A Party-Jungle ...

 It's cold in February in Paris ... but 2003 the Disneyland Resort Paris is turning up the heat with the Jungle Book Carnival - which is not just a parade or a show, but a whole festival meant to bring a partyjungle to the Main Street, U.S.A.

The heat is already felt before guests even enter the Disneyland Park - as latin american and carribbean music already welcomes them at the Fantasia Gardens, where the first blooms can be spotted as if attracted by the hot rhythms of this special festival.

Still even once the guests have passed the turnstiles of the Disneyland Park they may not feel any warmer but the giant, colorful sign on the Main Street Railroad Station already tells that ahead of them something special must be waiting. So don't hesitate any longer, step ahead, pass under the signage and soon the vista of the Town Square will open up. The jazz music performed by the Mardi Gras Jazz Band (sometimes also called the New Orleans Dixie Musicians) throughout the day in the gazebo in the center of the square draws you right into a Main Street which is a bit more colorful than usual - don't worry if you start to swing along...
Whenever the six man Dixie combo in their stripped suits with their stylish straw hats that could come directly from New Orleans (a city which also clearly influenced their jazz renditions of Disney classics) is not out and performing you will still get treated to that special jazzy feeling thanks to a new jazz soundtrack playing all over the Main Street.

So you've got the sound of Mardi Gras - now what is missing? Ah, yes, decorations ... and there they are ... all over the Main Street two decorations crews must have worked extra hours. The guys from New Orleans have strung giant replicas of music instruments around the lamp posts, so that you could be lieve the jazz music balsts right out of them. They also added a giant hat to the gazebo in the Town Square creating a bit of tacky carnival feeling that is just typical for Mardi Gras. But then there was that second crew - must have been the monkeys of King Louie who were eager to make the Main Street look as jungle like as they could to create the right amtosphere for the stars of the event. So they strung long lines of leaves right over the whole Main Street and added another bunch of oversized palmleaves to the gazebo on the Main Street. Still not happy with their work they squeezed bunches of bananas right into the music instruments the first crew had put up on the lampposts ... not to froget those little portraits of the stars of Jungle Book. The result is a really crazy look - Mardi Gras meets the Jungle!

But this is not only something to look at - this Jungle Book Carnival wants you to join in the fun as the call of the Jungle Fever Tam Tams tells you - so hurry down the Main Street, just don't forget to come back later, not only to enjoy the Mardi Gras atmosphere but also to drop into Bixby Bros. which has been transfered into the carnival shopping headquarters. The whole shop has been decorated even more elaborate than the street outside. Here guests can get everything they need to continue the party at home - from costumes to the latest decoration trend for their personal jungle carnival!
Luckily Baloo and his friends have brought the Jungle Fever Tam Tams along with them from the jungle so to heed their call you only have to get up to Central Plaza. Right in its middle a large african hut has sprung up and is now used as the central stage for this festival. Several times daily the african dancers and musicians play their drums, or Tam Tams as they call them, up on this Jungle Book stage. With their traditional african outfits they already warm up the place - but wait till their captivating beat calls out during this tribal style celebration! Soon not only the dancers up on the stage but also everybody who has met around the hub like the tribes did around the huts of their elders will start to tap along. This beats are really hot - and good for laugh or two thanks to the Disney characters who join in...

 

Die Party beginnt dann auch schon in den Fantasia Gardens vor dem Disneyland Park - mit lateinamerikanischen und karibischen Klängen, die hier den neuen, heißen Soundtrack bilden.

Doch auch wenn die Gäste dann den Eingang des Disneyland Park passiert haben, mögen sie sich noch nicht wirklich wärmer fühlen, aber das gigantische, farbenfrohe Transparent an der Main Street Railroad Station deutet schon daraufhin, dass nur wenige Schritte entfernt etwas besonderes wartet. Also auf geht's, unter der Bahnstrecke hindurch und schon öffnet sich der Blick auf den Town Square und die Jazz-Musik der Mardi Gras Jazz Band (auch bekannt als New Orleans Dixie Musicians), die während des gesamten Tages immer wieder im Pavillion hier anzutreffen ist, lock den Besuch direkt auf die Main Street, die etwas farbenfroher als sonst erscheint - und bloss keine Angst, falls sie schon mitswingen... Und falls die sechsköpfige Dixie-Combo in ihren grell gestreiften Jackets und mit ihren Strohhüten, die direkt aus New Orleans kommen könnten (dessen musikalischer Stil ihre Jazz-Versionen der Disneyklassiker eindeutig beeinflusst hat), einmal Pause machen, ist da noch immer der neue Jazz Soundtrack, der in der gesamten Main Street zu hören ist.

Die passende Musik für Mardi Gras haben wir schon, was fehlt da noch? Ach ja, Dekorationen... und da sind sie auch schon... scheinbar haben gleich zwei Dekorationscrews sich über die Main Street hergemacht. Die Jungs aus New Orleans haben gigantische Nachbildungen diverser Musikinstrumente an den Laternen angebracht, so dass man fast den Eindruck gewinnt, der Jazz ertöne direkt aus ihnen. Außerdem haben sie dem Pavillon auf dem Town Square noch einen originellen Strohhut verpasst, was dem ganzen den etwas verrückten Anstrichg ibt, der so typisch für Mardi Gras ist. Aber dann gibt es da ja noch die zweite Mannschaft  - und das müssen die Affen von King Louie gewesen sein, die sich bemüht haben, die Mein Street in einen Dschungel zu verwandeln, damit sich die Stars des Event hier heimisch fühlen. Über die ganze Breite der Main Street haben sie Ketten aus Dschungelblättern gespannt und auch den Pavillon zieren große Palmwedel. Als letztes Highlight wurden dann noch ganze Bananenberge in die Musikinstrumente an den Laternen gequetscht... nicht zu vergessen die Portraits der Stars aus dem Dschungelbuch. Das Ergebnis ist eine einmalige Mischung - Mardi Gras trifft den Dschungel!

Aber bei diesem Festival geht es nicht nur um Dekorationen - der Ruf der Jungle Fever Tam Tams sagt es ganz deutlich: bei dieser Party soll jeder mitmachen. Also auf, weiter hinein in das Treiben - aber nicht vergessen später noch einmal zurückzukommen, um die Atmosphäre zu genießen und die Bixby Bros. zu besuchen, deren Geschäft zum Hauptquartier des Karnevals wurde. In seinen aufwendig dekorierten Räumen findet sich alles für die eigene Dschungelparty. Glücklicherweise haben Balu und seine Freunde die Tam Tams aus dem Dschungel mitgebracht, so dass sie jetzt nur wenige Schritte entfernt auf der Central Plaza zu finden sind. Eine große afrikanische Hütte in dessen Zentrum dient hier als Hauptbühne für das Festival, auf der mehrmals täglich die afrikanischen Tänzer und Musiker mit ihren Trommeln, oder Tam Tams wie sie sie nennen, auftreten. In ihren traditionellen Stammeskostümen steigt die Stimmung und die Temperatur schon, wenn sie die Bühne betreten - aber warten Sie nur ab, bis der Rhythmus der Tam Tams während der Show im Stammesstil erklingt! Schnell nimmt er nicht nur die Tänzer auf der Bühne sondern auch das Publikum gefangen, das sich rings um die Bühne wie einst die Stämme um die Hütten ihrer Ältesten versammelt hat, und alle machen mit - denn diese Klänge sind wirklich heiß ... und auch für den einen oder anderen Lacher gut dank der Disney Charaktere die sich dazugesellen.

But what's that - do you also hear the samba music playing down on the Main Street? It must be time for the Main Street Carnival (also called Carnival Group)!! Numerous times throughout the day this colorful procession really turns the Main Street into the heart of a giant carnival party. Once the gates at Town Square swing open the fun and rhythm of the latin carnival literally floods out. Baloo and Mr. Carnival ride down the Main Street on a crazy decorated Main Street Vehicle surrounded by the most beautifull samba dancers and every Disney character from the jungle who wants to dance along ... so Timon from the Lion King dances next to Abu from Aladdin while King Louie and his folks go totally ape for the latin beats directed by Mr. Carnival who gets every guest to join in for this procession. But not only the characters from the jungle love to party - Chip'n'Dale, Tigger, the Country Bears (who woke up a bit early from their winter-slumber), Goofy, Minnie even Eeyore, to name just a few, have put on their colorful carnival costumes to celebrate with the guests. With the latin rhythms, all the characters and the smiling faces of the happy children along the street who can meet their favorite chracters here the Main Street seems really hot and glowing, the green leaves even brighter and everything even more fun. Therefore the parade also does not end as usually at an backstage-gate but directly in front of the castle with an opportunity for everybody to dance away to the latin american beats - or just enjoy the colorful presentation and get an autograph of the Disney stars...

Dancing along with procession is OK - but it would be even better if one knew the steps of the dance. That's why Baloo has asked Mowgli to join him twice daily on the Jungle Book Stage on Central Plaza for the Jungle Boogie Party. There Baloo demonstrates to the sound of the Tam Tams the latest craze from the jungle: the Jungle Boogie - King Louie already dances along and soon you will too. With the help of Mowgli Baloo teaches all guests who huddle around the african hut how to do this dance ... and then the party really starts!! Certainly the african dancers aren't missing this either.

While the Jungle Book Carnival is a celebration for the whole family, especially teenagers will love to join the carnival festivities in the Disney Village each weekend during the carnival season - so the party does not have to end at nightfall ...

Aber was ist das? Hörst Du auch Sambaklänge von der Main Street? Es muss Zeit sein für den Main Street Carnival (alias die Carnival Group)!! Mehrmals täglich verwandelt die bunte Parade die Main Street endgültig in eine Partymeile. Sowie die Tore am Town Square sich öffnen, ergießt sich der Spaß und vor allem der Rhythmus des lateinamerikanischen Karnevals in die Main Street. Baloo und Mr. Carnival erscheinen in einem passend dekorierten Main Street Vehicle begleitet von den schönsten Sambatänzerinnen und allen Disney Charakteren aus dem Dschungel, die mittanzen wollen ... da sieht man Timon aus dem König der Löwen direkt neben Abu aus Aladdin und natürlich King Louie der mit seiner Affenbande richtig mit den Sambarhythmen mitgeht - alles dirigiert von Mr. Carnival, der auch die Gäste einlädt sich der Parade anzuschließen. Doch nicht nur Charaktere aus dem Dschungel lassen sich diesen Spaß nicht entgehen - auch A- und B-Hörnchen, Tigger, die Country Bears (die extra früher ihren Winterschlaf beendet haben), Goofy, Minnie, ja selbst Iaah, um nur einige zu nennen, haben sich in ihre Karnevalskostüme geworfen und feiern nun mit. Dank der lateinamerikanischen Rhythmen, der Charaktere und den strahlenden Gesichtern der Kinder entlang der Strasse, die hier ihre Lieblinge treffen, glüht die Main Street nahezu, alles erscheint wärmer und selbst die grünen Blättergirlanden scheinen noch leuchtender - alles macht einfach noch mehr Spaß! So endet die Parade auch nicht wie üblich an einem Backstage-Tor sondern direkt vor dem Schloss mit der Gelegenheit für alle Gäste sich ganz den lateinamerikanischen Rhythmen hinzugeben - oder den Anblick zu genießen und ein Autogramm der Disney Stars zu erhaschen...

Mit der Parade mitzutanzen ist in Ordnung - noch mehr Spaß macht so etwas aber, wenn man die Choreographie kennt. Und genau deshalb hat Balu auch Mowgli eingeladen, ihn zweimal täglich auf die Jungle Book Stage zur Jungle Boogie Party zu begleiten. Denn dort erklärt Balu zum Rhythmus der Tam Tams die Schritte des letzten Schreis aus dem Dschungel: des Jungle Boogie - auch King Louie tanzt da mit ... und wie steht es mit Dir? Mit der Hilfe von Mowgli bringt Dir Balu den neusten Trendtanz im Handumdrehen bei ... und dann beginnt die Party rund um die Bühne erst so richtig!! Da fehlen natürlich auch die afrikanischen Tänzer nicht, deren Anmut einfach begeistern ist.

Während der Jungle Book Carnival eine Party für die ganze Familie ist, werden sich besonders Teenager mit Freuden in die Karnevalsfeiern im Disney Village stürzen, die dort an allen Wochenenden der Karnevalssaison die Abende verkürzen - also Party rund um die Uhr ...
