On the 23rd of February the first international DLP-Guide.com Meet´n´Greet
took place at Disney´s
Sequoia Lodge on the occasion of the Shareholders' Club Preview
of the Walt Disney Studios - which was
in fact the third fan meeting organized by the Team of DLP-Guide.com
but the first one of such a big scope...
The first fans already met early in the
morning in front of the studios gates to discover the all new theme
park together. Thanks to the free meeting badges all registered guests
had received from DLP-Guide.com fans were able to recognize each other
and get in contact well before the first organized meeting of the day,
which was due not before the evening.
But before that there was plenty of time
to explore the Walt Disney Studios and its attractions, shows and especially
its extensive streetmosphere. After these highlights fans and pin traders
flocked to Disney´s
Sequoia Lodge where the conference rooms Coyotte and Buffalo had
been reserved especially for them. While the doors were planned to open
officialy at 8.00 pm, the meeting to start at 8.15 pm and the pin trading
as late as 8.30 pm the first eager pin traders arrived as early as 7.30
pm prompting an early opening of the doors...
In front of and inside the conference
rooms, which had been transfered into the Meet'n'Greet Area, tables
had been prepared for the pin traders to present their collections and
to allow for easy trading or a relaxed chat about the first day in the
new park. What looked like a largely over-dimensioned setting soon proofed
to be just fitting the size of the event which attracted at one point
of the evening more than 150 guests at once.
To help with all questions about pins
(wether from the Disneyland Resort Paris or any other Disney Resort)
and especially with all questions regarding the new tradition of Pin
Trading Stephane, the first Super Trader of the resort (a castmember who will be wandering
around the parks only trading pins with the guests as of April), had set up a display at two tables between the Meet'n'Greet
area and the hotel shop. Here he not only answered all the questions
and introduced guests to the pin trading but also presented a unique
collection from the very earliest DLP-pins from 1992 to upcoming pin
releases.
Inside the Meet'n'Greet Area pin collectors from all over the world presented their extraordinary collections of interesting, beautiful and also rare, limited pins - some of them brought several hundred of their pins along, not only to display them but also to trade them with fellow pin traders, in other words to swap pins. And while the evening went along far to fast many trades were made not only with DLP pins but also true to the internationality of the event with pins from the other Disney Resorts, offering the fans the possibility to get their hands e.g. on pins from Tokyo Disney. And those who needed some pins to make a trade could stock up at the hotel boutique right next to the Meet'n'Greet Area which had collected the remaining copies of the limited pins released so far by DLP in 2002.
Among the guests here were also numerous cast members in their
time off work who joined in with their large private pin
collections.
While the pin traders got into chatting about their pins and trades a large number of frequent guests of the
Forum and the Chat of DLP-Guide.com also used the opportunity
to meet again fellow fans from the last two fan meetings at the Millennium Celebration and Halloween
2000. Those who had not attended these certainly also received a
heartly welcome. All had the opportunity finally to connect faces and real persons
with the names known from the website and to get to know each
other better. In the relaxed setting first impressions of the new
theme park were exchanged, old friendships prolonged and new
friendships created - and with pleasure the team of DLP-Guide.com
also joined the chats...
...till more than 50 of the fans and
pin traders moved to the restaurant Hunter´s Grill at Disney´s Sequoia
Lodge at about 10.00 pm, where tables had been reserved by the
Disneyland Resort Paris for the guests of the DLP-Guide.com
Meet'n'Greet. In the rustic atmosphere the guests together enjoyed
a lavish three course dinner and lively discussions about the pin
trades just made or the first day in the new Studios at all five
tables they had been seated at.
While a long evening came to late end in the restaurant the Pin
Trading in the Meet'n'Greet area continued till late after
midnight, when castmembers of the Sequoia Lodge finally closed the
Meet'n'Greet Area and the last trades were being made in front of
the conference rooms. But even this
was not really the end of the Meet´n´Greet...
A large group of fans had prolonged
their visit to the Disneyland Resort Paris for the 24th of February
and met again
at 1.30 pm in front of the City Hall in the Disneyland
Park. Here they were joined by a surprise guest for several
group photo shots: Mickey Mouse himself! Not only the two youngest
guests of the Meet'n'Greet really enjoyed this highlight before
the group went on to take a turn on some selected attractions and
continue their chats from the last evening in the remaining
afternoon.

Am 23. Februar fand das erste internationale DLP-Guide.com Meet´n´Greet
in Disney´s
Sequoia Lodge anlässlich der Aktionärsclub Preview der Walt
Disney Studios statt - wobei es sich eigentlich um das dritte
vom DLP-Guide.com Team organisierte Fanmeeting handelte, wenn auch
das erste dieser Größenordnung...Die ersten
Fans trafen sich bereits am frühen Morgen vor dem Eingangstor der Studios,
um den völlig neuen Themenpark gemeinsam zu entdecken. Dank der
kostenlosen Badges, die alle angemeldeten Gäste von DLP-Guide.com
erhalten hatten, war es dabei ein leichtes andere Fans zu erkennen
und noch lange vor dem ersten organisierten Treffen am Abend in
Kontakt zu kommen.
Doch vor diesem gab es erst einmal
reichlich Zeit, die Walt Disney Studios mit ihren Attraktionen,
Shows und besonders der Streetmosphere zu erleben. Nach diesem
Höhepunkt zog es Fans und Pin Trader dann zu Disney´s
Sequoia Lodge, wo die beiden Konferenzräume Coyotte und Buffalo
speziell für sie reserviert waren. Ursprünglich sollten sich
dort die Türen um 20.00 öffnen, das Meeting um 20.15 und das Pin
Trading schließlich um 20.30 beginnen, doch erste Pin Trader
trafen schon um 19.30 ein, so dass die Türen frühzeitig
geöffnet wurden...
Vor und in den Konferenzräumen,
die in die Meet'n'Greet Area verwandelt wurden, waren Tische vorbereitet,
die es den Pin Tradern ermöglichten ihre Sammlungen zu
präsentieren und leicht zu tauschen oder auch einfach nur es sich
für ein Gespräch über den ersten Tag im neuen Park gemütlich
zu machen. Was wie eine überdimensionierte Räumlichkeit wirkte,
erwies sich dabei schnell als genau dem Ansturm entsprechend,
waren zeitweise doch mehr als 150 Gäste gleichzeitig hier
anzutreffen.
Um bei allen Fragen rund um Pins
(egal ob aus dem Disneyland Resort Paris oder einem der anderen
Disney Resorts) und besonders bei Fragen zur neuen Tradition des
Pin Trading (Pin Tauschens) zu helfen, hatte Stephane, der erste
Super Trader des Resorts (ein Castmember der ab April durch die
Parks wandert, nur um mit den Gästen Pins zu tauschen), seinen
Stand an zwei Tischen zwischen der Meet'n'Greet Area und dem Hotel
Shop aufgebaut. Hier beantwortete er nicht nur Fragen, sondern
führte die Gäste auch in das Pin Trading ein und präsentierte
eine einmalige Sammlung von der ersten DLP-Pins aus 1992 bis hin
zu zukünftigen Pin-Veröffentlichungen.
In der Meet'n'Greet Area präsentierten Sammler
aus der ganzen Welt ihre außergewöhnlichen Sammlungen interessanter,
schöner und auch seltener, limitierter Pins - einige brachten
gleich mehrere Hundert Pins, und zwar nicht nur zur Ausstellung
sondern auch zum Traden, also zum Tauschen von Pins. Während der
Abend viel zu schnell vorüberging wurden so zahlreiche Trades
(Tauschvorgänge) abgeschlossen - und zwar nicht nur mit Pins aus
dem Disneyland Resort Paris sondern, ganz im Sinne des
internationalen Treffens, auch mit Pins anderer Disney Resorts. So
konnten Fans z.B. auch Pins von Tokyo Disney ertauschen. Alle die
für diese Tauschvorgänge noch Pins benötigten, konnten sich in
der Hotel Boutique direkt neben der Meet'n'Greet Area ausrüsten,
die die letzten Exemplare der bisher 2002 von DLP
veröffentlichten limitierten Pins aus dem gesamten Resort
zusammengezogen hatte.
Unter den Gästen waren dabei auch zahlreiche Castmember in ihrer
Freizeit mit ihren privaten Pin Sammlungen.
Während die Pin Trader über ihre
Pins und Tauschvorgänge in das Gespräch kamen, nutzten
zahlreiche regelmäßigen Gäste des Forum
und des Chat
von DLP-Guide.com die Gelegenheit, andere Fans von den beiden
ersten Fan Meetings anlässlich der Millennium Feiern und
Halloween 2000 wieder zu treffen. Natürlich wurden auch alle Fans
herzlich in den Kreis aufgenommen, die damals noch nicht dabei
waren. Derart hatten alle die Gelegenheit Gesichter und echte
Personen mit den von der Website bekannten Namen zu verbinden und
sich besser kennen zu lernen. In der entspannten Stimmungen wurden
so die ersten Eindrücke aus dem neuen Themenpark ausgetauscht,
alte Freundschaften aufgefrischt und neue Freundschaften
geschlossen - mit viel Freude schloss sich hier auch das Team von
DLP-Guide.com an...
... bis gegen 22.00 Uhr
mehr als 50 Fans
und Pin Tader in das Restaurant Hunter´s Grill in Disney's Sequoia
Lodge aufbrachen, wo das Disneyland Resort Paris Tische für die
Gäste des DLP-Guide.com Meet'n'Greet reserviert hatte. In rustikaler
Atmosphäre genoss man an 5 Tischen hier gemeinsam ein ausgedehntes
Drei-Gänge-Menü und lebhafte Gespräche über die letzten Pin
Trades oder die ersten Erfahrungen und Eindrücke in den Studios zu genießen.
Während ein langer Abend im Restaurant sein spätes Ende fand,
ging die Pin Trading Session in der Meet'n'Greet Area noch bis
lange nach Mitternacht weiter, als die Castmember der Sequoia
Lodge die Türen schlossen und letzte Tauschgeschäfte vor den
beiden Räumen besiegelt wurden. Aber
selbt dies war nicht wirklich das Ende
des Meet´n´Greet...
Eine grosse Gruppe der Fans hatte
ihren Aufenthalt im Disneyland Resort Paris bis zum 24. Februar
verlängert und trafen sich gegen 13.30 Uhr an der City Hall im Disneyland
Park. Hier schloß sich ihnen dann ein Überraschungsgast für
einige Gruppenphotos an: Mickey Mouse persönlich! Und nicht nur
die beiden jüngsten Gäste des Meet'n'Greet waren begeistert.
Nach diesem Highlight ging es weiter, um den Park und seine
Attraktionen am verbleibenden Nachmittag zu genießen und die
Gespräche des Vorabends fortzusetzen.
