Since the Walt Disney Studios celebrated their first Christmas Season in 2002 the park’s Christmas Tree found its place on Production Courtyard – where it at times felt either rather lonely on the wide open space or rather tugged away in a corner of the wide open space. This might have also had to do with the fact that compared to the size of the courtyard the tree wasn’t very high – by far not as high as its brother on Town Square in the Disneyland Park.
By the middle of this week the Christmas Tree of the Walt Disney Studios was erected once again – but to the very surprise of fans not on the Production Courtyard! Instead the Christmas Tree found a new home on the Frontlot. It has been placed right in front of the large gates leading into Studio 1.
Also a close look reveals that the tree has been re-decorated no longer featuring any film rolls as decoration (unless those would be added later on). Still, its decorations feel rather subdued compared to the warm red tones of the tree in the Disneyland Park. However, the new location of the tree is a huge improvement and further enhances the christmas atmosphere on the Frontlot. The decorations around the light posts here have been installed once again as well.
Interesting side note: by Thursday evening there was no sign of any decorations or the christmas market huts from the past years on the Production Courtyard…

Just two more nights before the Christmas season officially starts at Disneyland Paris. Following closely on the heels of the Halloween season that ended Monday evening the resort is racing at high speed to get the one set of decorations down while the others go up. In fact the resort actually took a head-start to redecorating and decided to go for the “when two holidays collide look” already to the extremly busy final week of the Halloween season.
Already by last weekend at least parts of the Christmas decorations had been installed at all Disney hotels but Disney’s Sequoia Lodge. In fact, Disney’s Hotel New York and the Disneyland Hotel had already their impressive christmas trees in the hotel lobbys set up – while still retaining Halloween decorations in other areas. Disney’s Sequoia Lodge for example features special Halloween decorations in black and orange complete with pumpkins jack-o-lanterns not only in its bar but also its two restaurants. (more…)

Only on the second to last weekend of June the front facade of Studio 1 facing the Front Lot was finally revealed from behind a giant scaffolding (see our news report). When the scaffolding came down the two giant displays (one on each side of the huge gates leading into the soundstage) became visible for the first time in years as well. While the ads on the two displays have not been replaced since the park opened in 2002 (and thus the parks latest highlights such as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Crush’s Coaster or now Toy Story Playland are ignored) at least the delicate, error-prone displays were working perfectly again, i.e. the various vertical elements turned regularly so that different attractions of the Walt Disney Studios Park are advertised. However, by mid August, so only 1 1/2 months later the display to the right of the gates already has been turned off again as several off its elements are stuck.
UPDATE: a check today revealed that the display has been repaired. Both displays are working once again advertising the main attractions as defined in 2002 – no word wether or when they might be updated

Yesterday we reported about the return of the (tweaked) Enchanted Fireworks and the (also tweaked) Disney’s Fantillusion parade for the summer season. However, not every entertainment offering from the past year has made its comeback. In particular smaller offerings such as “Good Morning Studios” and the “Toon Train” in the Studios are gone (as well as the “High School Musical” performance) – without replacement, even so “Stitch or friends” are supposed to pose for photos and sign autographs on the Place des Stars for 3 1/2 hours each afternoon adding to the lineup of characters usually found in Toon Plaza, on the Front Lot and at the Monsters. Inc. photo backdrop. Interestingly the visits of Jack Sparrow to the pirates’ section of the Disney Blockbuster Cafe have been stopped as well. Â The picture at the Disneyland Park is slightly different though… (more…)

Finally! It felt like ages – and in fact it took more than 4 years – but since the past weekend finally the front facade of Studio 1, the backdrop of the Frontlot and the park’s entrance visible to guests about to enter the park from far out ahead of the turnstiles, is finally visible in all its glory again. Starting late last week the scaffolding has come down from the facade and should be completely gone by now. (more…)

Yes – that will be the resounding answer of cast members at Star Traders in Discoveryland, Disneyland Park, as well as at the Walt Disney Studios Store on the Frontlot of the Walt Disney Studios Park.
While a couple of candy items had been added to the selection of the majority of shops and boutiques in both theme parks during the last years, this time we are talking about candy big time! (more…)

For more than 4 years (out of the soon 8 years the park exists) the front facade of Studio 1 in the Walt Disney Studios has been covered by huge scaffolding. As it faces toward the Frontlot it is thus visible already to guests when approaching the gates of the Walt Disney Studios Park. Originally the scaffolding was covered with a huge oversized billboard to advertise the movie premiere (and then the DVD release) of Disney’s Chicken Little, which was then released with a huge oversized billboard / painting advertising Disney Pixar’s Cars (again first for the movie premier than the DVD release). In the meantime the scaffolding is covered by a huge replica of the facade as it was originally looking. Supposedly a rehab, i.e. re-painting, was / is going on under the cover of the scaffolding – even so in the recent years no work was witnessed by regular guests to really go on there. However, in time for the New Year season there is some sort of progress to report. (more…)

Despite the busy summer season in full swing the Walt Disney Studios Park is seing several more or less obvious and more or less construction projects going on … time for a wrap up …
The facade of Studio 1 facing toward the Frontlot and seen already by guests approaching the park is still fully covered by scaffolding and a scrim with a printed on replica of the facade. However, geusts shouldn’t expect this to change since – as already reported – there is no actual work going on there right now, but the scaffolding has been retained to allow for easy installation of an oversized advertising poster should Walt Disney Pictures be willing to pay for such step once again. In the meantime the last work on the Walt Disney Studios Store has been finished and the stretch limousine that is used as backdrop for a Meet’n'Greet with various Disney characters has been moved back from in front of Studio 1 to its original place in front of the Studio Store in the past week. However, thereby access to one of the newly added doors have been partially been obstructed again. The real surprising construction work can be found further inside the park … and photos can be found right after this break (more…)
