If you want to take a chance to win a VIP trip for 4 to Disneyland Paris at the occassion of the New Generation Festival you should visit the website Vacature and answer two questions. One of the answers you can find on the side, the second one will be a guess on how many people enterred the competition. Just keep in mind: the website (and the competition) is in Dutch.
The lucky winners will get a room in Disney’s New York Hotel for 2 nights, tickets for both theme parks for 3 nights and VIP FastPass tickets so they will not have to queue on any of the attractions that offer FastPass service.
The competition ends on the 28th April at 1.00 pm local time. Good luck!

As reported in late 2009 the resort has outfitted the FastPass dispensing machines at the various attractions with an additional magnet-strip reader. Added to the front of the machines the reader allows guests to swipe their passports (whether Annual Passports or single / multi-day passports) through the reader to receive a FastPass ticket. The new method is less error prone as the original method as the passports are no longer mechanically pulled inside the machine to be pushed out again after reading the magnet stripe, which means passports can’t get stuck inside the machines anymore. Also the methods seems more intuitively for mosts guests based on observation during the busy around New Year period. Finally the new system speeds up compared to prior. (more…)

Disneyland Paris over the course of this year has continued its series of small rehabs and upgrades over the year as we were able to report frequently here in the news. However, the sheer number of smaller projects makes it easy to miss a small change going on here or there. One of those small changes executed in the recent months was the update of the FastPass “return time window” signs and the “standby waiting time” signage at the FastPass equipped attractions. (more…)

A new Fastpass has been tested at the Disneyland Paris. Guests who didn’t want to, or don’t like to queue had the possibility to obtain a Premium Fastpass for a “small” price of 80 Euro. In return the Premium Fastpass would offer an unlimited entrance to all attractions with Fastpass system. The Premium Fastpass was available at the Disneyland Hotel concierge and the New York Hotel concierge. The offer was in a test phase, one that was planned to end August 18th.
The offer has not been stopped yet as Premium Passes where still available after the initial end date. Both the Disneyland Hotel and the New York Hotel concierge had boards up, offering the Fastpasses to the guests during this extended test phase.
If successful, it is to be expected that Disney will keep the Premium Fastpass as an ongoing option.

Late last week we were informed about a change to the current test of the PREMIUM FastPass concept of the Disneyland Resort Paris - an additional sales location! BHaving limited the number of PREMIUM FastPasses to be sold per day to just 160 the resort management had limited itself to just one sales location: the guest service / concierge counter inside the Disneyland Hotel. The assumption was that first of all guests of the most luxurious (and most expensive) hotel of the Disneyland Paris would be interested in buying the add-on to skip lines at all FastPass equipped attractions as often as they want per day (at the price of EUR 80.00 per person). However, as of last week (for the last days of the original planned test period till August 4) the PREMIUM FastPass was also on sale at the guest service / concierge desk in Disney’s Newport Bay Club! This could be interpreted in a way that they may have been unable to sell enough PREMIUM FastPass in the Disneyland Hotel (where guests of the suites and the Castle Club already receive various types of extra FastPass privileges included in their package) and are now trying to see whether there is interested from guests staying in the other Disney Hotels. However, it could also have been planned to add additional sales locations later in the test…

One of the most congested areas in all of Disneyland Paris on most days is the walkway right in front of the entrance to Big Thunder Mountain in Frontierland. With the addition of the FastPass machines next to it this congestion in the past years became even worse, as guests debatting whether to enter the regular stand-by line for the attraction were joined by the crowds forming around the entrance to the FastPass machines to obtain their FastPass tickets to bypass the long lines for the ride on run-away-mine-train. But a small change realized at the beginning of this year’s summer season has allevated the situation considerably. With a rope the entrance to the FastPass distributing machines has been re-routed, resulting in the queue for the machines not to extent toward the attractions regular entrance but into the opposite direction. Since its inception the concept of FastPass has resulted in sometimes heated discussions among fans and regular guests whether it created a two class society among guests or was unfari to guests who were not aware of the FastPass system or did not know how to “trick” it to their advantage. Afterall the FastPass system allows guests to obtain one free FastPass at a time for one FastPass enabled attraction such as Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight etc. which then reserves their spot in the line for that attraction, so that they can return at the designated time and bypass the regular line to enter the attraction after a short, roughly 10 minute, wait in a designated FastPass line. With the time passing these discussion died down – but they are sure to be revived now that the Disneyland Resort Paris has started offering an upcharge Premium FastPass for a test phase. (more…)
