Directly after the Halloween evening started Disneyland Paris to install the last Christmas decorations.
Especially some shops at the Main Street, the Town Square with the large Christmas tree and the Central Plaza with the little winter wonderland needed a redesign after the Halloween season.

From the 2nd november the Disneyland Park guests could see the daily progress. One of the best points to observe for example the work at the Town Square was from the Disneyland Railroad station at the begin of the Main Street. The installations proceeded also during the days so that all changes have been finished in time before the weekend.

As reported earlier the ongoing re-paving of the parade route in Fantasyland still forces the parade to operate in a unique, limited mode as introduced earlier this year in January when the re-paving project started next to Central Plaza. The parade enters the park on Town Square, moves up the Main Street, circles around Central Plaza and then heads back the Main Street to exit once again on Town Square.
This requires the Once Upon a Dream parade to be short enough to allow the final parade float and dancers to enter Central Plaza before the first float / dancer has circled Central Plaza and heads back onto the Main Street. This required some shortening – in particular the massive float of the Princesses for the final “Dream of Romance” act of the parade had to be cut. Only the smaller princess float of Jasmine and Aladdin remained in the parade, while the other princesses and their princes have to walk along. (more…)

Just two more nights before the Christmas season officially starts at Disneyland Paris. Following closely on the heels of the Halloween season that ended Monday evening the resort is racing at high speed to get the one set of decorations down while the others go up. In fact the resort actually took a head-start to redecorating and decided to go for the “when two holidays collide look” already to the extremly busy final week of the Halloween season.
Already by last weekend at least parts of the Christmas decorations had been installed at all Disney hotels but Disney’s Sequoia Lodge. In fact, Disney’s Hotel New York and the Disneyland Hotel had already their impressive christmas trees in the hotel lobbys set up – while still retaining Halloween decorations in other areas. Disney’s Sequoia Lodge for example features special Halloween decorations in black and orange complete with pumpkins jack-o-lanterns not only in its bar but also its two restaurants. (more…)

Came Monday the summer season officially had ended at Disneyland Paris – meaning shorter opening hours, no more Disney’s Fantillusion Parade and Enchanted Fireworks to end the day and also less street entertainment. That pretty much sums up the “pre-announced” impact that guests will also consider when scheduling their visit. However, once on site guests on Monday could also notice other “off-season” indicators.
Over night the rehabs returned to the resort. Suddenly signs indicating fresh paint that hadn’t be seen for two months popped up like magic. The first such sign most guests of the Disney Hotels may have noticed was at lamp post on the promenade between Disney’s Hotel New York and the Disney Village. But further touch-up painting took also place inside the Disneyland Park. (more…)

Yesterday we reported about the return of the (tweaked) Enchanted Fireworks and the (also tweaked) Disney’s Fantillusion parade for the summer season. However, not every entertainment offering from the past year has made its comeback. In particular smaller offerings such as “Good Morning Studios” and the “Toon Train” in the Studios are gone (as well as the “High School Musical” performance) – without replacement, even so “Stitch or friends” are supposed to pose for photos and sign autographs on the Place des Stars for 3 1/2 hours each afternoon adding to the lineup of characters usually found in Toon Plaza, on the Front Lot and at the Monsters. Inc. photo backdrop. Interestingly the visits of Jack Sparrow to the pirates’ section of the Disney Blockbuster Cafe have been stopped as well. Â The picture at the Disneyland Park is slightly different though… (more…)

Being open to guests 365 days per year means that all renovation, rehab and construction projects in Disneyland Paris have to be conducted in full view of the guests. In particular a highly themed environment such as in a Disney resort certainly is easily interrupted by the large scaffoldings necessary for some of the work, say for example to keep structures such as the detailed facades of the buildings along the Main Street, U.S.A. in the Disneyland Park up to the top notch quality standards of a Disney park. Therefore, several years ago Disneyland Paris began to hide the scaffoldings at building facades during rehabs not behind plain white or uni-colored tarps but huge oversized screen like tarps featuring detailed near-photo quality drawings / replicas of the facades hidden behind the scaffolding. Over the years the various entertainment offerings in both theme parks at Disneyland Paris have been closely scrutinized by fans, a considerable group of whom in the recent years became more and more vocal. Subject of the criticism were in particular the limited amount of entertainment offered outside high season, the sometime as stale or not popular enough perceived offerings and what can only be seen as waste of money by the entertainment team in the form of ordering the construction of a major stage on Central Plaza, when other stages sit mostly unused.
With the “New Generation Festival” starting in April 2010 for both theme parks and the heavy emphasize that the resort itself put on the entertainment offerings the rumor mills started turning fast again and then jumping into overdrive when suddenly reports about the pre-opening cancellation of a small happening planned for the Walt Disney Studios Park surfaced during the past weekend. Unfortunately that is not the only bad report / rumor coming out of the resort for the entertainment offerings … time for a “rumor sum up”! (more…)
