Following up on the permanent “correction” of the sightline across the roof of the Disney Art of Animation toward the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop today we have a temporary sightline correction to report that is related to the Toy Story Playland as well. This time it is related to the construction site for the (so far only rumored) future Ratatouille dark ride to be added to the Walt Disney Studios Park, next to the costumeing building. When exiting the Toy Story Playland through the giant blue Barrel of Monkeys guests walk straight toward the blue construction fence that blocks access to this construction site.
Guest would be able to see across the fence any potential future construction work while walking straight toward it. However, currently the unthemed beige back facade of the costumeing building is still domination the view through the barrel - not that this would be a really nice sight. In fact it is a rather harsh contrast to the themed Toy Story Playland as well as the Parisian Street onto which the barrel exit leads. To help ease this effect additional high towering bamboo plants have been moved in planters right behind the fence blocking most of the view onto the building facade at least from withing the Barrel of Monkeys.
A close look at the blue construction fence though reveals another subtle but important change: lights illuminating the walkway in front of the fence have been built into several panels of the blue fence. The way it looks luminaires usually used in ground floor have been repurposed for this. The installation of the luminaires indicates that the blue construction fence at least in the lower section of the Parisian Street is there to stay for a while. However, even the rumores indicated that a potential future Ratatouille ride should not be expected to open before 2013 – so the presence of the construction fence for a longer periode of time had to be expected.
