Three of the resort’s ongoing construction / rehab projects have finally been finished nearly half-way through the summer season in the past days. In the Disneyland Park the scaffolding has come down around the Plaza Gardens Restaurant, giving guests of the buffet restaurant once again the opportunity to look out on the gardens during the meal while guests walking around Central Plaza can see the sun reflecting in the shiny shingles of the once again all pretty facade. Also finished is the rehab of the columns along the facade of the Annual Passport office just a few meters further up at the border between Discoveryland and Fantasyland.
The third finished project can be found in the Walt Disney Studios Park, where the small structure added in front of the Disney Channel building has been revealed as another merchandise kiosk offeriing a small assortment of products, including High School Musical themed items, such as Mickey and Minnie plush in East High basketball respectively cheerleader outfits. The new kiosk seems to reflect the new color scheme that the current rehab is adding to the Disney Channel building. The yellowish color is still the main color, but in addition to the blue / green accents (in the cas eof th kiosk in the form of neon lights) also red art deco accents have been added.

Just a little heads up from the ongoing rehab of the Disney Channel Studio building in the Walt Disney Studios Park. As reported the whole building, housing “Stitch Live!”, the new “Playhouse Disney” stage show as well the actual offices of the Disney Channel France, is covered in scaffolding on the sides facing the theme park. First glimpses of the work going on on the top levels indicate that not only is the facade going to be repainted but with a different color scheme! Originally the yellowish color was combined with green and blue accents but the latter seem to be (at least partially) replaced with a red color. Also the small kiosk under construction in front of the building is already showcasing this new, warmer color scheme.

As covered in the past weeks the Backlot Express Restaurant in the Walt Disney Studios is undergoing a major re-themeing / re-decorating indoors. Part of the re-launch of the dining location located in the park’s Backlot area (right next to Restaurant des Stars) is also a name change. In the past weeks the original name was taken off the facade (even so still presented on the new menues featuring pricing partially adjusted to the VAT reduction in France) and first the word “BLOCKBUSTER” appeared in big, capital letters to be followd shortly afterwards with a much smaller “DISNEY” located slight to the top left of the first letter of “Blockbuster”. Now the new name has been officially confirmed by the resort as “Disney Blockbuster Café” … (more…)

When the French financial institute Crédit Mutuel announced that it had become one of the Official Partners of the Disneyland Resort Paris earlier this year it also stated that it would eventually (amongst others) “propose innovative payment alternatives to the resort visitors“. At the time no further information was available but now the resort and Crédit Mutuel have revealed the (maybe only first?) “innovative payment” system to be offered to (selected) guests in the resort: a contactless payment system! As we have just been informed the construction project on the Hollywood Boulevard in the Walt Disney Studios has been completed. Next to the small pin stand the former shop window has been transformed into the park’s first permanent ice cream sales point. Its name: “Specialty Ice Cream”. The new sales point is stocked with 7 unique ice cream styles by Ben & Jerry’s. The ice cream styles offered on Hollywood Boulevard currently are Mint Chocolate, Cookie Dough, Vanilla Caramel Fudge, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Strawberry Cheesecake, Mango Berry Swirl and finally Vanilla Max Havelaar. Fans of Ben & Jerry’s may note that different tastes are available at Gibson Girls’ Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street, U.S.A., which is also presented by Ben & Jerry’s. (more…)

Since its inception the concept of FastPass has resulted in sometimes heated discussions among fans and regular guests whether it created a two class society among guests or was unfari to guests who were not aware of the FastPass system or did not know how to “trick” it to their advantage. Afterall the FastPass system allows guests to obtain one free FastPass at a time for one FastPass enabled attraction such as Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight etc. which then reserves their spot in the line for that attraction, so that they can return at the designated time and bypass the regular line to enter the attraction after a short, roughly 10 minute, wait in a designated FastPass line. With the time passing these discussion died down – but they are sure to be revived now that the Disneyland Resort Paris has started offering an upcharge Premium FastPass for a test phase. (more…)

Despite the busy summer season in full swing the Walt Disney Studios Park is seing several more or less obvious and more or less construction projects going on … time for a wrap up …
The facade of Studio 1 facing toward the Frontlot and seen already by guests approaching the park is still fully covered by scaffolding and a scrim with a printed on replica of the facade. However, geusts shouldn’t expect this to change since – as already reported – there is no actual work going on there right now, but the scaffolding has been retained to allow for easy installation of an oversized advertising poster should Walt Disney Pictures be willing to pay for such step once again. In the meantime the last work on the Walt Disney Studios Store has been finished and the stretch limousine that is used as backdrop for a Meet’n'Greet with various Disney characters has been moved back from in front of Studio 1 to its original place in front of the Studio Store in the past week. However, thereby access to one of the newly added doors have been partially been obstructed again. The real surprising construction work can be found further inside the park … and photos can be found right after this break (more…)

The Government of Hong Kong has officially announced a major expansion plan for Hong Kong Disneyland including three new mini-lands one of which is to be called “Toy Story Land”. While the other two will be exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland for five years from their respective opening, the latter is going to be exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland only within the Asian region (to learn more about the three lands
and the multi year expansion plan for Hong Kong Disneyland visit the Mousekingdom Blog, where we have now published an updated version of our detailed post including concept-art and an official expansion park plan).
“Toy Story Land”? Exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland only in comparison to other Asian Disney resorts, but therefore not to the US resorts and Disneyland Resort Paris??
Hmm… (more…)

The Walt Disney Studios still remain the premier construction site at the Disneyland Resort Paris, if general rehab work is excluded. So time for a short round-up of the status-quo…
The work on the Studio Store is finished. The shop windows have been replaced with wider versions and new, wider entrances to the first and last section of the building been installed as well as the planters in front of these two entrances made considerable smaller to invite guests to take a short diversion into the shop, whose interior has also been carefully re-arranged for a better shopping experience, especially moving the cashiers closer to the exits. As a side-effect the large black limousine used as a photo backdrop for Character Meet’n#Greets was also moved further to the back of the Frontlot in front of the Studio 1, so not to block the entrance to the first part of the Studio Store.
The front facade of Studio 1 facing the Frontlot is still covered by scaffolding covered by a printed canvas of the facade. However, there is no (more…)
