He has landed in Paris, Duffy the Bear. Duffy is traveling the world and has made his way into the Disneyland Paris parks shops. Disney is targeting young children, with this new “Disney” bear, making it hard to resist for parents to open their wallets or purses. He is a real sweet and ready to be taken home for cuddles and love. But you can’t just get the bear alone! He will need some things to wear.
The bear has several different outfits he can wear. All these outfits can be bought separately in the shop. There are already a nice assortment of different clothing assemblies to choose from, but guest can expect this range to grow over time. The range of clothing has several Disney related movie theme’s like Buzz and Cars, but also Pirates among others. There are also special sets that can be picket up. For example, during Christmas season the bear can be bought in a Christmas outfit.

The bear is getting a lot of attention in Disneyland Paris. He is represented all over the resort. You can find him in most stores in both parks, the Disney Village and the hotels. There seems to be one shop that has some extra love for the bear and it looks like it that this shop will be the central Duffy place. The small, but wonderful, Storybook Store at Main Street U.S.A is the place to be for new Duffy fans. You’ll see some extra decoration dedicated to the bear. It already starts outside the shop where guest can see a collection of big suitcases with stickers showing of all the places he has visited before he came to Paris.
To make sure visitor will follow the bears footprints, or should we say paw prints, stickers of his paws have been placed on the floor in front of the shop. Once guest have entered the shop they are greeted by an over sized Duffy. He is sitting behind the post office desk inside the shop. This desk used to be Tigger’s place, but it seems that Tigger is now (unfortunately) gone for good to make place for the new bear.
The bear comes with a nice back story to give it a reason of existence in the Disney world. With Mickey Mouse traveling around the world so much (he needs to be at many places to make many children happy), Minnie made him a special bear to take along. Minnie made the bear when Mickey set out sail on a long sea voyage. She made the bear so Mickey would never be lonely. Mickey loved the bear and named it Duffy. Once back home Mickey and Duffy shared their magical memories with Minnie.
If children want to know about these memories they can buy a Duffy book. The book will tell you about Duffy’s adventures. An ideal addition for Duffy fans to read before it’s “night, night” time.
Duffy was originally created and sold at the Once Upon a Toy Story at Walt Disney World but it was in Tokyo where he became popular. The bear started of as “the Disney Bear” but was named Duffy once he reached DisneySea Tokyo where he was promoted to such an extend that everybody had to had one in Tokyo. Duffy was re-introduced at Epcot at Walt Disney World in October 2010. Then he went to Hong Kong Disneyland, Popped up at Disney’s California Adventure and was finally introduced at Disneyland Paris in November 2011.
To make sure guest will get to know the new Disney character he will get greet and meet area’s and might be integrated in parades and special festivities like Christmas.

Are you looking for that very special christmas gift for a true Mickey Mouse fan? Or do you need something to adorne the entrance hall of your villa? No need to think about the price of the item? Than you should drop by the Gallery Mickey shop located on the first floor of the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris!
A huge Mickey Mouse figurine limited to just 250 copies has been put on sale here at the price of EUR 3,500. However, the limited figurine is really a giant one. The photo on the left shows the shop window that reaches from the floor all the way to the top of the doors – just to give you a reference for the figurines height.
As the size would make it rather difficult to transport the figurine back home for guests shipping is available depending on the destination at EUR 149.50 in France, EUR 299.00 in Europe respectively starting at EUR 1,200.00 by airfreight to other international destinations.

Disneyland Resort Paris and the Belgian town Blankenberge are working together to bring the Disneyland Paris theme park to the seaside. How? By building a replica of the park and both the Disney and Pixar characters on the beach by using sand during the “sand sculpture festival”.
For more information on the event, the theme and what to expect, follow our sister blog Mousekingdom. We will be there to see the result and will bring full coverage of the festival on the mousekingdom blog too.

The new Nintendo WII “Epic Mickey” video game by Disney Interactive is strongly advertised in the whole resort. The game is an exclusive for the Wii platform and they are going to try everything to get fans and gamers attention, so the game will be found under many Christmas trees. That’s if you can wait this long as the game, previously set with a European release date on November 25, is already widely available since November 19. The release for North America is set for November 30 and it looks like the USA will indeed have to wait a little longer to get the game as there are no indications the release date will be pushed forward in the USA too. Looking for a business solution for your next event? Disney can provide you the right room and space in a magical location. The business centers in Disney’s Hotel New York and Disney’s Newport Bay Club are very popular locations but sometimes aren’t big enough, fully booked or not fitting for the event. Therefor Disney has some other offers at its hands at well – including amongst others the Disney Events Arena located on the former Disney Village parking lot between the Disney Village and Disney’s Newport Bay Club. As reported earlier when the tent was reconstructed after a full cleaning earlier this year it spotted a new logo.
In the meantime an inverse version of the logo (white print on black background instead of blue print on white background) has been placed on a poster that was instellaed on the construction fence next to the tent at the end of the Earl of Sandwich construction site. The poster carries the title “Business Solutions” and shows the website link for more information on the events department. (more…)

Over the years the various entertainment offerings in both theme parks at Disneyland Paris have been closely scrutinized by fans, a considerable group of whom in the recent years became more and more vocal. Subject of the criticism were in particular the limited amount of entertainment offered outside high season, the sometime as stale or not popular enough perceived offerings and what can only be seen as waste of money by the entertainment team in the form of ordering the construction of a major stage on Central Plaza, when other stages sit mostly unused.
With the “New Generation Festival” starting in April 2010 for both theme parks and the heavy emphasize that the resort itself put on the entertainment offerings the rumor mills started turning fast again and then jumping into overdrive when suddenly reports about the pre-opening cancellation of a small happening planned for the Walt Disney Studios Park surfaced during the past weekend. Unfortunately that is not the only bad report / rumor coming out of the resort for the entertainment offerings … time for a “rumor sum up”! (more…)

The merchandise team of Disneyland Paris is trying to update the products in the shops regularly. This means on one hand new or updated merchandise shwoing up in the shops and on the other hand out-going, discontinued  merchandise being offered with discounts (as currently the case with the remaining products featuring the “2009″ numbers and themes prominently.
Some of the changes to the merchandise are rather small and hard to spot others really jump into the eye of frequent guests. (more…)

The summer promotion offers in the shop might have come to an end a couple of weeks ago but the next promotions have already been displayed since back then. This “new” promotion is valid for the rest of the September month with a lot of merchandise on offer in many of the different Disneyland shops. Some of the shops show so many red promotion cards it feels as if half of the shops goods are on sale.
Good for Disney bargain hunters or if you need to bring lots of present home for those that stayed behind.
The collection of articles reduced varies from small to big items. What stand out are the Mickey Magical Party items, they are all on the promotion shelves. However the products with the biggest discounts are the Go Green collection. This collection is being offered with a 40% off the regular price.
Picking something up from these shelves should give you a double good feeling. You save 40% and you’re doing some good for the environment.
The promotion end on the 1st of October, but could well be the day the next promotion takes over.Die Rabattaktion läuft bis zum 30.09.

In a follow up to the post earlier today covering the various marketing measures and a special discount promotion for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show it now seems that the (in the meantime taken down) big poster on the facade of the entrance to the show arena in the Disney Village was just a temporary place holder. In the meantime a huge 3-dimensional figure of Mickey Mouse dressed up as cowboy (complete with cowboy hat but with his regular yellow boots) has been attached to the wall. The figure has been designed to give the impression that Mickey climbed down on a rope from the roof top and (with his feet against the wall) pushes himself away to wink at the guests.

The first weekend of the summer season has been managed at the Disneyland Resort Paris (or Disneyland Paris as it now states on the updated website) … and there have been at least two surprises already. The first one: “Good Morning Main Street, U.S.A.” – the happening to start the day has been revived and is now scheduled for daily performances at 10.15 am on Central Plaza!
This calvacade was part of the original entertainment in the opening year of 1992 but had been discontinued, even so it saw short lived revivals, such as earlier this year with the Disney Character Express received its make-over to become “Minnie’s Party Train”. In 1992 the calvacade consisted of the Main Street Vehicles, on board of which various Disney character drove along the Main Street, while even more characters and dancers in turn of the century costumes danced down the Main Street. In addition cast members of the shops came out on the side walk waving signs announcing “Good Morning” in various languages. For the 2009 version of “Good Morning Main Street, U.S.A.” the Disneyland Park reuses the original catchy soundtrack, also the Disney characters on the Main Street Vehicles and walking along are still there. However, the dancers in period costumes haven’t made it back and neither have the cast members waving their signs on the side walk. Still guests reacted very positively to the new addition, in particular since the calvacade stops on Central Plaza (where “Dancin’ A Catch Rhythm” is then played) to allow for a meet’n'greet with the characters before returning down Main Street.
The second surprise? (more…)
