Contactless Payment tested

When the French financial institute Crédit Mutuel announced that it had become one of the Official Partners of the Disneyland Resort Paris earlier this year it also stated that it would eventually (amongst others) “propose innovative payment alternatives to the resort visitors“. At the time no further information was available but now the resort and Crédit Mutuel have revealed the (maybe only first?) “innovative payment” system to be offered to (selected) guests in the resort: a contactless payment system! Ben & Jerry’s going to Hollywood

Ben & Jerry's LogoAs we have just been informed the construction project on the Hollywood Boulevard in the Walt Disney Studios has been completed. Next to the small pin stand the former shop window has been transformed into the park’s first permanent ice cream sales point. Its name: “Specialty Ice Cream”. The new sales point is stocked with 7 unique ice cream styles by Ben & Jerry’s. The ice cream styles offered on Hollywood Boulevard currently are Mint Chocolate, Cookie Dough, Vanilla Caramel Fudge, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Strawberry Cheesecake, Mango Berry Swirl and finally Vanilla Max Havelaar. Fans of Ben & Jerry’s may note that different tastes are available at Gibson Girls’ Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street, U.S.A., which is also presented by Ben & Jerry’s. (more…)

Riding Space MountainSince its inception the concept of FastPass has resulted in sometimes heated discussions among fans and regular guests whether it created a two class society among guests or was unfari to guests who were not aware of the FastPass system or did not know how to “trick” it to their advantage. Afterall the FastPass system allows guests to obtain one free FastPass at a time for one FastPass enabled attraction such as Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight etc. which then reserves their spot in the line for that attraction, so that they can return at the designated time and bypass the regular line to enter the attraction after a short, roughly 10 minute, wait in a designated FastPass line. With the time passing these discussion died down – but they are sure to be revived now that the Disneyland Resort Paris has started offering an upcharge Premium FastPass for a test phase. (more…)

Studios Construction Update

Walt Disney Studios Store Limo 0907Despite the busy summer season in full swing the Walt Disney Studios Park is seing several more or less obvious and more or less construction projects going on … time for a wrap up …

The facade of Studio 1 facing toward the Frontlot and seen already by guests approaching the park is still fully covered by scaffolding and a scrim with a printed on replica of the facade. However, geusts shouldn’t expect this to change since – as already reported – there is no actual work going on there right now, but the scaffolding has been retained to allow for easy installation of an oversized advertising poster should Walt Disney Pictures be willing to pay for such step once again. In the meantime the last work on the Walt Disney Studios Store has been finished and the stretch limousine that is used as backdrop for a Meet’n'Greet with various Disney characters has been moved back from in front of Studio 1 to its original place in front of the Studio Store in the past week. However, thereby access to one of the newly added doors have been partially been obstructed again.
