… at the office inside the park as it is completely covered for renovation. The whole area is blocked of and the building is no longer accessible. Even the path in front of the building is completely blocked, forcing guests to walk right next to the Castle stage, an area that has been refurbished not so long ago.
But what about the Annual passes you might ask. Well, it has brought back to the old location outside the park at the Donald’s Desk. When you need to exchange your ticket, get a new Annual Pass or need to extend your existing pass you will have to go to the “old” location at the side of the ticket booths.
When you arrive at the Disneyland park and you are in front of the beautiful Disneyland hotel walk to the right side towards the hotel’s entrance. Just across the entrance, on the side of the Disneyland Park ticket booths, you will see a small office named Donald’s Desk. Until further notice, or until the refurbishment is finish, this will be the location to get your Annual Passes.

Disneyland Resort Paris and the Belgian town Blankenberge are working together to bring the Disneyland Paris theme park to the seaside. How? By building a replica of the park and both the Disney and Pixar characters on the beach by using sand during the “sand sculpture festival”.
For more information on the event, the theme and what to expect, follow our sister blog Mousekingdom. We will be there to see the result and will bring full coverage of the festival on the mousekingdom blog too.

It’s Monday morning … and to start off the week we got an update of various refurbishment projects inside Disneyland Park courtesy of InsideDLParis for you. Let’s start off deep in Fantasyland … where the scaffolding around the Old Mill has gone up another few meters and is now hjiding the full height of the building – only the weather vane is still peaking over it.
Just a few steps further along the pathway leading away from it’s a small world (where the former post-show pavilion is still closed for it’s transformation into a Princess Meet’n'Greet / photo location) another rehab has come to a fast end and the Unbirthday tea party table has returned to the photo location in front of Alice’s Curious Labyrinth. The table and the decorations, cups and more all look shiny and new again. A closer Look will reveal one important change, though: the cups, in which rain water collected when the table was installed in April are now featuring little holes for the water to drain.
The refurbishment of the castle continues, with the front of the main strucutre now free off all scaffolding, but the scaffolding still reaching into the sky on it’s back.
On to the final stop of today’s rehab update program: Orbitron in Discoveryland. As reported the various decorational elements turning when the ride is in motion as well as the arms with all rockets have been dismantled, leaving only the bare center element standing with it’s mechanical interior revealed to see (over the green cosntruction fence) – as can be seen in the photo above taken from the entrance into Discoveryland.

Time for a look at the other big rehab going on in Fantasyland besides the one of the exterior of the Old Mill. This time InsideDLParis provides us with a look over the green construction fence that blocks of the wide area in front of the Toad Hall Restaurant (still open, accessible via a small walkway leading up onto its terrace next to Peter Pan’s Flight) and the Fantasy Festival Stage / Fantasyland Station (also still open). As can be seen the original floor has been taken out and new stones will be laid down very soon. To the right of the photo the new pavement stones have already been laid.
Unfortunately a third, unplanned refurbishment has sprung up in Fantasyland as well: today the Unbirthday Party tee table decoration that had been set up at the photo location in front of Alice’s Curious Labyrinth was gone. While the throne (here since 1992) and Mad Hatter’s seat (complete with the hat, both installed only this year for Disney’s Magical Moments Festival) remained, the table with its crazy decorations for the Unbirthday Tea Party is gone. If past experience with Aladdin’s Magical Lamp at another new photo location created for the festival is any indicator most probably the table respectively the decorations on it did not withstand the wear and tear imposed by some guests…

… to check the progress of another rehab project. As reported right after the Easter weekend the Old Mill building (housing a snack sales location and the long closed ferries wheel on its back) has gone into rehab as well. The vanes has already been taken down by then – and are still gone as can be seen in the latest photo by InsideDLParis. But there is some other progress visible across the green standard construction fences that blocks off not only the Old Mill itself but also the former queue area for the ferries wheel (now used as outdoor seating for the snack point and as smoking area for Fantasyland) and the walkway right in front of the structure plus surrounding planters:
Scaffolding has started to go up to allow painters to tackle the wooden facade of the mill’s main structure (any work on the lower buildings adjacent to the main part is hidden behind the construction walls). One can exepect the scaffolding to go even higher as it does not yet reach all the way up to the mill’s roof.

Rapunzel (from “Tangled”) is the latest Disney Princess that has arrived at Disneyland Paris. Not only is she – together with Flynn Ryder - one of the stars in the new show on Central Plaza, but she is also awaiting guests for Meet’n'Greets, autographs and photos regularly at her very own photo location in Fantasyland as part of the Disney Magical Moments Festival!
It’s located in Fantasyland, opposite of the restaurant Au Chalet de la Marionnette right on the small waterway, next to the bridge that leads to Peter Pan’s Flight.
The multilayered photo location scenery includes Rapunzel’s tower and is even illuminated at night by two lights for especially romantic photos.
It’s worth taking a close look at the location even when Rapunzel and Flynn are not around – notice the wanted poster for Flynn? And then take a close look at the rock at the right of the photo location, next to the bright yellow flower. See something – or to be more correct: someone? Yes, that’s Pascal, the chameleon who is Rapunzel’s sidekick in Disney’s animated feature … and he sits there all day just waiting for tourists who want to pose for photos!

To end the weekend another quick CRPR – Castle Rehab Progress Report. In our last CRPR courtesy of InsideDLParis we talked about the front facade and how the tarps have come down there. Now, let’s just walk around the castle for a change to it’s backside!

The scaffolding continues to grow further upwards here. And there are still only white tarps here – no printed on replica’s of the facade. But then most guests photograph the front facade from Central Plaza and not the – equally beautiful – back facade, so the use of white tarps might impect most guests less.
In addition to the further upward extension of the scaffolding there are some more details visible here. Firstly the fact that the elements of  two turrets have been taken off for the rehab – as mentioned in our last CRPR – is easily visible here. The first “beheaded” turret sits between the two turrets with the already dark blue roofs, to the right of the highest turret. The second “beheaded” turret is on the left side of the castle, peeking just above the highest part of the scaffolding at its far left end.
Also the turrets’ roofs primed to receive their new paint job can be identified very easily in this photo. Note that the roof of the highest turret – while it already got painted on the front side – is still sporting the white primer on the backside.

The castle rehab project is gathering up speed … faster and faster. Take a look at the photos accompanying this report. They were taken last weekend and still show all of the tarps up on the front facade of the castle. As of yesterday, Thursday April 28, 2011, these tarps have started coming down on the front facade of the main part of the castle.
Already gone by yesterday evening was the tarp surrounding the facade around the actual gate into the castle. I.e. we are talking about the printed on tarps as seen in the photo on the right, not the white tarps covering the arcade leading from the main body of the castle to the right (behind the Castle Stage). Also visible again was the waterfall to the left of the castle, which received a rehab as well (but certainly was still turned off as the scaffolding was still in place.
While the scaffolding was still up after the tarps came down, expect the scaffolding to follow soon. Also the entrance walkway from Central Plaza to the Dragon’s cave under the castle has been blocked with a green construction wall to park a large crane behind that is used in the current phase of the construction.
However, the tarps on the front facade weren’t the only things that came down. Also down is the golden / blue color on selected roofs of the castle’s turrets. As of Wednesday the complete roof of the highest turret was all white as it was prepped to receive its new paint job.
To see photos of the latest progress, including the revealed, rehabed waterfalls, the tarps taken down and the turret’s white roof check out the tweets by InsideDLParis (Matthew Burggraeve) or head straight to his twitpic account!

It’s a non stop work in progress. When one area is done, the next one is prepared. Fantasyland (and in particular its walkways) is seeing a lot of work done in 2011 to prepare for next year’s 20th anniversary. As the repaving of the parade route in Fantasyland has been finished and work in front of the Castle stage is underway now new construction fences have gone up in front of the Fantasy Festival Stage. (more…)

The ground that guest stand on during their Disneyland visit is mostly forgotten or overlooked by many but it is a solid part of the story and important to make sure that the magic keeps alive, even under your feet.

It’s nice to look up and see a wonderful and colorful castle, but if the path that you walk on doesn’t look good or isn’t maintained it would take away from the full picture, breaking the illusion of the magic. To make sure guest get nothing but the best, even for their feet that are feeling the pressure of strolling hours in the park, Disney is making sure the paths and the grounds around it are in perfect condition. At this time one of these projects is taking place in Fantasyland.

Leave the castle on your rights going to the left side walking into Fantasyland guests pass the beautiful, but unfortunately underused, Castle Stage. Right in front of the Castle Stage guest could brows around it or sit on one of the many benches that used to be full with guests visiting the great shows on the castle. At this time the whole area has been blocked of with the standard green fences including with the regular “for your future enjoyment” signs. The whole are is being repaved to make the area look new and freshed up again. This is a second phase in refurbishing this area as work in and around the Castle Stage area already took place a while ago.

During the refurbishment guest will also be unable to go to the wishing well that can be found just behind the castle stage area and that connects the side of the of the castle with the left hand path way to Fantasyland. A gray fence is looking the entrance from the castle onto the wishing well area. No chance to go and make a wish at this time, however who would need to make any wish when they are in Disneyland Paris.
UPDATE:
As a look behind the fence provided by InsideDLParis via twitpic reveals the repaving is making fast progress. Already the area between the actual stage and the Central Plaza seems to be finished. However, the bricks seem to be used not only to replace the concrete on this part of the parade route but also the floor of the former auditorium (from which the benches were removed several weeks ago).
