Goofy & Pooh Forgotten?

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Yesterday we reported about the return of the (tweaked) Enchanted Fireworks and the (also tweaked) Disney’s Fantillusion parade for the summer season. However, not every entertainment offering from the past year has made its comeback. In particular smaller offerings such as “Good Morning Studios” and the “Toon Train” in the Studios are gone (as well as the “High School Musical” performance) – without replacement, even so “Stitch or friends” are supposed to pose for photos and sign autographs on the Place des Stars for 3 1/2 hours each afternoon adding to the lineup of characters usually found in Toon Plaza, on the Front Lot and at the Monsters. Inc. photo backdrop. Interestingly the visits of Jack Sparrow to the pirates’ section of the Disney Blockbuster Cafe have been stopped as well.  The picture at the Disneyland Park is slightly different though… (more…)

Entertainment Rumors Summed Up (updated)

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Over the years the various entertainment offerings in both theme parks at Disneyland Paris have been closely scrutinized by fans, a considerable group of whom in the recent years became more and more vocal. Subject of the criticism were in particular the limited amount of entertainment offered outside high season, the sometime as stale or not popular enough perceived offerings and what can only be seen as waste of money by the entertainment team in the form of ordering the construction of a major stage on Central Plaza, when other stages sit mostly unused.

With the “New Generation Festival” starting in April 2010 for both theme parks and the heavy emphasize that the resort itself put on the entertainment offerings the rumor mills started turning fast again and then jumping into overdrive when suddenly reports about the pre-opening cancellation of a small happening planned for the Walt Disney Studios Park surfaced during the past weekend. Unfortunately that is not the only bad report / rumor coming out of the resort for the entertainment offerings … time for a “rumor sum up”! (more…)

Feed the Birds

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Do not feed the Birds… sings the old beggars woman on the steps of St. Paul in the Disney classic “Mary Poppins”. The classic song by the Sherman Brothers is often said to have been one of Walt Disney’s personal favorites. The story often told by the two brothers is that Walt used to call them up to his office on many Friday afternoons so that they would play the song for him. However, that is a different story – and a different time.

Nowadays it is prohibited in many places to feed the birds – feeding birds attracts more and more birds to areas where they are regularly fed, introduces the danger of the birds loosing their natural habits and also brings along the risk of new diseases to be transmitted from the birds to humans, not to mention the problems that the feces of the birds pose. In light of this Disneyland Paris is also trying to discourage its guests from feeding birds on property and has lately added new signs asking guests to stop feeding birds – such as the sign seen depicted here which was photographed in Discoveryland.

Walt Disney World’s very own PanoraMagique

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

panoramagique01The balloon ride, PanoraMagique, in the Disney village opened on 9 April 2005. The ballon can carry around up to 30 passengers 100 meters into the sky for a fantastic view of Disneyland Resort Paris. The ride heavily depends on good weather, once the wind is to strong or rain takes over the sky the balloon is grounded. Even so, when the clouds disappear the attraction becomes a popular ride for those adventurers not to feint at heart. With the success story in France  a new version is opening in Walt Disney World. Its counterpart under the name “Characters in Flight” will open on April 1st in Downtown Disney.

The new version has a new decorative look. This time different Disney characters are added on the balloon while the Paris version only has Tinkerbell on the balloon. In the Walt Disney World version you will find (more…)
