As widely reported Disney’s Sequoia Lodge is undergoing a major refurbishment in several stages. In a “first” step the rooms in the lodges received a complete make-over with the rooms in the main building to follow soon as well. Also the hallways of the lodges were upgraded as were selected parts of the public areas in the main building (such as e.g. at least one elevator). (more…)

Scaffolding in the National Park
Wednesday, April 27th, 2011Become a RC Racer add-on
Tuesday, April 26th, 2011
When the Toy Story Playland opened in the late summer of 2011 a small-scale RC Racer on a piece of race track was found next to the queue building of the RC Racer attraction to function as a photo set. Guests could step inside and get their photo taken. However, after a few days the set-up was blocked off after children started climbing all over it and management identified the set-piece as a safety risk. Soon it was gone leaving a rather odd open space in the Toy Story Playland. The RC Racer car resurfaced earlier this year as decoration along the Studio Tram Tour track.
And now, finally, a replacement has made its way into the Toy Story Playland. The new photo location can be seen on the right. It has gone in the exact same spot as the original photo set. Guests can now step into the blister package of an RC Racer toy to get their photo taken as if they were part of the add-ons coming with the remote control car.
Space Rangers called (back) into Constellations
Tuesday, April 26th, 2011
As reported earlier this year a metall barrier / fence was installed at the exit of Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast funneling guests into the shop Constellations. Then in the past weeks suddenly the barrier disappeared and fans rejoiced that the resort had realized that forcing guests from the ride into the frequently already overcrowded shop was a far from perfect idea. However, this reaction came to early. (more…)
Luxury Dining Behind Scaffolding
Tuesday, April 26th, 2011
As the VIPs and press invited for the official kick-off of this year’s Magical Moments Festival have gone for some time the resort continues its program of major rehabs at full force. The latest addition to the rehab list has seen extensive scaffolding going up around the complete facade of “Walt’s – An American Restaurant” on Main Street U.S.A.
As can be seen in the photo on the right currently the scaffolding is only hidden behind a white tarp, but based on past experiences with similar rehab projects on facades of the Main Street buildings a painted / printed tarp should be going up soon so better to hide the work / less impacting the photos taken by guests on the Main Street. Big Thunder Mountain Accident – BREAKING NEWS (now with UPDATE 3)
Monday, April 25th, 2011You may want to jump directly to our follow-up coverage with updated details correcting some of the early reports and providing more in depths information!
Around 3 pm on Easter Monday, April 25, 2011 five guests were injured riding the Big Thunder Mountain rollercoaster in Frontierland of Disneyland Paris. According to the French paper Le Parisien the guests on board of one of the main trains (i.e. coaster trains) were hit by some fake rock work that fell down on them. The fake rock was made out of resin. (see updates 1 & 2) According to first reports the train at that time was located on the final lift hill of the attraction (“lift C”). This lift hill is inside a tunnel in which movement of rockwork on the walls and above the guests together with lighting and sound effects is supposed to simulate an earthquake with an explosion followed by the tunnel supposedly caving in on the train which – normally – would escape at the last second onto the final section of the coaster track.
While four of the five injured guests on board of the train were able to continue their day inside Disneyland after being treated on-site by the emergency personnel the fifth guests – a 40 year old French men according to Le Parisien – had to be moved to the hospital Beaujon in Clichy-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine) due to head injuries. According to a statement by a state official provided to Reuters the injury of this fifth guests is considered serious. According to Le Parisien the family of the seriously injured guest will be hosted by the resort for the time he is in the hospital. (more…)
Goodbye Nescafé – Hello Segafredo
Monday, April 25th, 2011With
April 12 not only did the resort get another year older – also, as usual, it was time for some sponsors’ contracts to be renewed or them being replaced. This year we can note the addition of MasterCard that already late last yeard had the replaced VISA as the official credit card of the resort (which therefore hadn’t been listed as a sponsor lately). However, there are also exits without replacement: Dole (who most recently sponsored the Blue Lagoon and the Café de la Brousse (both in Adventureland) has been scrapped off the list. Also gone are Ford (which had replaced Opel / Vauxhall as the resort’s official car sponsor) and Hasbro as well as IBM and Kellog’s.
Where still 15 sponsors were listed on the park maps at the beginning of the year now only 11 are left. This is certainly also reflected on the sign announcing sponsors on the walls of the City Hall. However, one important change among the sponsors and partners is only half-way reflected in these two lists. There is a new addition we haven’t mentioned so far: Segafredo Zanetti, an Italian coffee brand! (more…)
Recharge now – at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge
Saturday, April 23rd, 2011
Need to recharge during the first half of the day when the bar at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge is still closed? No problem – for a while already a coffee vending machine is helping with that (for EUR 2 per hot drink). However, if it’s not you but your mobile phone or iPod that needs recharging … well a coffee machine is not going to be much help. Things get even worse if the charger / power adapter has gone missing or has been forgotten at home.
A couple of years ago a re-charging station for selected mobile phone brands had been set up at one of the counters in the Disneyland Hotel. But as DLRPStuff reported on twitter an all new charging system has been set-up in the lobby of Disney’s Sequoia Lodge most recently. (more…)

With the new Fantasyland opening in the near future and Toon Town disappearing in the process, Mickey needed a new place. From now on Guests of the Magic Kingdom can visit the mouse in the Town Square Theater at the front of Main Street. Once you enter the park you’ll be able to see the theater at the right hand side.

Security Check at SQL
Monday, April 4th, 2011
We have to admit: considering that SQL is the official IATA airport code for the San Carlos Airport in San Mateo County, California, USA the headline could be a bit misleading – afterall we are not talking about security measures at said airport but at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge, the Disney Hotel at Disneyland Paris which is abbreviated to SQL.
