In a follow up to the post earlier today covering the various marketing measures and a special discount promotion for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show it now seems that the (in the meantime taken down) big poster on the facade of the entrance to the show arena in the Disney Village was just a temporary place holder. In the meantime a huge 3-dimensional figure of Mickey Mouse dressed up as cowboy (complete with cowboy hat but with his regular yellow boots) has been attached to the wall. The figure has been designed to give the impression that Mickey climbed down on a rope from the roof top and (with his feet against the wall) pushes himself away to wink at the guests.

Cowboy Mickey advertising Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009Did you hear about Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show?
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009
Did you? It is now featuring Mickey and Friends! If you visited the Disneyland Resort Paris sometime since this spring you should have noticed as the resort is pushing the dinner show with posters, flyers and announcements (e.g. on the resort tv as well as the screens in the lobby of the hotels) heavily. In addition the huge screens of Cinema Mickey in the Videopolis are now also used to show an extensive ad for the dinner show once per hour, shortly before a new cycle of the classic Mickey shorts starts (which is always on the hour). Is it Christmas already?
Sunday, July 26th, 2009
That is the question some guests may ask themselves when browsing through the Disney Gallery in the Disney Village, where right next to the items of the current sale the first displays of new merchandise for the Christmas Season 2009 have been added. However, then most guests will only visit the resort and its shops only once in a couple of years so offering the popular christmas merchandise year round has always been a concept – even so usually the christmas merchandise used to be limited to the year round christmas shop inside Sleeping Beauty Castle until shortly before the actual Christmas Season begins in early November. Hurry… the SALE is ending soon!
Tuesday, July 21st, 2009
Walking down your local high street you will be hard pressed to miss the huge “SALE” signs all over the place as the regular summer sales are combined with special sales due to the economic situation. So surprise – the Disneyland Resort Paris is also currently (since June 24) conducting a resort wide sales in its shops and boutiques for a various products from clothing, to all kinds of souvenirs but also upscale pricy collectibles such as Disney Classic Collection figurines. Signage has been further increased compared to the prior years to make guests aware of the specials deals available.
Products included in the sale are varying from shop to shop (even so basically all shops offer some discounted products) as inventory of certain items may be depleted in one shop while still existing in others. So browsing through various shops may reveal great deals. Discounts are offered of 30%, 40% and even 50% on certain items! In addition some items habe been newly priced at 0.50, 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15 or 20 EUR as part of the sale. However, if you want to make a great deal you better hurry as the sale will end on Tuesday next week (July 28). But there is (more…)
Mickey’s Magical Party decorations
Friday, July 3rd, 2009Guests at the Disneyland Resort Paris this year can not escape the message … there is a party to celebrate … Mickey’s Magical Party. Posters featuring Mickey, Goofy, Donald and Pluto and special decorations are everywhere – on construction fences, special billboards, posters, hangers, in the Disney Hotels, the Disney Village, Fantasia Gardens and certainly in both theme parks. In particular the Main Street in the Disneyland Park has been decked out.
There are special decorations on the entrances to the Emporium, some more sutle some rather intrusive, and certainly the special poles along the Main Street. As for the (more…)
Table Service & Buffet Restaurant Update from DLRP
Friday, June 26th, 2009
Since 1992 the Disneyland Resort Paris is offering guests a unique choice of high quality table service restaurants (and buffet restaurants) not only in the Disney hotels and the Disney Village but also in the Disneyland Park itself offering a relaxing quality atmosphere for lunch and dinner. After initial problems to fill the seats in the early days guests in the past years frequently had to be turned away at the restaurants if they showed up without a reservation. However, it seems the situation is changing again – not surprising considering the overal economic climate.
In reaction The Silver Spur Steakhouse, The Blue Lagoon (historical the most popular of the table service restaurants in the park) and Walt’s are offering an “Express Menu” for lunch consisting of two courses priced at 19.90 Euro per adult with the promise to serve it in 40 minutes (so also to attract one day guests who may be afraid to miss some of the park’s attractions if they spend time in the table service restaurants).
One location that seems unaffected so far seems to be the Agrabah Café in Adventureland, which in a surprise move closed off the small courtyard from the main walkway with a themed fence and seems to have prepared (more…)
Buffalo Bill, Mickey and friends
Thursday, June 25th, 2009
Since April 4, 2009 (or March 20th, 2009 if the preview performances are counted in as well) the dinner show “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show” in the Disney Village after nearly full 17 years (which makes it the longest running show of the resort) is presented in an updated version, which had “Mickey and friends” inserted into the story line of the longest running show of the Disneyland Resort Paris.
With the addition of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy as well as Chip’n'Dale the creative team not only wanted to liven up scenes such as the camp scene but also wanted to counter a trend over the recent years that saw the number of guests booking tickets for the dinner show dwindle. The logic here is that guests may have refrained from paying for the dinner show due to a lack of an obvious “Disney element” in it. (more…)
Starbucks now open for YOUR coffee break
Sunday, June 21st, 2009
Following the grand opening party for invited guests on Friday (see our report from Friday night) the new Starbucks Coffee location in the Disney Village is now open since yesterday in regular operation. The Starbucks in the Disney Village is located in the former Buffalo Trading Company, which was completely remodeled inside and outside. The new interior resembles the regular Starbucks’ style and architecture without any major references to Disney. It picks up several of the architectural elements that dominate the newly designed exterior facade, in particular the basket-style weaved wooden texture. (more…)
