Where Tigers hide deep inside Ruins...

 The international guests arrived already on Friday the 24th and spent a first night in one of the top hotels at the resort, the New York or the Disneyland Hotel, so they were able to start their own trip into the magical world of Disney already in the morning hours. Most of them tried to see as much as possible in the lands besides Adventureland, which would welcome them later on the day for an exclusive premier-event. While some celebrities were accompanied by photographers and journalists who were eager to tell their audience all about the experience onboard the mine trains of the new rollercoaster "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril backwards", most guests enjoied the park on their own.

During the day the invited guests of the local region arrived in time to enjoy another new attraction of Disneyland Paris: "Disney's ImagiNations Parade", which premiered on the 31st December 1999. The gigantic floats are towering with their heights of up to 11 meters well above the buildings of the Main Street and take the large crowd that has gathered along the parade-route onto a trip around the world. With its catchy theme-song "All around the World" and the interaction with children, who are invited to join the dancers to the music of the world-regions (a feature cut only a few weeks later), the parade wins the hearts of the guests, both the invited and regular ones, in seconds - together they marvel at the sight of the floats, dance to the music and enjoy the special spirit brought to the park with this new experience.

But as the evening nears and sun sets low Adventureland (except for Pirates of the Caribbean) and the area in Frontierland behind the Big Thunder Mountain Station and the Rivers of the West are closed for the public - hundreds of castmembers are now starting last preparations for the grand event in the night-hours.

As they are preparing the red carpet leading from Central Plaza into Adventureland the guests start lining up along the carpet to get a first hand view of the invited celebrities from all over Europe, including Sven Hannawald and Laetitia Caster, to name just two. The first VIPs walk down the red carept amid a flash-light-storm of fans and the press shortly before eight o'clock. But fast, for the guests lining the red carpet too fast, they disappear into the Adventureland Bazar and thereby out of the sight of the public, which soon leaves again to use the rest of the operational day of Disneyland Paris to make some discoveries of their own - and maybe get a second glance of the celebrities from the Disneyland Railroad.

At the same time the invited guests gather right behind the entrance of Adventureland where castmembers are bussy handing out the first tropic cocktails ... suddenly a peasant comes around the corner with his cart pulled by two large oxe - first gasps can be heard as some guests get a view of the loading area where a gepard is sitting - and around the next corner a marching band in safari-costumes turns. It anchors the arrival of Gilles Péllison (then CEO and chairman of EuroDisney SCA) on a safari-jeep, from which he, accompanied by three woman who will participate in the non-stop, non-assistance sailing-race "The Race" around the world, welcomes the guests and invites them to enjoy an adventurous evening. The place around the Adventureland Bazar is now crowded with invited guests who make themselfs ready to start the safari into the mist of the Adventureland lit by torches and inhabited by exotic animals and characters... but before their journey can start suddenly pirates appear on the roofs of the wonderful lit Adventureland and a fierce battle right between the guests errupts.

By now the crowds are ready to journey into Adventureland - each guest is invited to get thrilled on the new Indy coaster backwards, which lays deep in the trembling jungle under the light of the giant fires burning high among the ruins. Walking past camels and a laughing hyaen (all real animals accompanied by their caretakers) the guests climb the steep steps up the remains of the temple to board the mine trains and start a breathtaking journey - facing backwards the trains go up the steep lifthill, offering a wonderful view of the themepark in it's astonishing night-time-clothes of thousands of colored lights, before the pace hightens and the first surprising downhill starts. While the view wanders around the ruins that seem to change their form due to the ever flickering fires that light it up the unpredictable journey along the track continues and the screams of it's passengers can be heard echoing all through the jungle. Before one would have a second to anticipate the now coming one finds oneself backwards in a breathtaking looping, having the feeling of falling out of the cars - but as fast as this tremendous journey started it also ends and one returns to the safe camp of the archeological team that seems to have disappeared - maybe the strange experience was the revenge of the gods that once were worshiped at this temple?

Before it is time to enjoy a luxurious dinner in one of the restaurants in Adventureland or Frontierland (each guest was handed an invitation for one of these restaurants) the guests can use the time stroll around the decorated Adventureland and Frontierland, where exotic animals and savage tribes await them around each corner ... the Adventure Isle shimmers, natural lights twinkle along side the pathways, fogs linger around the artistically lit waterfalls and among the jungle-rhythms guest discover the tree-house and the jungle around it in a new, unseen athmosphere - but not all guests are courageous enough to get that deep into the jungle, as hungry crocodiles seem to swim around the island. But there is still plenty to see, not only for the younger guests who depart on a big treasure hunt, but also for the adults who fall under the spell of jungle drums and the beautifull dancer and her live snake! A endless sea of colors has changed the look, the feeling of the Adventureland completly. Everybody meets again at the restaurants where exotic buffets invite to relax and lay back before the next part of the journey starts - taking a short look at a small real live crocodile and a pertness parrot the ways lead into Frontierland, where a modest but still striking jungle athmosphere has been created for one night, here a tiger roams in save distance from the pathways the guests walk toward the Chaparral Stage, where they are set to witness the premiere of the brand new, world exclusive show "The Tarzan Encounter". As the lights turn onto the stage and the curtain goes up a jungle grows on the stage to form an enchanting setting which is occupied by a large group of apes, whose acrobatics and dances soon gets the audience sheering and clapping. And then, the trademark shout of Tarzan sounds through the theatre and he swings onto the stage - together with Jane he departs on a pas de deux high above the audience gliding and flying through the air. Accompanied by the famous music from the movie-soundtrack by Phil Collins the show turns into a hilarious but also extremly romantic 25-minute experience that is over too soon. Marveling at the perfectly lit jungle scenery, laughing and clapping with the apes, wondering at the flying of Jane and Tarzan that show gets it's guest jumping onto their feets and applauding longer than ever at a show in Disneyland Paris.

Not only the two premieres, the show and the rollercoaster, will be remembered by the guests for a long time, but also the specially created athmosphere all around Adventureland that really changed it into a living, growing jungle inhabited by countless animals one normally would only encounter in zoo - so the guests kept wandering around till the next highlight lured them back onto the more fimilar pathways. While invited celebrities partied in a especially errected tent behind the Indy-rollercoaster most of the guests either went to Main Street to enjoy together with the public at half past ten the Mainstreet Electrical Parade or journied back into Frontierland where acrobats, pirates and fireworkers created a unique show mixing acrobatics on the vertical rope, sword-fights right between the audience and fire balls shouting into the sky synchronized with music. And so an adventurous, unforgettable evening in the jungle of Disneyland Paris ended - but the new Indy-rollercoaster and the Tarzan-show are there to stay and take thousands of guests onto an safari into the depths of the jungle...

 Die internationalen Gäste reisten bereits am Freitag den 24. an und verbrachten die erste Nacht im Hotel New York oder dem Disneyland Hotel, so dass sie bereits in den Morgenstunden zu ihrer Abenteuerreise in die Welt Disneys aufbrechen konnten. So bemühten sie sich möglichst viel außerhalb des Adventurelands zu unternehmen, das sie anlässlich des Premieren-Events noch erkunden würden. Während einige Stars von Photographen und Journalisten begleitet wurden, die ihren Lesern und Zuschauern alles über das Erlebnis in den Mienenzügen der neuen Achterbahn "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril backwards" berichten wollten, genossen die meisten den Park noch auf eigene Faust.

Auch die geladenen Gäste aus der Region trafen rechtzeitig ein, um andere neue Attraktion mitzuerleben: "Disney's ImagiNations Parade", die am 31. Dezember 1999 erstmals zu sehen war. Ihre gigantischen Wagen ragen bis zu 11 Meter hoch über die Gebäude der Main Street und nehmen die Gäste mit auf eine Reise rund um die Welt. Mit dem mitreißenden Song "All around the World" und der Interaktion mit Kindern aus dem Publikum, die eingeladen werden gemeinsam mit den Tänzern zur Musik der Weltregionen zu tanzen (dieses Elemente wurde wenige Wochen später gestrichen), erobert die Parade in sekundenschnelle die Herzen der Zuschauer. Gemeinsam bewundern sie die Motivwagen, tanzen zur Musik und genießen die besondere Stimmung, die Einzug in den Park hält.

Als sich der Abend nähert und die Sonne tiefer sinkt, werden das Adventureland (außer der Attraktion Pirates of the Caribbean) und das Frontierland hinter dem Big Thunder Mountain und den Rivers of the West für die Öffentlichkeit gesperrt - hunderte Castmember beginnen jetzt mit den letzten Vorbereitungen für die große, nächtliche Feier.

Noch während sie den Roten Teppich von der Central Plaza in das Adventureland ausrollen, finden sich erste Zuschauer ein, die einen Blick auf die zahlreichen europäischen Stars werfen wollen, zu denen Sven Hannawald und Laetitia Caster gehören. Kurz vor Acht Uhr schreiten die ersten VIPs dann in einem Blitzlichtgewitter über den Roten Teppich - doch verschwinden, zumindest für die Fans, zu schnell im Adventureland Bazar, so dass die übrigen Parkbesucher bald wieder aufbrechen, um die restlichen Stunden im Disneyland Paris noch für ihre eigenen Entdeckungen zu nutzen und vielleicht von der Disneyland Railroad aus einen Blick auf die geladenen Gäste zu erhaschen.

Zur selben Zeit sammeln sich die geladenen Gäste direkt hinter dem Eingang des Adventurelands, wo Castmember erste tropische Cocktails anbieten ... überraschend biegt da ein Bauer mit seinem Ochsenkarren um die Ecke - das Erstaunen der Gäste ist spürbar, als sie einen Blick auf die Ladefläche werfen, denn dort sitzt ein echter Gepard - gefolgt wenig später von einer Marschband in Safariausstattung, die Gilles Péllison (dem damaligen CEO und Chairman von EuroDisney SCA) in einem Jeep ankündigt. Von diesem aus begrüßt er, begleitet von drei Damen, die an dem Segelwettkampf "The Race" rund um die Welt teilnehmen, die Gäste und lädt sie zu einer abenteuerlichen Reise in das Herz des Dschungels im Disneyland Paris ein. Rund um den Adventureland Bazar steht die Masse mittlerweile dichtgedrängt und bereitet sich darauf vor zur Safari in den nebelverhangenen Dschungel, beleuchtet von flackernden Fackeln und bewohnt von exotischen Tieren und Charakteren, aufzubrechen ... doch bevor die Reise beginnen kann, tauchen plötzlich Piraten auf den Dächern des in strahlenden Farben beleuchteten Adventurelands auf und tragen ihren Schwertkampf mitten unter die Gäste.

Dann aber brechen sie auf, das Adventureland zu erkunden. Sie sind eingeladen, das Erlebnis der neuen Indy-Rückwärtsachterbahn zu testen, die tief im Dschungel unter dem Licht riesiger Feuer, die in den Ruinen brennen, liegt. Der Weg dorthin führt vorbei an Kamelen und einer lachenden Hyäne (alles echte Tiere in Begleitung ihrer Pfleger) und die steilen Stufen der ehemaligen Prachttreppe hinauf, bis sie die Mienenzügen besteigen und die atemberaubende Fahrt beginnt - rückwärtsblickend geht es den steilen Lift-Hill hinauf und es eröffnet sich ein Blick über den Park in seinem berauschenden Nacht-Kleid tausender farbiger Lichter, bevor die Geschwindigkeit zunimmt und die erste Abfahrt droht. Während das Auge über die Ruinen des Tempels schweift, der durch den flackernden Feuerschein dauernd die Form zu ändern scheint, geht die unvorhersagbare Fahrt weiter und die Schreie der Passagiere schallen durch den Dschungel. Bevor man auch nur eine Sekunde hätte, um zu erahnen, was als nächstes geschieht, findet man sich rückwärts in einem Looping und kann sich des Gefühls nicht erwehren, aus den Wagen zu fallen - doch so schnell wie diese unglaubliche Fahrt begonnen hat, so schnell kehrt man auch in das verlassene aber doch scheinbar sichere Camp der Archäologen zurück - vielleicht war dieses Erlebnis die Rache der Götter, denen einst hier gehuldigt wurde?

Bevor es Zeit ist, zum Dinner in eines der Restaurants im Adventure- oder Frontierland aufzubrechen (jeder Gast hatte eine Einladung für ein Restaurant erhalten) nutzen die Gäste die Zeit noch auf eigene Faust durch das dekorierte Adventure- und Frontierland zu wandern, in denen exotische Tiere und gefährliche Eingeborene hinter jeder Biegung warten ... die Adventure Isle schimmert im Licht der unzähligen Fackeln, die entlang der Pfade aufgestellt wurden, Nebel wallt um ihre Ufer und die künstlich beleuchteten Wasserfälle laden ein, das Baumhaus und den umgebenden Dschungel in einer neuen, nie da gewesenen Atmosphäre zu entdecken - doch nicht alle Gäste sind mutig genug, sich so weit hinaus zu wagen, während Krokodile ihre Köpfe aus der Lagune heben. Noch immer gibt es viel neues zu entdecken, nicht nur für die Jüngsten, die sich bei einer Schatzsuche vergnügen, sondern auch für die Erwachsenen, die in den Bann der Trommeln und der Schlangentänzerin mit ihrer Schlange gezogen werden! Ein endloses Farbenmehr hat nicht nur den Anblick sondern auch die Stimmung des Adventurelands völlig verändert. Ein freudiges Wiedersehen feiern die mutigen Abenteurer später in den Restaurants, wo sie sich bei einem fremdländischen Buffet entspannen und für den nächsten Abschnitt der Entdeckungsreise wappnen. Nach einem kurzen Blick auf ein kleines, echtes Krokodil und die Begegnung mit einem vorlauten, strahlenden Papagei führen die Wege in das Frontierland, in dem für diesen Abend eine behutsame aber gefällige Dschungelatmosphäre geschaffen wurde. Hier zieht ein Tiger in sicherer Entfernung zu den Wegen zum Chaparral Theater sein Kreise, so dass er im Vorübergehen auf dem Weg zur Premiere der neuen, exklusiv im Disneyland Paris zu sehenden Show "The Tarzan Encounter" beobachtet werden kann. Als die Lichter auf die Bühne schwenken und sich der Vorhang hebt, wächst auf der Bühne ein bezaubernder Dschungel, bewohnt von zahllosen Affen, deren Akrobatik und Tanz das Publikum zu tosendem Applaus animieren. Dann schallt er endlich durch den Saal - der berühmte Tarzan-Schrei und schon schwingt er sich auf die Bühne! Kurze Zeit später begibt er sich wieder in die Lüfte, um gemeinsam mit Jane ein Pas De Deux durch die Lüfte gleitend zu präsentieren. Begleitet von der bekannten Musik aus dem Film-Soundtrack von Phil Collins ist diese 25-minütige Show ein kurzweiliges, auch sehr romantisches Erlebnis, das zu schnell vorüber geht. Von der Szenerie in Staunen versetzt, mit den Affen lachend und klatschend, aber auch die Flugakrobatik von Jane und Tarzan bewundernd bringt diese Show das Publikum auf die Füße zu dem wohl längsten Applaus für eine Show in der Geschichte von Disneyland Paris.

Doch nicht nur die beiden Premieren, die Show und die Achterbahn, werden den Gästen lange in Erinnerung bleiben, sondern auch die spezielle Atmosphäre im Adventureland, die dieses in einen echten, lebenden Dschungeln mit zahllosen Tieren verwandelte - so genossen die Gäste die Stimmung, bis sie das nächste Highlight wieder auf bekanntere Wege zurücklockte. Während ausgewählte Stars in einem speziell errichteten Zelt hinter Indy feierten, begaben sich die meisten übrigen Gäste entweder auf die Main Street, um gemeinsam mit den Tagesgästen die Mainstreet Electrical Parade zu erleben, oder zurück ins Frontierland, wo Akrobaten, Piraten und Feuerwerker eine einmalige Show mit einem Mix aus Akrobatik am Vertikalseil, Schwertkämpfen inmitten der Gäste und synchron zur Musik in den Himmel schießenden Feuerbällen präsentierten. So endete eine abenteuerlicher, unvergesslicher Abend im Dschungel von Disneyland Paris - aber die neue Indy-Achterbahn und die Tarzan-Show bleiben erhalten und werden noch Tausende Gäste auf eine Safari in die Tiefen des Dschungels führen...
