Directly after the Halloween evening started Disneyland Paris to install the last Christmas decorations.
Especially some shops at the Main Street, the Town Square with the large Christmas tree and the Central Plaza with the little winter wonderland needed a redesign after the Halloween season.

From the 2nd november the Disneyland Park guests could see the daily progress. One of the best points to observe for example the work at the Town Square was from the Disneyland Railroad station at the begin of the Main Street. The installations proceeded also during the days so that all changes have been finished in time before the weekend.

Popcorn – it used to be “sweet” or “salty” weren’t the only two options for this beloved snack at Disneyland Paris. But after a test run last summer and fall alternatively flavored popcorn is back at the Disneyland Park! We sure know someone who would have loved it – anyone still remember the family and their son’s friend from the first Disneyland Paris souvenir video sold at the park?
Above pictured popcorn cart is located in Fantasyland and offers “coconut” flavor, while the popcorn cart on the right can be found in Thunder Mesa (straight ahead when entering Frontierland through the fort). In the wild west setting the special flavor offered is “gingerbread”. With now four flavors (or are there more? Let us know if you come across additional flavors in the resort!) which one is your preferred flavor?
Also note the new popcorn bucket available at the Fantasyland cart with coconut flavored popcorn. The new design is sure to excite all Mickey Mouse fans.

April 126 will see the official start of the Disney Magical Moments festival at Disneyland Paris to last till early 2012. The festival includes two new entertainment offerings: the Disney Dance Express and Mickey’s Magical Celebration.
The Disney Dance Express replaces the Disney Character Express and is scheduled to be presented about 3 times daily during the morning hours. It will feature Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, Pluto, Chip and Dale together with a dance crew. The train of the former Disney Character Express will transport the whole group to Central Plaza where they will stop for a high energy dance performance inviting especially younger guests to join in.
Mickey’s Magical Celebration is the new stage show presented on the Central Plaza stage. However, different from the Disney Showtime Spectacular (presented on the same stage during 2010) it is currently planed to present the new show only once per day to close of the day. The show features Mickey (for the second half of the show wearing his sorcerer’s apprentice costume), the Fairy Godmother, the Genie (for the first time ever at Disneyland Paris as a face character), Merlin and the Disney Princesses with their Princes: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Tiana and – for the first time at Disneyland Paris with her fellow Disney Princesses – Rapuncel with Flinn.
Past Thursday, March 25th, the Disneyland Park hosted a preview of both the Disney Dance Express and Mickey’s Magical Celebration for guests of an (upcharge) after-hour event in the park. YouTube user stitch59000Â was on hand for both performances and uploaded complete videos of both performances to YouTube … if you are interested both have been embedded below the jump – however, if you don’t want to see the performance before your visit to the park … just don’t click! Over the years the originally only temporary stage on Central Plaza has become more and more elaborate. It has grown in size and in regard to the various special effects and technical features built in – such as lighting recessed into the stage floor, two stage elevators, firework preparations, housing for projectors of the castle projection system, smoke machines, … However, over the years one problem remained: the built up of ice over-night during the winter season. As reported earlier the ongoing re-paving of the parade route in Fantasyland still forces the parade to operate in a unique, limited mode as introduced earlier this year in January when the re-paving project started next to Central Plaza. The parade enters the park on Town Square, moves up the Main Street, circles around Central Plaza and then heads back the Main Street to exit once again on Town Square.
This requires the Once Upon a Dream parade to be short enough to allow the final parade float and dancers to enter Central Plaza before the first float / dancer has circled Central Plaza and heads back onto the Main Street. This required some shortening – in particular the massive float of the Princesses for the final “Dream of Romance” act of the parade had to be cut. Only the smaller princess float of Jasmine and Aladdin remained in the parade, while the other princesses and their princes have to walk along. (more…)

Yesterday we reported about the return of the (tweaked) Enchanted Fireworks and the (also tweaked) Disney’s Fantillusion parade for the summer season. However, not every entertainment offering from the past year has made its comeback. In particular smaller offerings such as “Good Morning Studios” and the “Toon Train” in the Studios are gone (as well as the “High School Musical” performance) – without replacement, even so “Stitch or friends” are supposed to pose for photos and sign autographs on the Place des Stars for 3 1/2 hours each afternoon adding to the lineup of characters usually found in Toon Plaza, on the Front Lot and at the Monsters. Inc. photo backdrop. Interestingly the visits of Jack Sparrow to the pirates’ section of the Disney Blockbuster Cafe have been stopped as well. Â The picture at the Disneyland Park is slightly different though… (more…)

Just one respectively two days ago we summed up the rumors regarding the entertainment offerings at the Disneyland Park and at the Walt Disney Studios Park coming to the conclusion that the range might be rather limited despite the “New Generation Festival” starting in April – in particular since one announced happening in the studios, “Monsters Inc. Scream Academy”, is rumored to have been cancelled prior to its premier (despite its cast having already been assigned) and the fact that it is still not confirmed whether the rumored show “Disney Showtime Spectacular” (replacing “It’s Party Time … with Mickey and Friends” on the Central Plaza Stage) in the Disneyland Park will be performed multiple times throughout the day or just once in the evening. However, now we learned that TODAY an open casting is conducted by Disneyland Paris for an all new show in a dance studio in Pantin! (more…)

Over the years the various entertainment offerings in both theme parks at Disneyland Paris have been closely scrutinized by fans, a considerable group of whom in the recent years became more and more vocal. Subject of the criticism were in particular the limited amount of entertainment offered outside high season, the sometime as stale or not popular enough perceived offerings and what can only be seen as waste of money by the entertainment team in the form of ordering the construction of a major stage on Central Plaza, when other stages sit mostly unused.
With the “New Generation Festival” starting in April 2010 for both theme parks and the heavy emphasize that the resort itself put on the entertainment offerings the rumor mills started turning fast again and then jumping into overdrive when suddenly reports about the pre-opening cancellation of a small happening planned for the Walt Disney Studios Park surfaced during the past weekend. Unfortunately that is not the only bad report / rumor coming out of the resort for the entertainment offerings … time for a “rumor sum up”! (more…)

With this winters’ extreme cold and heavy snow fall the open air entertainment at the Disneyland Park certainly had to be temporarily restricted at times, with e.g. the performance stops of the Disney Fantillusion parade being cut out or some performances of shows being cancelled even on short notice, especially during the even colder late hours of the day – e.g. the final performance on the show “It’s Party Time… with Mickey and Friends”. Speaking of the show “It’s Party Time…” the special, soft material used as the stage floor of the newly constructed stage for this show seems to need special attention during the winter season.
While the Royal Castle Stage (built in time for the park’s grand opening in 1992) can be left unattended even during the coldest days with heavy (more…)

“It’s Party Time… with Mickey and Friends” presented several times daily on the huge new stage constructed on Central Plaza is supposed to be the centerpiece of this year’s big party celebrated in the Disneyland Paris. Unfortunately the show is lagging in crowd response and rarely if every manages to attract crowds filling the vast space of Central Plaza – rain or shine the audience usually never is up to what could be expected. Therefore in particular the guest interaction parts usualy get very timid reactions if at all and it is not rare to see guests leave only a few minutes into the show or not even stop when passing by during a performance.
The entertainment team is trying to react to the guests voting with their feet – however, not with the needed complete overhaul of the show but with minimal changes … to no effect. The guest interaction with its overly complicated choreographies that at best result in head scratching by guests are still in. Instead minor details are changed. Example? Originally Goofy raced around the center of the stage trying to get the audience to get a ”la ola” (a wave as known from soccer stadiums and concerts) racing around the stage as well. Now this has been replaced with Goofy trying to get the “la ola” no longer circling the stage but going from the center to the outside, i.e. from the first row of guests to the last – and the results are still as disappointing as originally.
