Time for Main Street News (updated)

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

With the countdown to the official start of the summer officially finished since yesterday most (if not all) rehab projects of spring should have come to a closure as well. On Main Street, U.S.A. the scaffolding covering the complete Disney Clothiers building came down nearly two weeks ago and by now – if everything went as scheduled – the scaffolding at Town Square Photography should have come down as well which it unfortunately still has not done on Monday July 5. But on to change for which we actually have a photo… (more…)

Chance to Win a VIP trip

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

If you want to take a chance to win a VIP trip for 4 to Disneyland Paris at the occassion of the New Generation Festival you should visit the website Vacature and answer two questions. One of the answers you can find on the side, the second one will be a guess on how many people enterred the competition. Just keep in mind: the website (and the competition) is in Dutch.

The lucky winners will get a room in Disney’s New York Hotel for 2 nights, tickets for both theme parks for 3 nights and VIP FastPass tickets so they will not have to queue on any of the attractions that offer FastPass service.

The competition ends on the 28th April at 1.00 pm local time. Good luck!

Princess Tiana Ball

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Yesterday Disney’s The Princess and the Frog finally arrived on DVD and BluRay in German shops. In each jewel case eager buyers of Disney’s latest animated feature will find a leaflet advertising the New Generation Festival at Disneyland Paris. Certainly it is not called “New Generation Festival” here. Instead the official name of the festival for the German market is used: New Stars Festival – which funnily is English as well. On the back side of the leaflet however it gets really interesting… (more…)

The New Generation Festival in Fantasia Gardens

Friday, April 16th, 2010

The Fantasia Gardens in front of the Disneyland Hotel offers a pleasant relaxed atmosphere for a break during the day and certainly some of the quintessential photo opportunities for first time guests on their way into the Disneyland Park. As it is tradition for several years now the lampposts in the gardens have been adorned with new banners announcing this year’s festival – the New Generation Festival. (more…)

More New Generation Festival Decorations

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

We have already talked about the rather subtle decorations for the New Generation Festival that have been carefully blended into the theme of the Main Street, U.S.A. However, not every decoration is that subtle. Case in point: the decorations set up at selected entrances of The Disney Store in the Disney Village, the Emporium on the Main Street in the Disneyland Park and the Studio Store in the Walt Disney Studios. New Generation Heroes Want you to Read Books

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

The new Disney heroes generation is concerned with the youth of today. They are concerned that youngsters aren’t reading enough! To try and convince the children books are a good alternative to the new generation of video game entertainment they have agreed to put up their images to try and convince kids to get reading again.

What better way to start enjoying the power of the word and strengthen childrens’ imagination than with a good Disney story?

A Main Street with Character

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

April 2010 has arrived and with it the “New Generation Festival” … and with the latter: new decorations in the Disneyland Park. However, this year for the first time since 2007 the castle is not decorated for the latest year-long celebration – the Main Street, U.S.A. on the other hand – there are new decorations.

Gone are the oversized light poles along the Main Street, U.S.A., which were originally created especially for the Christmas Season as replacement for the “Lights of Winter Arches” (which didn’t allow the latest parade floats to pass through respectively the Fantillusion floats to perform their transformation at night) but then kept throughout the year during the 15th anniversary celebrations, before being pruned in number for the 2008 summer season. And gone with the huge whites poles are also the oversized posters annuncing the latest celebratiion disrupting the theme and the size ratios of the Main Street. So what are the new decorations? Well the photos have given it away …

New Generation Festival Merchandise

Monday, April 12th, 2010

With the New Generation Festival a whole collection of merchandise has arrived in the shops and boutiques across the whole Disneyland Paris. However, so far only one item features a specific logo  naming the “New Generation Festival”: a red t-shirt, available in children size only. The remainder of the new merchandise that arrived for the start of the festival prominently features the characters at the heart of the festival in bright colors – in particular the stars of Pixar, such as Remy, Mike, Sully, Nemo, Woody etc., but certainly also Tiana who was officially welcomed to the resort as part of the festival.

The recurring theme of the new merchandise (a whole gallery of which you can find below the jump in  this post) are colorful close-ups of the faces of the various stars of the festival. However, if not a “New Generation Festival” logo there is another new logo artwork that features prominently on the extremly bright and colorful merchandise… (more…)

Woody, Buzz & friends

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Since April 2 guests of the two theme parks at Disneyland Paris receive the first edition of the current park maps not only featuring indications for the special entertainment that is part of the “New Generation Festival” but also announcing the upcoming Toy Story Playland in the Walt Disney Studios Park.

The new area is already fully featured in the new park map with all three of its attractions plus the designation “Opening end of Summer 2010″ in the description. Any other noteable changes in the park maps? Yes, for the WDS obviously the route of the Tram Tour was adjusted. However, hopes shouldn’t be getting too high, the park map does not indicate anything but the adjustment of the track route – no hints of any kind that new stuff might have been placed alongside the route during the current lengthy closure of this attraction. But there are some interesting details regarding the Toy Story Playland respectively its attractions in the map… (more…)

New Show being prepared for Disneyland Paris! (updated)

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Just one respectively two days ago we summed up the rumors regarding the entertainment offerings at the Disneyland Park and at the Walt Disney Studios Park coming to the conclusion that the range might be rather limited despite the “New Generation Festival” starting in April – in particular since one announced happening in the studios, “Monsters Inc. Scream Academy”, is rumored to have been cancelled prior to its premier (despite its cast having already been assigned) and the fact that it is still not confirmed whether the rumored show “Disney Showtime Spectacular” (replacing “It’s Party Time … with Mickey and Friends” on the Central Plaza Stage) in the Disneyland Park will be performed multiple times throughout the day or just once in the evening. However, now we learned that TODAY an open casting is conducted by Disneyland Paris for an all new show in a dance studio in Pantin! (more…)
