Learn how toys feel as you explore Andy's backyard garden and get face-to-face with the stars of the Disney Pixar Toy Storyfeatures including Rex, the Toy Soldiers, Slinky, RC Racer and certainly Buzz...
At the far end of the Toon Studios, hidden behind a lush green bamboo hedge, right next to the Parisian street a giant Buzz Lightyear toy towers over the walkway greeting guests in English and French and inviting them to come and explore Andy's backyard. Following the winding path behind him guests enter a unique world ... the world of toys.
Everything that can be spotted here has been created by Andy using whatever he could find in his playroom or somewhere else in the family home. For example the fences lining the walkways are made out of Knex construction toys, some of the walls are constructed out of colorful domino stones, track pieces of a toy train set are used as a bench and the various signs clearly show his elementary school writing.
Guests with a sharp eye can discover many hidden and not so hidden details here - for example the famous ball with which the lamp Luxo Jr. played in the short that started it all for Pixar sits in one of the planters right in the center of the land. Two other details become visible in all their glory only from the heighest point of the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop: a giant footprint of Andy on the area's walkways and the drawing on top of Slinky's box that houses the waiting area for the Slinky Dog ZigZag Spin.
The Slinky Dog ZigZag Spin is the first family friendly attraction of the Toy Story Playland as Slinky runs in a circle around Buster's dog bowl (Buster being Andy's dog) chasing his own tail while guests young and old ride along hopping up and down. Just on the other side of the main walkway from the outdoor queue of Slinky Dog ZigZag Spin the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop awaits adventurous guests of all ages. After a visit to Fort Emery in the queue area guests are pulled up to float gently down to the gorund with a great overview of the Toy Story Playland. The third and final ride in the area is RC Racer. In this thrill ride guests can race at high speed on board of RC Racer on a halfpipe that takes them vertical high above the tree tops.
But there are not only rides to discover here ... the unique feeling of this land that partially stretches into an old grown forest sets it apart from the remainder of the Walt Disney Studios park and invites guests to leisurely stroll around it and to discover the themeing, such as the giant Rex who poses with guests for photos (just please help his self esteem a bit when he asks you too)... So get ready to play like a toy in a toy's world!
