Sand Everywhere

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

We talked about it on the DLP news blog (Sand Sculptures Festival opens), showed it on the Mousekingdom Blog (opening Night, More Sand) and even gave away some prizes for it; the Sand Sculpture festival from Blankenberge in Belgium themed after Disneyland Paris. The Belgium edition is coming to a close this month but it has been a success story for the artists as well as for Disney. Disney is so impressed that they are thinking about bringing it to Disneyland Paris next year during the 20th celebration of the park, a perfect time to add this special event. The success in Belgium was gigantic with well over 200.000 visitors breaking every record from previous years. Taking this event to Paris would be an instant success for the park and Disney. The team of the Belgium event, Francis Vandendorpe and Alexander Deman, have been talking to Angela Bliss and Yves Boulanger from Disneyland Paris. The Talks are going very well and it looks like a green light for the project isn’t far away.

But that’s not all they have been talking about. Belgium had another Disney visitor, Craig Dezern, from the Florida parks, Walt Disney World. They are also interested in the event. More about this event on Mousekingdom Blog.

Star Wars Pin Event

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

Last week Disney released the dates to their next pin event. This time it will take place on Saturday 16 July from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Disney’s Hotel New York. Special pins will be on offer for those guests that are visiting the event. Those will be, as usual, very limited. The last pin event took place on Friday 29 April. This was one of the Pin Trading Night events. During this event the theme for the next Pin Trading day was revealed to the guest: Star Wars.

Collectors will have the opportunity to get some special Disney Star Wars pins during this event. Not only will they be very limited, but with a big Star Wars fan base world wide might become one of the most looked for pins coming from Paris.

This event will be a hard ticket event and the price will be around 40 Euro. Advance registration will be needed to be able to get a ticket and to make sure you will get your limited pin(s) on the day.

Handling Disney’s Halloween Party crowds

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

As the crowds descend with the sunny weather on the Disneyland Park for the Halloween day and the sold out Disney’s Halloween Party the resort is doing it’s best to keep lines short. Ad usual on busy days there are lines at the security checks in front of Fantasia Gardens as well as the the ticket counters ad the turnstiles. But once inside guests with a ticket for tonight’s party will find a pleasant surprise: starting right now the party tickets can e exchanged for a bracelet that allows the guests to stay in the park when it closes before the party and thus avoid long lines at the turnstiles tonight.

Till 5 pm the bracelets are handed out below the Main Street Station (at the former locker location). While there is a line right now it can be expected to disappear later in the day. As of 5.30 pm the bracelets will be available in front of Gibson’s Girls at the top of the Main Street.

Disney’s Halloween Party SOLD OUT

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

After the sold out TERRORIFIC NIGHT 2 in the Walt Disney Studios with scary overlays / changes to the Tram Tour, Armageddon, Tower of Terror, Crush’s Coaster and Rock’n'Roller Coaster tonight the family friendly Disney’s Halloween Party in the Disneyland Park is coming up. However, if you plan to come by on short notice and have not yet secured a party ticket the ghosts have turned against you – large signs at the entrance to the park announce that the event is completely sold out.

Those already on-site and without a ticket (and desperate) may want to try their luck with the concierge of one of the Disney Hotels. As of yesterday the Disney Hotels still had a very limited amount of tickets available in case one of their hotel guests needs one… but no word so far whether this contingent is sold out in the meantime as well or how strict they are with checking for a hotel ID…

Entertainment Rumors Summed Up (updated)

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Over the years the various entertainment offerings in both theme parks at Disneyland Paris have been closely scrutinized by fans, a considerable group of whom in the recent years became more and more vocal. Subject of the criticism were in particular the limited amount of entertainment offered outside high season, the sometime as stale or not popular enough perceived offerings and what can only be seen as waste of money by the entertainment team in the form of ordering the construction of a major stage on Central Plaza, when other stages sit mostly unused.

With the “New Generation Festival” starting in April 2010 for both theme parks and the heavy emphasize that the resort itself put on the entertainment offerings the rumor mills started turning fast again and then jumping into overdrive when suddenly reports about the pre-opening cancellation of a small happening planned for the Walt Disney Studios Park surfaced during the past weekend. Unfortunately that is not the only bad report / rumor coming out of the resort for the entertainment offerings … time for a “rumor sum up”! (more…)

Little changes …

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Even with the  Christmas season already in full swing the resort seems to continue its policy of enacting small changes throughout. The latest changes? According to a report of Andrea, who visited the resort earlier this week, the small “Snow White” happening (along the lines of the Mary Poppins event on Twon Square or the Sleeping Beauty event in the Castle Courtyard) that premiered only at the beginning of the Christmas Season received a first small addition.
