Just like years pass by, so do whole decades, too.
The first decade of the “new” Millennium is almost over (though this is not mathematically correct, its how most of us feel) – btw: is there someone out there among you readers, who still remembers dlp.info’s glorious Millenium Fan Meeting? – and the first signs of the dawn of a new decade may already be seen at Disneyland Paris.
At least in the shops where the first pieces of merchandising for 2010 have already been added to the selection of products as you can see on these pictures:

At the dawn of a decade…
Thursday, September 24th, 2009Get your stuff to dance along
Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009
One of the central features of the “It’s Party Time… with Mickey and Friends”, the major show presented on Central Plaza up to five times daily, was supposed to be the “interaction” with guests surrounding the stage and dancing along to the instructions of the Disney characters and the huge cast of dancers.
Even so this concept did not play out the way it was intended the cast is still trying hard and the creative minds of entertainment are not giving up on the idea – in fact they now also got the merchandise department into the game! (more…)
Get it ONLY in this shop
Saturday, August 29th, 2009
Browsing the shops in the Disneyland Paris, in particular the highly themed shops in the two theme parks certainly is a great experience. Among the merchandise guests can discover great theming details extending the stories told in the part. Also each shop usualy has an assortment on area /theme specific merchandise in addition to more general resort items over the recent years regular guests more and more noticed that the items spread out over the various boutiques were nearly all available in various locations making it less rewarding to stroll through all shops. Sure a location as the shop at the exit of the Tower of Terror featured nearly exclusively merchandise themed to the Tower of Terror. Still most of it could also be picked up in other stores such as the shop in Studio 1 – but may this change? (more…)
More time to shop
Friday, August 28th, 2009
Signs at the entrance to the Disneyland Park currently inform guests that for their convenience all shops on the Main Street, U.S.A. as well as the shop Constellations in Discoveryland and the shops of Thunder Mesa in Frontierland remain open an hour longer than hhe official operating hours of the park – till 11:00 pm.
While usually not announced such extended operating hours are normal for the shops on Main Street as guests pass the on their way to the exit. However, the extension for Constellations and the shops of Thunder Mesa comes as a surprise.
Currently these extended hours for the shops are scheduled till Sunday, August 30th, the final day of the summer season. However, the fact that date independent signs have been added to the backside of the signage used to inform guests about filming in the park could be seen as an indicator that the resort is considering to bring these hours back on other dates on which the park closes at 10:00 pm.
Pixar arrives in Hollywood
Thursday, August 27th, 2009
… the Hollywood Picture shop in the Disney Village that is. The shop is dedicted to the Disney magic of Hollywood and related merchandise featuring according themes, such as a large statue of Mickey Mouse in his best dress for the OSCAR ceremony. Following the trend of the recent years to introduce the universe of the Disney Pixar characters to the Disney resorts a giant clap board on the right side wall of the shop, right next to the CD display, now is displaying a family photo of some of the most memorable characters from the Disney Pixar features – even so it is a bit scary to see Nemo and his friends swim in the air above the other characters. Even so the decoration is pretty new it is worth noting that the characters of the latest Disney Pixar feature, UP, are not yet features in the “family photo”.
Another Summer Sale

No need to worry - if you are about to visit the resort no later than August 30 (which would be next Sunday) you are in luck as a second big summer sale is going on (since August 3). The usual red “Promotion” signs can be found on select displays in shops throughout the Disneyland Park (and in smaller numbers also in the remainder of the resort). (more…)
Yellow no more & more new merchandise
Saturday, July 25th, 2009
For decades Disney parks around the world were swarmed by guests in bright yellow ponchos on rainy days looking from the air as if swarms of giant bees were bussing around the park in the rain. But in the recent years the US-resorts replaced the bright yellow plastic ponchos with clear (see through) plastic ponchos. And now the Disneyland Resort Paris is following this trend.
While for 2007 and 2008 the resort ordered yellow ponchos with large 15th anniversary logos (that are still on sale in some shops in the resort) now the first deliveries of new clear (see through) plastic ponchos have arrived and are on sale e.g. in some shops on the Main Street, U.S.A., on rainy days. The new ponchos also feature a new logo featuring only the name “Disneyland Paris” with the “A” in the two words being formed by a drawing of the Eiffel Tower. (more…)
Contactless Payment tested
Friday, July 24th, 2009When the French financial institute Crédit Mutuel announced that it had become one of the Official Partners of the Disneyland Resort Paris earlier this year it also stated that it would eventually (amongst others) “propose innovative payment alternatives to the resort visitors“. At the time no further information was available but now the resort and Crédit Mutuel have revealed the (maybe only first?) “innovative payment” system to be offered to (selected) guests in the resort: a contactless payment system!
