Yesterday we reported about the return of the (tweaked) Enchanted Fireworks and the (also tweaked) Disney’s Fantillusion parade for the summer season. However, not every entertainment offering from the past year has made its comeback. In particular smaller offerings such as “Good Morning Studios” and the “Toon Train” in the Studios are gone (as well as the “High School Musical” performance) – without replacement, even so “Stitch or friends” are supposed to pose for photos and sign autographs on the Place des Stars for 3 1/2 hours each afternoon adding to the lineup of characters usually found in Toon Plaza, on the Front Lot and at the Monsters. Inc. photo backdrop. Interestingly the visits of Jack Sparrow to the pirates’ section of the Disney Blockbuster Cafe have been stopped as well. Â The picture at the Disneyland Park is slightly different though… (more…)

Goofy & Pooh Forgotten?
Tuesday, July 6th, 2010Entertainment Rumors Summed Up (updated)
Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010Over the years the various entertainment offerings in both theme parks at Disneyland Paris have been closely scrutinized by fans, a considerable group of whom in the recent years became more and more vocal. Subject of the criticism were in particular the limited amount of entertainment offered outside high season, the sometime as stale or not popular enough perceived offerings and what can only be seen as waste of money by the entertainment team in the form of ordering the construction of a major stage on Central Plaza, when other stages sit mostly unused.
With the “New Generation Festival” starting in April 2010 for both theme parks and the heavy emphasize that the resort itself put on the entertainment offerings the rumor mills started turning fast again and then jumping into overdrive when suddenly reports about the pre-opening cancellation of a small happening planned for the Walt Disney Studios Park surfaced during the past weekend. Unfortunately that is not the only bad report / rumor coming out of the resort for the entertainment offerings … time for a “rumor sum up”! (more…)
One Out, One In

Goofy’s Summer Camp closed its doors with a final performance at 5:15 pm one week ago today – one more time the dedicated cast danced like a whirlewind across the wide stage of the Chaparral Theater, certainly adding some small extra comedy moments for the final performance (at one point even distracting the driver of the small golf cart bringing Goofy onstage enough, so that he drove into the rockwork of the set – without any real damage). Just one day later the construction crews moved into the theater and started moving the sand off the stage to prepare it for “Mickey’s Winter Wonderland” show, which will transport guests into a snow covered mountain setting as of November. However, the day after ”Goofy’s Summer Camp” closed another show returned to the Disneyland Park. (more…)
Goofy’s Summer Camp cutting costs? And more about the summer entertainment!
Monday, July 6th, 2009
The first weekend of the summer season has been managed at the Disneyland Resort Paris (or Disneyland Paris as it now states on the updated website) … and there have been at least two surprises already. The first one: “Good Morning Main Street, U.S.A.” – the happening to start the day has been revived and is now scheduled for daily performances at 10.15 am on Central Plaza!
This calvacade was part of the original entertainment in the opening year of 1992 but had been discontinued, even so it saw short lived revivals, such as earlier this year with the Disney Character Express received its make-over to become “Minnie’s Party Train”. In 1992 the calvacade consisted of the Main Street Vehicles, on board of which various Disney character drove along the Main Street, while even more characters and dancers in turn of the century costumes danced down the Main Street. In addition cast members of the shops came out on the side walk waving signs announcing “Good Morning” in various languages. For the 2009 version of “Good Morning Main Street, U.S.A.” the Disneyland Park reuses the original catchy soundtrack, also the Disney characters on the Main Street Vehicles and walking along are still there. However, the dancers in period costumes haven’t made it back and neither have the cast members waving their signs on the side walk. Still guests reacted very positively to the new addition, in particular since the calvacade stops on Central Plaza (where “Dancin’ A Catch Rhythm” is then played) to allow for a meet’n'greet with the characters before returning down Main Street.
The second surprise? (more…)
Summer Season – changes for the final week?
Monday, June 29th, 2009
Next Saturday will be the first day of the summer season 2009 at the Disneyland Resort Paris – in other words: extended operating hours in the Disneyland Park daily till 11.00 pm (the Walt Disney Studios Park continues to close daily at 7.00 pm) as well as extra-entertainment in the Disney Village and in both theme parks, in particular in the Disneyland Park with the all new daily show “Goofy’s Summer Camp” at the Chaparal Theater as well as the nightly streetacular “Fantillusion” followed by the “Enchanted Fireworks” high over the turrets of Sleeping Beauty Castle choreographed to a musical suite from Disney’s movie “Enchanted”.
Traditionally the summer season will last till the final weekend of August – according press releases of the resort have been released already at least in French, English and Italian advertising the extra entertainment and the daily Fanitullusion as well as fireworks display till August 30th (inclusive). Therefore, it has to be noted with surprise, that the resort updated the official calendar of opening hours on its website – now announcing that the last day with extended 11.00 pm operating hours at the Disneyland Park will be August 23rd! From August 24th on the Disneyland Park will close daily at 10.00 pm till August 30th (inclusive), before switching to closing at 7.00 pm on Monday August 31st (operating hours for September have not yet been released). So what about Fantillusion and fireworks? (more…)
A Battle of animated stars: Goofy vs. Tarzan
Saturday, May 23rd, 2009
Once the final performance of “Tarzan, the show” in Frontierland’s Chaparral Theater on the final day of the summer season 2008 had closed rumors sprang up that with that performance the show had actually been closed for good. The fact that the extra good-bye performance of the cast was way more elaborate than in the past – including even streamers being shot out – was one of the indicators cited by fans. With the spring season these rumors become more substantial but till today the resort has not officially stated that Tarzan will not return – even so all statements on the various fan boards online – including those by cast members – do indicate that Tarzan closed after 7 years. So the logic question was: (more…)
