Test a Disney Dream

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

Disneyland has started testing the new “Disney Dreams” Show, the show especially created for the 20th anniversary of Disneyland Paris, inside the park. The test includes the show, that will be projected on the castle, and the new music. It’s not know if all show elements are already included in this first test phase, but one can expect if not all elements are there yet more and more to be added until the full show can take place.

Those test are taking place during afterhours with no general public in the park, but if you are staying at the Disneyland hotel the coming months you might see a little more of the magic before the premiere.

Especially those staying at the Castle Club level will be able to see a little early “Disney Dreams” magic. The show itself will be part of the new Disneyland Paris programme that will officially start as from April 1st. The night time show “Disney Dreams” will be filled with Disney characters that are being projected on the castle. But that’s only the beginning of what looks like an amazing display of Disney magic. There will be tons of other projections on the castle and on water screens in front of it. There will be water fountains and fire, an amazing new music score and a collection of other surprises.

Disney is starting to share some official information about the show via a new video they posted on the web. Here you’ll see the Imagineers, including Steven Davison (creator of Disneyland’s World of Color in Anaheim), whom worked on the show talking about what to expect. The video already shows some of the projections, including a scene with Peter Pan (what is rumoured to be the opening scene), pyrotechnics, fire effects, water fountains and even a short Mickey Mouse teaser. A very nice preview for those fans that can’t wait.

Also in the video is some information about the new “Disney Magic on Parade!” Disneyland Resort will get. The new floats include a Castle float, horse carriages with princesses and a fantastic looking final float celebrating the 20 years of Disney magic in Paris. There are also some pictures included in the video with the Disney characters and their new costumes they will wear during the festivities. They are very colourful and look like fun, especially Goofy’s green outfit can’t be missed.

Only a couple of months left before we can enjoy this amazing looking show for Disneyland Paris 20th anniversary celebration. Not to be missed!

Flashy Life Belts

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

It’s probably not the best idea to go swimming at Lake Disney. First of all it wouldn’t be that save and it “might be” frowned upon if you would decide to take a plunge. However, in case somebody would fall into the water, by accident or not, it’s a good idea to have some safety equipment in place.

Disney has added new Life belts all around the lake. The belts are added in easy to access spaces with an approximately 50 meters of distance between each other. When somebody would fall into the water and help is needed bystanders will be able to quickly get one of the belts and trow them towards the person in need until they either make it out of the water themselves or until help arrives.

One must admit that they are no eye candy. The bright colors are a little of an eyesore and don’t fit the theme of the Lake Disney area, but safety comes first. Let’s hope they’ll never have to be used and nobody falls into the cold water, but it’s still good to know that safety measures are in places in case of a mishap.

Villages Nature go online

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

As brought to our attention by DLRPToday the often talked about joint-venture project of the Euro Disney and Pierre & Vacances Center Parcs adjacent to the current Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch has taken the next step: Les Villages Nature de Val d’Europe (as the official current full name of the project is) has gone online with an extensive website in French, including artist impressions and a first map which also includes the current Disney’s Davy Croockett Ranch on the page Caractéristiques du projet.

On the Disney side the project is spearheaded by Imagineering which is already deply involved at the current point and has sent personnel over them USA. However, it should be noted that the project is still in the planning phase so any and all data might change. Nevertheless, the website gives a good impression about the first phase of the project that is supposed to include 1,730 new “rooms” (710 apartments around the central lagoon plus 1,020 cottages further south on the property), the (supposedly with 9,000 square meter) largest water park in Europe, restaurants, retail options and additional leisure facilities. Recharge now – at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

Need to recharge during the first half of the day when the bar at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge is still closed? No problem – for a while already a coffee vending machine is helping with that (for EUR 2 per hot drink). However, if it’s not you but your mobile phone or iPod that needs recharging … well a coffee machine is not going to be much help. Things get even worse if the charger / power adapter has gone missing or has been forgotten at home.

A couple of years ago a re-charging station for selected mobile phone brands had been set up at one of the counters in the Disneyland Hotel. But as DLRPStuff reported on twitter an all new charging system has been set-up in the lobby of Disney’s Sequoia Lodge most recently. (more…)

Security Check at SQL

Monday, April 4th, 2011

We have to admit: considering that SQL is the official IATA airport code for the San Carlos Airport in San Mateo County, California, USA the headline could be a bit misleading – afterall we are not talking about security measures at said airport but at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge, the Disney Hotel at Disneyland Paris which is abbreviated to SQL. Revenue UP!

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

Even with a big money pit still to fill, and the difficult financial times so many are witnessing, EuroDisney S.C.A. revenue is growing as we can see in the first quarter of this fiscal year. The biggest growth is the Hotels and Disney Village revenue. Here EuroDisney S.C.A. Sees an increase of a wealthy 14%. This because of an increase of 5,6% in hotel occupancy and a 7% increase in average spending per room. This translates in more filled rooms with more guests that have spend more to stay as was the case in the previous year.

Park revenue has also gone up. Numbers aren’t that high but still positive.  A 3% revenue increase compared to the previous year. This comes from a 2% increase in park spending per guests and the 1% increase in visitors. Visitors from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands have decreased, but extra visitors from France and Belgium made sure that this loss has been compensated into a positive number. (more…)

Christmas decorations at the Cheyenne hotel have gone up and are keeping it in the cowboy theme. At the main entrance guest can already see some of the decorations that set the theme at the whole hotel.
