It’s probably not the best idea to go swimming at Lake Disney. First of all it wouldn’t be that save and it “might be” frowned upon if you would decide to take a plunge. However, in case somebody would fall into the water, by accident or not, it’s a good idea to have some safety equipment in place.
Disney has added new Life belts all around the lake. The belts are added in easy to access spaces with an approximately 50 meters of distance between each other. When somebody would fall into the water and help is needed bystanders will be able to quickly get one of the belts and trow them towards the person in need until they either make it out of the water themselves or until help arrives.
One must admit that they are no eye candy. The bright colors are a little of an eyesore and don’t fit the theme of the Lake Disney area, but safety comes first. Let’s hope they’ll never have to be used and nobody falls into the cold water, but it’s still good to know that safety measures are in places in case of a mishap.

In the wake of the interior rehabs at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge (so far mostly in the lodges out in the wide gardens behind the main building) a rehab of the main building’s facade facing toward Lake Disney started in late April (as reported). Work is progressing now as can be seen in this photo taken on May 8, 2011, by InsideDLParis.
Interestingly so far the pain crews seem to use two different colors, a darker one closer to the ground a lighter one further up (the very light third “color” seen in some parts of the facade on this photo should not be any chosen color but just the look of the wooden facade after preparation and prior to applying the new paints.

Need to recharge during the first half of the day when the bar at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge is still closed? No problem – for a while already a coffee vending machine is helping with that (for EUR 2 per hot drink). However, if it’s not you but your mobile phone or iPod that needs recharging … well a coffee machine is not going to be much help. Things get even worse if the charger / power adapter has gone missing or has been forgotten at home.
A couple of years ago a re-charging station for selected mobile phone brands had been set up at one of the counters in the Disneyland Hotel. But as DLRPStuff reported on twitter an all new charging system has been set-up in the lobby of Disney’s Sequoia Lodge most recently. (more…)

We have to admit: considering that SQL is the official IATA airport code for the San Carlos Airport in San Mateo County, California, USA the headline could be a bit misleading – afterall we are not talking about security measures at said airport but at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge, the Disney Hotel at Disneyland Paris which is abbreviated to SQL. As has been widely reported online Disney’s Sequoia Lodge has started a major rehab of it’s rooms. After upgrading the TV-sets already last year, now the rooms in the hotel’s lodges are being upgraded to a new design with new wallpapers, furniture and more.
The new look for the rooms and public areas in the lodges retains the original feel and concept, in particular the warmth of a national park lodge. At the same time it adds subtle Disney touches by introducing artwork from the Disney classic Bambi respectively based on the Disney classic to the designs. Considering the upgrade that goes with this the resort has decided to swap the names “standard room” and “Montana room”. In the past the standard rooms where located in the lodges, the “Montana rooms” (which require a surcharge) in the main building. Now the “Montana rooms” are referring to the upgraded rooms in the lodges, while the – so far not yet upgraded – rooms in the main building are referred to as “standard rooms”. Guests staying here may have to wait a bit longer till the rooms are upgraded.
However, first upgrades of public areas in the main building were already in place at the end of 2010… (more…)

Just two more nights before the Christmas season officially starts at Disneyland Paris. Following closely on the heels of the Halloween season that ended Monday evening the resort is racing at high speed to get the one set of decorations down while the others go up. In fact the resort actually took a head-start to redecorating and decided to go for the “when two holidays collide look” already to the extremly busy final week of the Halloween season.
Already by last weekend at least parts of the Christmas decorations had been installed at all Disney hotels but Disney’s Sequoia Lodge. In fact, Disney’s Hotel New York and the Disneyland Hotel had already their impressive christmas trees in the hotel lobbys set up – while still retaining Halloween decorations in other areas. Disney’s Sequoia Lodge for example features special Halloween decorations in black and orange complete with pumpkins jack-o-lanterns not only in its bar but also its two restaurants. (more…)

Sure there will be another year-round festival kicked-off in April. There will be some minor tweaks in the Disneyland Park (which for young girls will be really big in case of the Princess meet’n'greet in the former it’s a small world post show pavillion), the Earl of Sandwich restaurant will add another dining option to the offerings at the Disney Village (rounding out the offerings in the budget range in particular). Then there is still the question what will move into the large upper-level space originally occupied by the now closed Hurricane’s night club. Also, hopes are still up among fans that with a bit of luck the long awaited “World of Disney” (mega-)store will open in front of the Gaumont cinemas sometime in 2011 (which would bring up the question what to do with the large space currently occupied by the “Disney Store” in the Disney Village). Based on this one could assume the further development of the Disney Village could be the big theme for 2011.
To some degree this is true as the changes to 2011 might be the most obvious “news” for many guests in the resort coming 2011. However, there is some other more exciting “theme” that is under preparation … apparently management has decided to finally tackle the Disney hotel issue and roll out a major refurbishment program for the seven Disney lodgings… (more…)

Disney’s Sequoia Lodge is catching up with non-Disney Hotels in so far as the in-room TV system is concerned. Gone are the old “tube” TVs. Their place has been taken by sleek new flat screens.
In addition the new TV sets have been connected to a LAN network box also placed inside the TV cupboard. It needs to be awaited which interactive services might be implemented via this system in the future (options could be e.g. internet on the TV, restaurant reservation systems etc.). (more…)

The bare facade of the Gaumont multiplex cinema to the right of the main entrance as seen from the entrance to Fantasia Gardens used to be hidden by several large trees that were planted in the separation area between the Disney Village grounds and the walkway leading to the entrance of the studios and the future second street of the village once the next expansion place is realized. However, in early May the trees disappeared one by one. Current (unconfirmed) reports indicate that this may be the first step to prepare the area for the construction of the new World of Disney store.
But what happened to the the trees? After all they had been growing to a respectable size over years and actually (if bought in such size) would come with an impressive price tag… (more…)
