Getting ready for TARZAN

After a two year hiatus the popular show “Tarzan – The Encounter” will return to the Chaparral Theater in Frontierland for the summer months of 2011. The show retells the story of the animated Disney classic with an acrobatic performance and a large cast underscored by the popular music of Phil Collins from the movie. Buzz for Constellations

Saturday, April 2nd, 2011

Over the years the Disney theme parks have tried with various attempts to attract more guests into the various boutiques. In the recent years one of the latest tricks has become to have shops built right at an attraction’s exit so that guests have to walk through the shop to exit the attraction building. One of the latest example of this can be found in the Walt Disney Studios with the Twilight Zone Tower of Tower.

When Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast replaced the Visionarium in Discoveryland the adjacent Constellations boutique received a complete make-over to a Buzz Lightyear / Space Control theme, however, even so the exit ramp of the attraction ended just opposite of one of the shop’s entries guests were still free whether to walk into the shop or turn sharp left to exit bypassing the shop. Soon enough shop displays were added in the area between and the floor received large stickers guiding guests into the shop. However, it seems to many guests resisted these gentle hints for the liking of the resort’s management. Hence, earlier this year the outdoor shop displays and the graphics on the floor disappeared to allow for the installation of a solid metal fence forcing guests to enter the shop when exiting the ride. Another Magical Moment in Adventureland

Friday, April 1st, 2011

After the photo set of Mad Hatter’s tea party in Fantasyland and the photo set with Kaa and Zazu (plus the “interactive” drum play set) in Adventureland the third new photo set-up has been made accessible to guests that will be part of the upcoming Disney Magical Moments festival at the Disneyland Park: Aladdin’s magic lamp.

Differing from the photo set for Mad Hatter’s tea party this second addition of the year to Adventureland is actually all new and does not incorporate any old photo sets. It is located on one of the outer walls of the Bazar in Adventureland, next to the small courtyard that is occassionaly used as outdoor seating for the Agrabah Cafe. (more…)

Who are you? Alice? The Mad Hatter? or…

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Remember when we reported on Wednesday that the old photo location at Alice’s Curious Labyrinth had disappeared and the new one – announced as part of the Disney Magical Moments festival – not yet appeared? Here is an update: while the actual labyrinth continues its rehab the photo location in the alcove in front of it (opposite of the March Hare Refreshments) has arrived. As you can see in a new video by YouTube user DisneyFilmparade embedded below the break the new photo location is much richer and extensive than the prior one which only consisted of the red throne and a chair by its side.  (more…)

Pirate’s Rehab Adventure

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Today is officially (i.e. based on the resort’s published rehab schedule) the last day for the closure of the signature attraction of Adventureland: Pirates of Caribbean. During the course of the nearly one month long rehab the exterior and the interior of the attraction got spruced up. For example in the photo on the right (taken on March 25th) in front of one of the masts holding up the shade cover for the outdoor queue the device can be spotted used by the workers to repaint it.

During the rehab the Blue Lagoon restaurant (located in the same structure) as well as the shop between the restaurant and the attraction’s exit remained closed as well and the access to the courtyard in front of them was blocked by the extensive construction fences along the main walkway.
