in an unacceptable quality. The guide presents all attractions of both parks in extreme detail and rates them
but the descriptions are written in a very informal style addressing the reader directly just as in a conversation. This is certainly a style not suiting everyone, but
makes obvious that often personal opinions have been included. As with the MarcoPolo guide the "Insider-Infos"
disappoint. Overall the book does not come across as really professional -
despite the pricing. |
Dieser inoffizielle Disney-Park Führer war der erste deutschsprachige
Titel, der neben dem Disneyland Park auch die Walt Disney Studios auf
seinen 100 Seiten vorstellte - illustriert durch einige offizielle Photos
in nicht
mehr akzeptabler Qualität. Der Führer stellt alle Attraktionen
beider Parks äußerst detailliert vor und bewertet sie, wobei die
Beschreibungen sich sehr direkt an den Leser wenden und diesen wie in
einem Gespräch in sehr lockerem Ton ansprechen. Ein solcher Stil ist
sicherlich Geschmackssache, macht aber auf jeden Fall deutlich, dass oft subjektive Empfindungen
geschildert werden. Wie auch im MarcoPolo Reiseführer enttäuschen die
"Insider-Infos". Insgesamt bleibt aber ein unprofessioneller
Eindruck zurück. |

The most popular travel guide for first-time-visitors on the German market
since 1992 has been updated regularly. In several chapters the attractions,
hotels, restaurants and shops are objectively described. Many useful hints
in the last part of the pocket sized book make it a good choice. But the
Paris information is really very short and can't replace an extra guide.
Unfortunately the last update from 2003, which includes a very short even for the first-time-visitor
not really sufficient overview of the WDS and its
attractions lacks in consistency and missed some errors and outdated parts
of the last edition. Don't hope for any true "insider tips" as
advertised, these are nothing but what everybody would do already anyway.
But: still a tried and established guide - just don't expect it to really
take you into the magic when reading it. |
Der populärste Reiseführer für Erstbesucher, seit 1992 auf dem deutschen
Markt und regelmäßig aktualisiert. Im Taschenformat werden in verschiedenen
Kapiteln die Attraktionen, Hotels, Restaurants und Shops objektiv beschrieben.
Eine Rubrik mit praktischen Tipps rundet das ganze schließlich ab.
Kritikpunkte? Die sehr knappen
Informationen zu Paris ersetzen keinen Extra-Führer und die Studios werden
nur sehr knapp vorgestellt. Störender an der Neuauflage von 2003 sind
aber einige überholte Informationen und Fehler der Vorauflage, die übersehen
wurden, und einige inkonsequente "Bestenlisten". Die beworbenen
"Insider Tips" schließlich sind eine Enttäuschung - dennoch
ein praktischer und etablierter Fürher - aber erwarten sie keine
magischen Leseerlebnisse. |

Paris-Fan im Stil der amerikanischen Inoffiziellen Bob Sehlinger-Führer mit
vielen Insider-Tipps. Trotz des Erscheinungsjahrs 2000 ist der Führer leider nicht überall
wirklich auf dem Stand 2000 - die WDS fehlen natürlich auch. Wegen seiner Subjektivität jedoch eine sehr interessante
Alternative zu den klassischen Führern! |

8 years after the first edition Bob Sehlinger did publish his second guide
to Disneyland Paris. As detailed descriptions and ratings are the trademark
of his books covering the US-parks an indepth analysis of the resort had been
expected. But unfortunately the author cut out the direct comparison with
the US-parks and copied long parts of the more general information from his
US-books, he even copied most of his first edition from 1993, missing the
fact that attractions have been closed (e.g. Main Street Motors Display) or
replaced (e.g. the Indian Canoes). Overall the book makes the impression,
that the author never visited DLP after 1993 (e.g. his description of "Indiana
Jones and the Temple of Peril Backwards" is just plain wrong), thereby making
his ratings, many descriptions and especially the plans how to visit the park
useless. Due to inaccurate, outdated or plain wrong information not recommended, even so some descriptions of classic attractions are worth reading. But note: the WDS are completely missing in this guide. |
8 Jahre nach der ersten Auflage hat Bob Sehlinger den zweiten Führer für DLP
veröffentlicht. Statt der erwartenen genauen Beschreibungen und Bewertungen,
hat er leider den direkten Vergleich mit den US-Parks gestrichen und weite
Teile der allgemeinen Informationen aus seinen US-Büchern kopiert, ja sogar
weite Teile der Erstauflage von 1993 - dabei übersieht er, dass Attraktionen
geschlossen oder ersetzt wurden. Insgesamt entsteht der Eindruck, dass er
nach 1993 DLP nicht mehr besucht hat (die Beschreibung von "Indiana Jones
... Backwards" ist z.B. völlig falsch), wodurch die Bewertungen, viele Beschreibungen
und besonders die Pläne für den Besuch des Parks nutzlos sind. Wegen ungenauer,
überholter und falscher Informationen nicht zu empfehlen, auch wenn einige
Beschreibungen klassischer Attraktionen lesenswert sind. Aber nicht
vergessen: die WDS fehlen noch komplett. |

quite a long time for this kind of book: The history of europe's largest leisure
park from the first drawings to the situation at the end of 1994. A large
part of the book describes the financial problems of the resort in the first
years and how the management solved them. All in all an interesting dissertation addressed to the Disneyland Paris expert (including a 40 pages bibliography). Even so the last section is not as detailed as the first two thirds this book (which doesn't include any photos or drawings) is a must-have for every Disneyland Paris fan. |
Auf dieses Buch haben viele Disneyland Paris - Fans lange gewartet: die Geschichte
des größten Vergnügungsparks Europas, von der Standortsuche über die Planung
des Geländes bis zur Situation Ende 1994. Ein großer Teil des Buches geht
detailliert auf die anfänglichen Finanz-Probleme des Resorts sowie deren Bewältigung
ein. Alles in allem eine interessante Abhandlung, die sich eher an den Disneyland Paris Experten richtet (inklusive 40 Seiten Literaturverzeichnis). Leider fällt das letzte Drittel im Vergleich zu den ersten beiden etwas ab. Trotzdem ist dieses Buch (das übrigens ohne jederlei Foto oder Zeichnung auskommt) ein Muss für jeden Disneyland Paris Fan! |

a Disney-fan very disappointing) exception of Tokyo Disneyland - and is the
only compendium that finally gives a good overview and a possibility to compare
the parks. On 144 pages (of which 31 are dedicated to Disneyland Resort Paris) it
offers short but precise information which are completed by the addition of
115 pictures and 6 maps. There are also useful hints about how to get to the
parks and a chapter "Information A-Z". The attractions are (most of the time
without comments of the author) described objectively.
Missing are the
parks Disney's California Adventure and the Walt Disney Studios Paris
which opened after the release of the book. |

or technical knowledge. Still this doesn't change the final judgment on the
book: a must for all who want to see the details of the concept and not just
learn the philosophy. |
Sehr ausführliches Buch über das Design der Themenparks, von den Ursprüngen
der frühesten Entwürfe Walts bis hin zu den 1997 neuesten Planungen. Viele
Fotos und Zeichnungen bilden den hochgeschätzten Kern für die Mehrzahl der
Käufer. Doch bietet das Werk auch sehr detailliert, auch etwas zu detaillierte
Entwürfe und Texte, die teilweise sehr tief in die Materie einsteigen und
ohne architektonische oder technische Bildung zu kompliziert werden können.
Trotzdem aber ist das Werk ein Muß für alle, die die Details der Konzepte
kennen lernen wollen und nicht nur die Philosophie der Parks. |
