Ready to celebrate the arrival at 2012? Anywhere close to Disneyland Paris? Then … why not drop by? Both parks feature extended entertainment programs included with admission (even the popular Lucky Dance Party will be back at the Walt Disney Studios) capped by midnight fireworks!
Don’t want to go the parks? There is an alternative as well: the Disney Hotels (in addition to the New Year’s Eve dining options) have scheduled live entertainment in their bars, the Disney Village has entertainment as well … and then there is even a full scale fireworks extravaganza (without need for any ticket!) on Lake Disney complete with light show and projections on the Panoramagique balloon – Disney’s New Year choreographed to pop hits transforming the area around the lake into a giant open air disco. There have even been bars set up in front of each hotel. Just note that the event the lake is scheduled to start at 11:30 pm according to the official flyers.

As InsideDLParis lets us know the new “musical character experience” titled “Meet the Disney Stars” premiered today in the Backlot area of the Walt Disney Studios. While not formally announced as part of the Disney Magical Moments Festival it does fit into this year’s theme and helps bolster the entertainment offerings in the Studios which did not receive any other new show for the festival (different from the Disneyland Park next door). In fact the studios are even to loose a show as according to current reports the Stars’n'Cars is to be transformed into a “regular” Disney parade experience while the show on the Production Courtyard Stage (which was part of the streetacular so far) will be cut as the area could not provide enough good viewing spots for the ever growing number of guests that have arrived with the expansion of the park in the past years.
But back to the new addition on Backlot – “Meet the Disney Stars”. This interactive musical character experience features a number of selected characters, including Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy, Stitch, as well as the stars of Toy Story, Ratatouille and The Incredibles according to a first report from the premiere by Characters Photos Blog on facebook. They are driven out onto the backlot by car several times daily to meet with guests, sign autographs and pose for photos. As InsideDLParis reports currently the experience is scheduled for 10.45, 12.15, 13.15, 15.30, and 16.45.
As can be seen in the photos posted by Characters Photos Blog on facebook the car used to bring the characters in is the same one that has been used in the past as pre-parade car for Donald during the original Wonderful World of Disney Parade in the Disneyland Park as well as as the first float of the Cinema Parade in the Studios holding the most recent characters featured in the park. For its new use the car got once again redecorated complete with a new logo for the experience – but fans will recognize it for sure…

After a two year hiatus the popular show “Tarzan – The Encounter” will return to the Chaparral Theater in Frontierland for the summer months of 2011. The show retells the story of the animated Disney classic with an acrobatic performance and a large cast underscored by the popular music of Phil Collins from the movie. Preparations are already under way in the theater. (more…)

As the upcoming Disney Magical Moments Festival is prepared the popular Disney Character Express has been retired already as it will be transformed into the new experience of the ”Disney Dance Express” (click here for a video of a complete preview performance). However, as the meet’n'greets with the Disney Characters on Central Plaza are always very popular a temporary replacement is now filling the gap between the Disney Character Express and the Disney Dance Express: the Disney Character Calvacade! April 126 will see the official start of the Disney Magical Moments festival at Disneyland Paris to last till early 2012. The festival includes two new entertainment offerings: the Disney Dance Express and Mickey’s Magical Celebration.
The Disney Dance Express replaces the Disney Character Express and is scheduled to be presented about 3 times daily during the morning hours. It will feature Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, Pluto, Chip and Dale together with a dance crew. The train of the former Disney Character Express will transport the whole group to Central Plaza where they will stop for a high energy dance performance inviting especially younger guests to join in.
Mickey’s Magical Celebration is the new stage show presented on the Central Plaza stage. However, different from the Disney Showtime Spectacular (presented on the same stage during 2010) it is currently planed to present the new show only once per day to close of the day. The show features Mickey (for the second half of the show wearing his sorcerer’s apprentice costume), the Fairy Godmother, the Genie (for the first time ever at Disneyland Paris as a face character), Merlin and the Disney Princesses with their Princes: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Tiana and – for the first time at Disneyland Paris with her fellow Disney Princesses – Rapuncel with Flinn.
Past Thursday, March 25th, the Disneyland Park hosted a preview of both the Disney Dance Express and Mickey’s Magical Celebration for guests of an (upcharge) after-hour event in the park. YouTube user stitch59000Â was on hand for both performances and uploaded complete videos of both performances to YouTube … if you are interested both have been embedded below the jump – however, if you don’t want to see the performance before your visit to the park … just don’t click! As reported earlier the ongoing re-paving of the parade route in Fantasyland still forces the parade to operate in a unique, limited mode as introduced earlier this year in January when the re-paving project started next to Central Plaza. The parade enters the park on Town Square, moves up the Main Street, circles around Central Plaza and then heads back the Main Street to exit once again on Town Square.
This requires the Once Upon a Dream parade to be short enough to allow the final parade float and dancers to enter Central Plaza before the first float / dancer has circled Central Plaza and heads back onto the Main Street. This required some shortening – in particular the massive float of the Princesses for the final “Dream of Romance” act of the parade had to be cut. Only the smaller princess float of Jasmine and Aladdin remained in the parade, while the other princesses and their princes have to walk along. (more…)

If you are lucky and will be at Disneyland Paris for tonight you basically got three main Options how to celebrate: each of the two theme parks (option a & b) or in the Disney Hotels respective the Disney Village combined with fireworks over Lake Disney. We already told you about the latter option c yesterday, so on to a) and b)!
The Disneyland Park traditionally is the most busy option of the three as fans & first time guests alike love to ring in the New Year with fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle. As in the past years the soundtrack will be a slightly adjusted (ie shortened) version of the popular (more…)

Want to ring in 2011 with a Disney fireworks display – but without braving the crowds at Disneyland Park or the Walt Disney Studios?
A new option has just been added for you at Disneyland Paris! And it is even free of charge!! After the huge success of the Guy Fawkes fireworks display on Lake Disney this fall the resort has added a New Year’s Fireworks display at Lake Disney.
As we are typing this (noon, December 30) banners advertising the display are added to the lampposts around the lake. In addition flyers also indicating the best viewing areas (in front of Disney’s Hotel New York, Sequoia Losge and Newport Bay Club) are advertising it. Amongst others one flyer has been placed in each hotel room. (more…)

One week ago today Disney’s Halloween Party took over the Disneyland Parc for a night of ghostly but still family friendly fun. During the sold out party guests could not only enjoy the regular attractions of Disneyland but also a unique atmosphere and special entertainment. In additon to street entertainment throughout the park ”The Disney Villains’ Halloween Showtime”
(as performed up to three times daily during the Halloween season) received two special night time showings on Central Plaza and Disney’s Fantillusion did roll down the Main Street, U.S.A. starring Jack & Sally from Disney’s Nightmare Before Christmas in the rarely seen “Bat Forrest” float.
However, the real highlight of the night came at midnight: the sound & light show “Mickey and his Magic Halloween Night” on Central Plaza. This show combined a) a stage show with a large cast of dancers and numerous Disney characters (including Mickey, the Disney Villains, Merlin and many more) with b) low level fireworks on both sides of the castle as well as in front of it and c) still pictures as well as video projections on the castle.
The video projections of various Disney Villains talking (in English) reached a new quality (and clarity) unseen so far at DLP… But why let us tell you about it – just take a look yourself and relieve the ghostly fun with our unique photo show featuring 68 unique impressions (certainly avertising free)!
P.S.: for high resolution versions of the photos just click on the photo in the show – additonal controls will show up when you move your mouse over the photos.
