New Food

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

As reported the Pizza Planet restaurant in Discoveryland has been transformed from a founder service location into an all-you-can-eat buffet. As guests pay when entering the counter area before getting access to the seating area and can at all times return to the counters for extra-helpings unfortunately with the introduction of the parks’ cheapest all-you-can-eat buffet access to the indoor playground of e restaurant has been limited to paying patrons. But that is not the only change that came with the already popular new offering … gone is also e option to drop by the restaurant to grab the restaurant’s unique “pizza burger” available nowhere else in the restaurant. But fans of unique fast food creations should not despair for a new, unique offering has been added to another menu in Disneyland… (more…)

Scaffolding – Disney Style

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Being open to guests 365 days per year means that all renovation, rehab and construction projects in Disneyland Paris have to be conducted in full view of the guests. In particular a highly themed environment such as in a Disney resort certainly is easily interrupted by the large scaffoldings necessary for some of the work, say for example to keep structures such as the detailed facades of the buildings along the Main Street, U.S.A. in the Disneyland Park up to the top notch quality standards of a Disney park. Therefore, several years ago Disneyland Paris began to hide the scaffoldings at building facades during rehabs not behind plain white or uni-colored tarps but huge oversized screen like tarps featuring detailed near-photo quality drawings / replicas of the facades hidden behind the scaffolding. To try and convince the children books are a good alternative to the new generation of video game entertainment they have agreed to put up their images to try and convince kids to get reading again.

A Main Street with Character

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

April 2010 has arrived and with it the “New Generation Festival” … and with the latter: new decorations in the Disneyland Park. However, this year for the first time since 2007 the castle is not decorated for the latest year-long celebration – the Main Street, U.S.A. on the other hand – there are new decorations.

Gone are the oversized light poles along the Main Street, U.S.A., which were originally created especially for the Christmas Season as replacement for the “Lights of Winter Arches” (which didn’t allow the latest parade floats to pass through respectively the Fantillusion floats to perform their transformation at night) but then kept throughout the year during the 15th anniversary celebrations, before being pruned in number for the 2008 summer season. And gone with the huge whites poles are also the oversized posters annuncing the latest celebratiion disrupting the theme and the size ratios of the Main Street. So what are the new decorations? Well the photos have given it away …

The Dining Capacity In Winter

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

The past busy summer season in both theme parks of Disneyland Paris saw the usual crowds descending on the restaurants during the core lunch and dinner hours. And even so the capacity in the table service restaurants of the Disneyland Park on most days was sufficient (and guests rarely had to be turned away), lines in the counter service and buffet locations were considerable and at times lengthy. In the Studios the influx as usually was handled by the numerous outdoor vending cars and in particular the seating in the La Terrasse area in front of the Tower of Terror. The Disneyland Park reacted not only by operating all restaurants with daily schedules for most of the summer but also by adding extra outdoor areas… (more…)

Construction Update

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Under ConstructionWith the official end of the summer season past Sunday the work crews have returned to the Disneyland Park in full force – after a 1 1/2 month break, considering that some projects started in late spring actually finished only during high season. So which projects are currently in progress?

On Main Street, U.S.A., not a single major project is underway – but painters are busy touching up the facades in various changing locations every day. Construction Work Last Chance CafeHowever, once guests turn into Frontierland they will encounter the first major project: The Last Chance Cafe – the only project that is already underway since early August. In the meantime the construction walls not only block access to the counter service restaurant and its terrace but have extended to also block of the planters that separate that terrace from the patio of the Lucky Nugget Saloon next doors. So far the signage of The Last Chance Cafe seems to have been taken off the building’s facade – but the real news are the wooden structures on the former terrace! (more…)
