Are you looking for that very special christmas gift for a true Mickey Mouse fan? Or do you need something to adorne the entrance hall of your villa? No need to think about the price of the item? Than you should drop by the Gallery Mickey shop located on the first floor of the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris!
A huge Mickey Mouse figurine limited to just 250 copies has been put on sale here at the price of EUR 3,500. However, the limited figurine is really a giant one. The photo on the left shows the shop window that reaches from the floor all the way to the top of the doors – just to give you a reference for the figurines height.
As the size would make it rather difficult to transport the figurine back home for guests shipping is available depending on the destination at EUR 149.50 in France, EUR 299.00 in Europe respectively starting at EUR 1,200.00 by airfreight to other international destinations.

Every christmas season a giant gingerbread house adornes the lobby of the Grand Floridian at Walt Disney World. For the Christmas Season 2011 this holiday tradition of WDW for the first time ever comes to the flagship hotel of Disneyland Paris as well.
Today at 4 pm the resort’s first giant holiday gingerbread house will be presented to the public in the lobby of the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris where it will remain as a photo opportunity throughout the season.

Differing from the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian the structure at the Disneyland Hotel seems a bit smaller (the one at WDW is actually life-sized and it’s inside can be visited by guests). Also construction in Paris occured behind a “construction fence” while in Grand Floridian guests are invited to watch the artists creating the seasonal highlight.
In Paris “Construction” started early this week and progressed at a fast pace as can be seen in our “in-progress” shot taken on Thursday afternoon.
However, those interested in the details of the creation of the gingerbread house should be able to find a more detailed and complete “making of”-photo-series / video soon as well from the official sources of the resort. At least, this seems safe to assume since three cameras were plac
ed overhead of the area in the lobby and documented its creation constantly.
The photos also show that in the night from Wednesday to Thursday the traditional christmas tree of the Disneyland Hotel was installed as well – right next to the gingerbread house. In line with the introduction of Duffy, the Disney Bear to guests of the resort this holiday season the tree received a new decoration – incorporating countless Duffy bears.

Today the Christmas season offically started at Disneyland Paris – however, as already reported the decoration started going up already more than a week ago. This certainly was true for both parks, the Disney Village and the Disney hotels.
The first among the hotels to finish the decoration in its lobby for the new season this year was the Disneyland Hotel. Already on the past Monday the Christmas Tree was up and families snapped their photos seated on the large presents in front of it. (more…)

Just two more nights before the Christmas season officially starts at Disneyland Paris. Following closely on the heels of the Halloween season that ended Monday evening the resort is racing at high speed to get the one set of decorations down while the others go up. In fact the resort actually took a head-start to redecorating and decided to go for the “when two holidays collide look” already to the extremly busy final week of the Halloween season.
Already by last weekend at least parts of the Christmas decorations had been installed at all Disney hotels but Disney’s Sequoia Lodge. In fact, Disney’s Hotel New York and the Disneyland Hotel had already their impressive christmas trees in the hotel lobbys set up – while still retaining Halloween decorations in other areas. Disney’s Sequoia Lodge for example features special Halloween decorations in black and orange complete with pumpkins jack-o-lanterns not only in its bar but also its two restaurants. (more…)

The British newspaper “The Sun” yesterday, Wednesday October 13, 2010, reported that according to a confidential memo sent by the resort’s management to French tour operators the resort has become aware (due to information by the health authorities) that potentially with listeria bacteria contaminated salmon may have been served at Cafe Mickey in the Disney Village, The Steakhouse in the Disney Village as well as at Inventions at the Disneyland Hotel. With the longer days and the warmer temperatures a new generation of menus has arrived in the upscale table service restaurants in Disneyland Paris, as they have rolled out their updated summer menus over the recent weeks.
For example the California Grill at the Disneyland Hotel (the resort’s premier table service location) has carefully mixed some of its most beloved offers with a selection of new, light summer fare including e.g. the cool ”lemon grass sorbet” in one starter. At the same time the restaurant successfully continues its recent drive to improve quality and selection once again after letting it slip in late 2009. (more…)

As reported in late 2009 the resort has outfitted the FastPass dispensing machines at the various attractions with an additional magnet-strip reader. Added to the front of the machines the reader allows guests to swipe their passports (whether Annual Passports or single / multi-day passports) through the reader to receive a FastPass ticket. The new method is less error prone as the original method as the passports are no longer mechanically pulled inside the machine to be pushed out again after reading the magnet stripe, which means passports can’t get stuck inside the machines anymore. Also the methods seems more intuitively for mosts guests based on observation during the busy around New Year period. Finally the new system speeds up compared to prior. (more…)

As of January 10, 2010 the a-la-carte restaurant “California Grill” in the Disneyland Hotel will be offering buffet dining only … however, luckily, only temporary till February 4th, 2010. So what is going on at the flagship restaurant of the resort, that after battleing a drop in quality earlier in 2009 only in the recent months managed to return to the top notch standards of a gourmet restaurant, offering international inspired haute cuisine?
It is not so much what is going on at the California Grill but what is going on at Inventions next door … (more…)
