Shopping at Disneyland Paris is fun. All the nice cuddly toys, Disney clothing, fun park collectibles, character figures, bags, mugs, pens… and the list goes on. Before you know it you walk out of the shop with one of these big Disney bags filled with magical goodies for your children, yourself or for those that stayed at home. But you will be rewarded for your visit at one of the shops.
Once you paid for your item you will get a receipt for your purchases. Together with the receipt you’ll get a print out voucher that can be exchanged in a Disney store for a 15% discount on your second purchase of that day. The rules are simple. Visit one of the shops located in Main Street U.S.A., Thunder Mesa in Frontierland or Constellations in Discoveryland, visit one of the shops listed after 9:30pm and spend over 30 Euro. If you can tick all of the above you will be granted a 15% discount.

With the summer season finished for more than a week the next big “thing” for the resort is the upcoming Halloween season for which soon enough the first decorations should pop up on Main Street, U.S.A., as well as in Frontierland, Fantasyland and maybe even Adventureland (which would be a first for Disneyland Paris).
Already traditionally the small duck pond on the Cottonwood Creek Ranch is where the magical pumpkin tree grows for the season on which the Pumpkin Men are rippening. So when the not so small wholes in the ground next to the pond were spotted early last week, covered just temporarily naturally the first assumption was: maybe this is the first visible preparation for the upcoming Halloween season in the Disneyland Park!

Continuing our look at recent developments on and around Adventure Isle from earlier today there is one more sight to mention: Le Rocher Qui Basaile - the famous “tilting” rock on Adventureland. Located on the shores of Adventure Isle close to the barrel bridge this large rock used to tilt up and down similar to a seesaw when guests sat down on it. Even the Family Swiss Robinson indicated this natural wonder on their detail rich map of the island on display abit further up on the walkways.
Well, the rock is still there but underwent a small rehab this summer - as a result of this the tilting / seesaw effect has been blocked. All that remains now is a large, stable rock. Certainly the map wasn’t updated … All that can be said is that it is always regrettable if a great little detail from the early years of the park is destroyed by the current team and local Imagineering fails to move in and stop them.

Goofy’s Summer Camp closed its doors with a final performance at 5:15 pm one week ago today – one more time the dedicated cast danced like a whirlewind across the wide stage of the Chaparral Theater, certainly adding some small extra comedy moments for the final performance (at one point even distracting the driver of the small golf cart bringing Goofy onstage enough, so that he drove into the rockwork of the set – without any real damage). Just one day later the construction crews moved into the theater and started moving the sand off the stage to prepare it for “Mickey’s Winter Wonderland” show, which will transport guests into a snow covered mountain setting as of November. However, the day after ”Goofy’s Summer Camp” closed another show returned to the Disneyland Park. (more…)

With the official end of the summer season past Sunday the work crews have returned to the Disneyland Park in full force – after a 1 1/2 month break, considering that some projects started in late spring actually finished only during high season. So which projects are currently in progress?
On Main Street, U.S.A., not a single major project is underway – but painters are busy touching up the facades in various changing locations every day.
However, once guests turn into Frontierland they will encounter the first major project: The Last Chance Cafe – the only project that is already underway since early August. In the meantime the construction walls not only block access to the counter service restaurant and its terrace but have extended to also block of the planters that separate that terrace from the patio of the Lucky Nugget Saloon next doors. So far the signage of The Last Chance Cafe seems to have been taken off the building’s facade – but the real news are the wooden structures on the former terrace! (more…)

That’s the question some guests may have asked themselves when getting a closer look at the small island located right in front of Big Thunder Mountain seen from Riverboat Landing as they could clearly spot an egret during the past days eyeing the waters of the Rivers of the Far West and the fish in it.
However, the answer to that question is: no. This is a real live egret! Over the years the lush, natural landscaping and the various wide open water ways in the Disneyland Park have become a beautiful habitat for a diverse wildlife. After the resort stopped dyeing the waterways artifically blue early on the waterways soon were discovered by local wildlife as well as wildlife traveling longer distances and stopping by the resort only for a short break – not much different from guests.

As reported August 19 Disneyland Paris had installed a “public” defibrillator (meaning a defibrillator placed in areas accessible to guests which can be used by guests or cast members in case of an cardic arrest without any formal training) next to the restrooms in the Adventureland Bazaars. As reader comments let us knew, one more defibrillator had been placed “next to the telephones near the big backstage door between the Adventureland Bazaar and the Adventureland entrance of Chalet de la Marionette” (thanks Brandis for this info), while another was spotted by Christian in the Main Street Arcades. Two additional devices were already spotted last weekend: the first one was found next to the toilettes in the Videopolis (in Discoveryland), the second one next to the toilettes at the Tower of Terror. The latter one is also seen in our photo and is the first one found in the Walt Disney Studios Park. (more…)

… sings the old beggars woman on the steps of St. Paul in the Disney classic “Mary Poppins”. The classic song by the Sherman Brothers is often said to have been one of Walt Disney’s personal favorites. The story often told by the two brothers is that Walt used to call them up to his office on many Friday afternoons so that they would play the song for him. However, that is a different story – and a different time.
Nowadays it is prohibited in many places to feed the birds – feeding birds attracts more and more birds to areas where they are regularly fed, introduces the danger of the birds loosing their natural habits and also brings along the risk of new diseases to be transmitted from the birds to humans, not to mention the problems that the feces of the birds pose. In light of this Disneyland Paris is also trying to discourage its guests from feeding birds on property and has lately added new signs asking guests to stop feeding birds – such as the sign seen depicted here which was photographed in Discoveryland.
