The Cafe des Cascadeurs was always a popular location for a small snack in the WDS offering mostly hot dogs and nachos in particular among the more regular guests of the park. Sure it is hidden in a corner behind the back of Armageddon. But that location adds to its relaxed atmosphere, in particular during the summer months, when the restaurant’s terrace offers the opportunity to enjoy the fast food “al fresco”. Also the limited indoor and outdoor seating wouldn’t really be suited to the large amount of guests that a more central location would attract. But, the crowds are sure to grow now …

Time for another progress report from the construction site of the future Toy Story Playland in the Walt Disney Studios. In general views into the future mini-land are now greatly limited as high grown bamboo surrounds the area rather closely. Nevertheless there are some interesting insights in the best meaning of the word, visible from the guest-accessible areas inside the Walt Disney Studios … (more…)

Finally! It felt like ages – and in fact it took more than 4 years – but since the past weekend finally the front facade of Studio 1, the backdrop of the Frontlot and the park’s entrance visible to guests about to enter the park from far out ahead of the turnstiles, is finally visible in all its glory again. Starting late last week the scaffolding has come down from the facade and should be completely gone by now. (more…)

APRIL FOOLS JOKE
Fans and experts of the theme / amusement park industry were – to word it carefully – surprised when Disneyland Paris confirmed that Toy Story Playland would only open in August, i.e. half way through the busy summer season. Theme and amusement parks in general go to extraordinary length to assure that their new attractions are open in time for the summer, when the high season sets in. However, Disneyland Paris is ignoring this long established business rule. Or at least was planning to … someone in the management must have had second thoughts, though – as today the decision was made to continue construction for Toy Story Playland but reschedule the official opening till spring 2011!

2010 Disneyland Paris is celebrating the “New Generation Festival” – as is hard to miss, with the festival’s theme being layered over the spring / summer brochures already all over Europe and the according posters already placed over the moving wlakways between the theme parks and their main parking lot.
Now DLRP Fan Blog and DLRP Today have found the first official trailer in English (and in case of the DLRP Fan Blog also in Dutch) for the festival that will premier in April 2010 as also embedded below. (more…)

The Rock’n'Rollercoaster starring Aerosmith underwent a lengthy rehab last fall. The result? Guests are raving again about the light effects synchronized to the soundtrack of the coaster cutting through the thick smoke which once again fills the whole soundstage housing the coaster. In other words: the rehab brought the coaster back to its original standards.
But there are additional, more subtle improvements such as a retouched paint job for the waiting areas (e.g. on the wall guests are facing in the long corridor after the pre-show) - plus one huge improvement for the cast members working at the attraction. (more…)

Behind the Disney Art of Animation, between the Tram Tour station and the Toon Studios the Walt Disney Studios are preparing a new themed area with several attractions as the highlight for 2010: Toy Story Playland – as reported here already several times in detail.
But how is work progressing? All visible from outside so far is a huge non-descript construction fence – even the piles of dirt have disappeared again, that were visible over the fence earlier this summer, when ground preparation started. However, a look around the construction fence at one of the gaps at its corners reveals that the ground preparation does not only seem mostly finished, but that already concrete fundaments have been poured into major parts of the area – even for walkways it seem!

Despite the busy summer season in full swing the Walt Disney Studios Park is seing several more or less obvious and more or less construction projects going on … time for a wrap up …
The facade of Studio 1 facing toward the Frontlot and seen already by guests approaching the park is still fully covered by scaffolding and a scrim with a printed on replica of the facade. However, geusts shouldn’t expect this to change since – as already reported – there is no actual work going on there right now, but the scaffolding has been retained to allow for easy installation of an oversized advertising poster should Walt Disney Pictures be willing to pay for such step once again. In the meantime the last work on the Walt Disney Studios Store has been finished and the stretch limousine that is used as backdrop for a Meet’n'Greet with various Disney characters has been moved back from in front of Studio 1 to its original place in front of the Studio Store in the past week. However, thereby access to one of the newly added doors have been partially been obstructed again. The real surprising construction work can be found further inside the park … and photos can be found right after this break (more…)
