Construction at both ends

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

From the construction at one end of the Disney Village (the future Earl of Sandwich restaurant facing toward Lake Disney) we are heading straight to the other end of the Disney Village to take a look at the construction for the building that will become the new “face” that shall attract regular day-time guests to head into the Village after a day in the parks. However, the construction in front of the huge Gaumont multiplex cinema structure has not yet as far progressed as the Earl of Sandwich… (more…)

Hurricane’s under High Pressure

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Since its closure earlier this year no progress has been visible at the outside of the former Hurricane’s night club / disco in the Disney Village. While a replacement by an Italian Pizza Restaurant had been rumored prior to the closure, no according work has been seen and the rumors have pretty much died down again. Construction fences in front of the former nightclub entrance earlier this year turned out to be in place only since some plumbing work underneath the floor leading down to the future site of the Earl of Sandwich location had to be conducted. All elements of the exterior facade and decoration but one neon sign have remained in place.

Now it seems as if this current status might be there to stay a bit longer since recently crews moved in and cleaned the building’s exterior (and the decoration elements of the entrance) with high pressure cleaners.

Culinary Construction Sites

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Guests currently visiting the Disney Village will find its lower end toward Lake Disney in a state of construction with currently two groups of construction fences close to each other.

Coming from the Disney Hotels respectively Lake Disney a new construcion fence is going up blocking the access to the bridge leading across the little side arm of the lake from the open space next to the Rainforest Cafe to the entrance of the former parking lot, now home to the convention tent next to the Disney Village Dome. Speaking of the convention tent: it was a bare steel skeleton a couple of weeks ago, but now the tent fabric is beeing re-added, with the rear section already having received the wall and top fabric and only the front segment still a bare steel skeleton. However, back to the construction fence. It not only blocks access to the bridge from the side of the former parking lot but has also been errected along the full length of the bridge, so that guests can’t look onto / across the bridge from the lake. In addition the construction fence blocks off the area from the bridge to the Rainforest Cafe, which was used till last year for a carousel, leading up all the way to the walls of the building. In fact it even blocks off the side-entrance to the Rainforest Cafe. (more…)
