AP Holders a.k.a. the early birds of Toy Story Playland

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

As reported the all new Toy Story Playland has proven extremly popular with guests since it opened in the past week – unfortunately resulting in longer waiting lines for its three attractions. Taking into account this and the success of the exclusive previews of the area prior to its official opening for holders of the Annual Passport Dream the resort has decided to grant all holders of Annual Passports of the resort the unique opportunity to enjoy the Toy Story Playland once again exclusively!

Well, to be correct not just once – but DAILY from August 25 till September 17, 2010! Every day in this period Toy Story Playland opens for holders of Annual Passports from 8:30 till 9:30 am so that AP holders can enjoy the area uncrowded and hop on all three rides (which are scheduled to be operating unless an unexpected technical problem might occur) without the now regular long lines. Free Soft Drink?!

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Since 2009 Disneyland Paris has repeatedly run a promotion offering a free softdrink to be collected between 3 pm and 5 pm at selected counter service locations in the two theme parks. In fact the promotion has pretty much run continuously now with the exception of the winter months during which the free soft drink was replaced with a free hot drink.

How to get the free drink? Originally one free drink was offered with each receipt issued at a counter service location in the two parks during the morning and lunch hours. This program, while not advertised anywhere, still runs. Most lately the offer has been expanded to include receipts issued during the same time window in the shops of both parks (without any advertising as well). (more…)

Buffalo Bill getting desperate?

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show seems to continue to struggle to fill the vast arena on a nearly daily bases in the Disney Village. Despite having added “Mickey and friends” last year and the boosted advertising all throughout the resort special offers are popping up more and more often.

After special rates for cast members now a special rate for guests of the parks has been set up. As small DIN-A-4 “posters” in the windows of the ticket counters inform guests they can save up to 20 EUR with their theme park passport when buying tickets for the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show for the same day – a considerable savings that might upset quite a few Disney Hotel guests who are remainded to book tickets for the dinner show already when making their reservations for a Disney package.

Buffalo Bill’s Wild West dinner show has been presented nearly daily in the custom built arena in the Disney Village since the opening of the resort in 1992. While there were rumors about a potential replacement in 2000/1 (mentioning a potential Zorro theme for a follow-up show) the show was only tweaked over the years – so maybe it is time for a replacement to attract return visits from return guests of the resort ? What do YOU think?

From Ice Cream to Souvenir Photos

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

As the special discount on ice cream for all Annual Passport holders at Fantasia Gelati has come to an end another special discount offer has been put in place since the past Saturday … a special discount for souvenir photos in both theme parks and selected Disney Hotels! The offer is good since the past Saturday till May 31st, 2010 and applies to one souvenir photo for the Annual Passport Francilien and Fantasy holders respectively one souvenir photo and the paper frame (“cadre”) for Annual Passport Dream holders, in both cases for the photo size 15 x 20 cm. Alternative airline for UK guests – UPDATED

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Since its grand opening in 1992 Disneyland Paris has been closely associated with Air France which acted as the resort’s official airline. Last year Air France was even recruited by the resort in its effort to bolster the attendance numbers by handing out free one day passports to its passengers flying into Paris (as we reported over on the Mousekingdom Blog). However, unnoticed by many flybe, a low cost carrier flying from various UK airports into Paris (using Charles de Gaule airport there) and thus a competitor of Air France on some routes, run a similar promotion for a free one day passport as well plus a 15% discount on all additional passports (even so the promotion ended prior to the Air France promotion already at the end of June instead the end of September).

The promotion must have been a success as the resort teamed up one more time with flybe later in the year, offering up to 50% discounts on 2 night packages in the Disney Hotels leading up to the christmas days (and yes, this promotion has ended as well). Looking back these two promotions seem to have been tests by the resort’s management and the UK airline whether a partnership made sense. The results of the tests? (more…)

“I could need a hot drink now…”

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

There are very few things Disney fans like more than to stroll around Disneyland Paris on a cold winter day and enjoying the wonderful Christmas decorations. But after a while one often feels the need to warm up with a nice hot chocolate, coffee or tea. Disneyland Paris now makes wandering through the parks even more comfortable and offers guests a small hot drink for free in the afternoon upon presentation of a receipt that is handed out with every lunch bought earlier in the day.

The receipts may be used in several restaurants throughout both parks. A full list of these can be viewed on the voucher (click to enlarge). The promotion was widely popular early in 2009 and then (with a free cold soft drink replacing the free hot drink) during the past summer season.
