Goofy & Pooh Forgotten?

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Yesterday we reported about the return of the (tweaked) Enchanted Fireworks and the (also tweaked) Disney’s Fantillusion parade for the summer season. However, not every entertainment offering from the past year has made its comeback. In particular smaller offerings such as “Good Morning Studios” and the “Toon Train” in the Studios are gone (as well as the “High School Musical” performance) – without replacement, even so “Stitch or friends” are supposed to pose for photos and sign autographs on the Place des Stars for 3 1/2 hours each afternoon adding to the lineup of characters usually found in Toon Plaza, on the Front Lot and at the Monsters. Inc. photo backdrop. Interestingly the visits of Jack Sparrow to the pirates’ section of the Disney Blockbuster Cafe have been stopped as well.  The picture at the Disneyland Park is slightly different though… (more…)

Go Cats! Go Away…

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

What’s hot today is out tomorrow. It happens to most trends and it seems to be no different for the High School Musical franchise. Although the official end of the franchise might still be some time away, as a new (made for tv) movie with new actors is still supposed to be among the future projects of the original US Disney Channel, the previous trilogy’s fame seems to be fading. With the according rolling stage show in the Walt Disney Studios returned the HSM merchandise at least seems to receive its final curtain call in Disneyland Paris.

For those still loving the movies this could be good news too as prices on High School Musical products are coming down. In Disneyland Paris you can now find High School Musical items in the discount corners of various resort shops – e.g. the Emporium in the Disneyland Park as seen here.

Entertainment Rumors Summed Up – Part II

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

After yesterday’s (in the meantime twice updated) look at the rumors regarding the entertainment in the Disneyland Park for the upcoming months, today it’s time to look at the second theme park at Disneyland Paris: the Walt Disney Studios Park. First the good news: all of the major entertainment offerings will continue – but then it was never doubted that Animagique, CinĂ©Magique, Playhouse Disney Live on Stage! (only added in 2009), Stitch Live! or Motors … Action! Stunt Show Spectacular would continue. Sure the number of performances are tweaked every now and then (in particular for the stunt show) depending on the season but those shows are among the landmark attractions of the theme park for certain groups of guests. However, the offering of additional entertainment on the streets of the park as well as on the Production Courtyard stage is something different … (more…)

Disney Blockbuster CafĂ© – Original or Not?

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Blockbuster Cafe - Pirates AreaIt has been a while since we were able to report progress in the transformation of the former “Backlot Express” restaurant in the Walt Disney Studios to its new “Disney Blockbuster CafĂ©” incarnation – however, at the last update the interior (and exterior) seemed pretty much finished with only the display cases in both the Pirates of the Caribbean section and the (on the majority of days closed) expansion room of the High School Musical area still empty. However, finally these display cases have been outfitted with content as well. (more…)

Disney Blockbuster Café

Friday, July 24th, 2009

As covered in the past weeks the Backlot Express Restaurant in the Walt Disney Studios is undergoing a major re-themeing / re-decorating indoors. Part of the re-launch of the dining location located in the park’s Backlot area (right next to Restaurant des Stars) is also a name change. In the past weeks the original name was taken off the facade (even so still presented on the new menues featuring pricing partially adjusted to the VAT reduction in France) and first the word “BLOCKBUSTER” appeared in big, capital letters to be followd shortly afterwards with a much smaller “DISNEY” located slight to the top left of the first letter of “Blockbuster”. Now the new name has been officially confirmed by the resort as “Disney Blockbuster CafĂ©” … (more…)
