Costumeing – now at Studio 4

November 11th, 2010 by Dirk

The central costumeing building for the whole resort, where costumes not only for shows, parades as well as for regular cast members are prepared and stored had been integrated into the Backlot Tram Tour since the opening of the Walt Disney Studios Park in 2002. Still, since guests could not see it from inside the park (except on the Tram Tour) it was never considered to be “on stage”. This changed with the opening of the Toy Story Playland this summer… …[more] »

Disney’s Enchanted Christmas at the Studios

November 11th, 2010 by Andy de Maertelaere

You can already see the Christmas decorations at the front of Studio 1 with some lights, decorations at the shop and the transformed photo opportunity car to a real Christmas car, but the big lot of decorations can be found back inside the studio 1 building.

Inside Studio 1 you will find – as every year - tons of decorations on the walls and on top of buildings, including some “golden” trees on top of the restaurant reservations building, green Christmas trees on top of the Schwab’s Pharmacy building, Christmas lights against the many facades and Christmas tinsels enhancing the studios to the fullest. …[more] »

EuroDisney S.C.A in the red – again

November 10th, 2010 by Dirk

Today EuroDisney S.C.A. has released the results of the fiscal year 2010 which ended on September 30, 2010. Unfortunately the heading of this news sums up the results pretty well. However, a closer look reveals some interesting information which – in at least one case – may have a significant impact on the future of the resort. On first view the resort continued to improve its situation by reducing the net loss from 63 million Euro for the fiscal year 2009 to 45.2 million Euro for the fiscal year 2010. However, the positive impression of this number doesn’t hold up so well upon a closer look. …[more] »

Disney’s Enchanted Christmas at the Disneyland Park

November 10th, 2010 by Andy de Maertelaere

Christmas has started at the Disneyland Resort and we have already invited you on a preview of it in the Disneyland Hotel and shown you some of the Christmas merchandise. With the first Christmas weekend at the park behind us, let’s have a look and some of the Christmas magic inside the Disneyland Park.

It doesn’t take long before you can see Christmas has arrived inside the Disneyland Park. For those that arrived on the Friday could still see the green fence around the Christmas tree at the front of Main Street U.S.A., but once you entered the park as from Saturday the view became unrestricted as the fences where removed overnight. The big tree is the first thing you will notice, it is difficult to overlook as it stands as a giant piece just in front of Main Street. Around it you will find a lot of smaller trees covered with snow on a snowy platform. Just in front of the tree you will see Father Christmas sledge. Or should I say Father Goofy, as it is he who welcomes the children at Disneyland dressed up in the famous red Christmas suit. In the evening the tree is the centre piece for the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony where Mickey Mouse will turn on the Christmas lights during a beautiful celebration. …[more] »

More Guests – More Turnstiles?

November 9th, 2010 by Dirk

With the opening of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror the Walt Disney Studios Park received a first major boost followed by a second boost provided by Crush’s Coaster. However, the opening of the Toy Story Playland late this summer and the heavy advertising fireworks that accompanied seems to have finally put the second park of Disneyland Paris on the map for many guests. While attendance had been growing already over the past years since the opening of Toy Story Playland suddenly long lines are forming every morning in front of the turnstiles. Time to take action for the resort… …[more] »

World of Disney Store construction picks up

November 8th, 2010 by Dirk

As widely discussed among fans a World of Disney Store is rumored to come to the Disney Village rather sooner than later. While the Disney Village has not yet managed to find a follow-up use for the former Hurricane’s Night Club (now closed for more than six months already) and no word is out what would happen to the current Disney Store of the Disney Village the construction in what is the rumored location of the World of Disney Store has once again picked up… …[more] »

With the official start of the Christmas season yesterday the Christmas merchandise can now be found in shops all over the resort and not just the dedicated Christmas Shops that have been set up in selected boutiques (as seen here at the Walt Disney Studios Store).

Christmas at the Disneyland Hotel

November 7th, 2010 by Dirk

Today the Christmas season offically started at Disneyland Paris – however, as already reported the decoration started going up already more than a week ago. This certainly was true for both parks, the Disney Village and the Disney hotels.

The first among the hotels to finish the decoration in its lobby for the new season this year was the Disneyland Hotel. Already on the past Monday the Christmas Tree was up and families snapped their photos seated on the large presents in front of it. …[more] »

Relive Disney’s Halloween Party

November 7th, 2010 by Dirk

One week ago today Disney’s Halloween Party took over the Disneyland Parc for a night of ghostly but still family friendly fun. During the sold out party guests could not only enjoy the regular attractions of Disneyland but also a unique atmosphere and special entertainment. In additon to street entertainment throughout the park ”The Disney Villains’ Halloween Showtime” (as performed up to three times daily during the Halloween season) received two special night time showings on Central Plaza and Disney’s Fantillusion did roll down the Main Street, U.S.A. starring Jack & Sally from Disney’s Nightmare Before Christmas in the rarely seen “Bat Forrest” float.

However, the real highlight of the night came at midnight: the sound & light show “Mickey and his Magic Halloween Night” on Central Plaza. This show combined a) a stage show with a large cast of dancers and numerous Disney characters (including Mickey, the Disney Villains, Merlin and many more) with b) low level fireworks on both sides of the castle as well as in front of it and c) still pictures as well as video projections on the castle. The video projections of various Disney Villains talking (in English) reached a new quality (and clarity) unseen so far at DLP… But why let us tell you about it – just take a look yourself and relieve the ghostly fun with our unique photo show featuring 68 unique impressions (certainly avertising free)!

P.S.: for high resolution versions of the photos just click on the photo in the show – additonal controls will show up when you move your mouse over the photos.
