World of Disney Store construction picks up

Monday, November 8th, 2010

As widely discussed among fans a World of Disney Store is rumored to come to the Disney Village rather sooner than later. While the Disney Village has not yet managed to find a follow-up use for the former Hurricane’s Night Club (now closed for more than six months already) and no word is out what would happen to the current Disney Store of the Disney Village the construction in what is the rumored location of the World of Disney Store has once again picked up… (more…)

Monday, November 8th, 2010

With the official start of the Christmas season yesterday the Christmas merchandise can now be found in shops all over the resort and not just the dedicated Christmas Shops that have been set up in selected boutiques (as seen here at the Walt Disney Studios Store).

For the Christmas Season 2010 some of the most popular items from years past have been brought back. However, there is certainly also a wide selection of all new merchandise available… (more…)

Christmas at the Disneyland Hotel

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

Today the Christmas season offically started at Disneyland Paris – however, as already reported the decoration started going up already more than a week ago. This certainly was true for both parks, the Disney Village and the Disney hotels.

The first among the hotels to finish the decoration in its lobby for the new season this year was the Disneyland Hotel. Already on the past Monday the Christmas Tree was up and families snapped their photos seated on the large presents in front of it. (more…)

Relive Disney’s Halloween Party

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

One week ago today Disney’s Halloween Party took over the Disneyland Parc for a night of ghostly but still family friendly fun. During the sold out party guests could not only enjoy the regular attractions of Disneyland but also a unique atmosphere and special entertainment. In additon to street entertainment throughout the park ”The Disney Villains’ Halloween Showtime” (as performed up to three times daily during the Halloween season) received two special night time showings on Central Plaza and Disney’s Fantillusion did roll down the Main Street, U.S.A. starring Jack & Sally from Disney’s Nightmare Before Christmas in the rarely seen “Bat Forrest” float.

However, the real highlight of the night came at midnight: the sound & light show “Mickey and his Magic Halloween Night” on Central Plaza. This show combined a) a stage show with a large cast of dancers and numerous Disney characters (including Mickey, the Disney Villains, Merlin and many more) with b) low level fireworks on both sides of the castle as well as in front of it and c) still pictures as well as video projections on the castle. The video projections of various Disney Villains talking (in English) reached a new quality (and clarity) unseen so far at DLP… But why let us tell you about it – just take a look yourself and relieve the ghostly fun with our unique photo show featuring 68 unique impressions (certainly avertising free)!

P.S.: for high resolution versions of the photos just click on the photo in the show – additonal controls will show up when you move your mouse over the photos.

When Two Holidays Collide

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Just two more nights before the Christmas season officially starts at Disneyland Paris. Following closely on the heels of the Halloween season that ended Monday evening the resort is racing at high speed to get the one set of decorations down while the others go up. In fact the resort actually took a head-start to redecorating and decided to go for the “when two holidays collide look” already to the extremly busy final week of the Halloween season.

Already by last weekend at least parts of the Christmas decorations had been installed at all Disney hotels but Disney’s Sequoia Lodge. In fact, Disney’s Hotel New York and the Disneyland Hotel had already their impressive christmas trees in the hotel lobbys set up – while still retaining Halloween decorations in other areas. Disney’s Sequoia Lodge for example features special Halloween decorations in black and orange complete with pumpkins jack-o-lanterns not only in its bar but also its two restaurants. (more…)

It’s getting hairy

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

The countdown for the big screen premiere of Walt Disney Pictures animated feature “Tangled” based on the classic fairy tale Rapunzel is in the red hot phase with under a month left. Both Disney resorts in the US have already gotten into the game by opening character meet’n'greets with Rapunzel and the movie’s hero Flynn Ryder and adding first merchandise offerings. In Europe so far only the Disney Stores (such as on the Champs Elysees in Paris) have added merchandise – but not yet the Disneyland Paris (which is still rolling out the new Christmas collection). However, Disneyland Paris is now getting into the game as well.

In time for the busy Halloween season a huge poster advertising the upcoming movie with the tagline “Adventure Is In The Hair” and showing off both heroine and hero of the upcoming feature had been added above the main doors of Studio 1 facing toward the Hollywood Boulevard in the Walt Disney Studios Park. And soon enough both stars will enter the Disneyland Park next door for real… (more…)

Bonfire with a Disney twist

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

For several years Disneyland Paris already celebrates Guy Fawkes Night aka Bonfire Night with a large bonfire and fireworks at Lake Disney. Traditionally a huge bonfire structure had been errected in the center of the lake to be set ablaze by Mickey and Minnie arriving by boat followed by a firework display. However, this year Disneyland Paris has given the spectacular even more of a Disney twist…

Already since late last week floating structures holding loudspeaker towers aiming at the lake’s promenade in front of Disney’s Hotel New York and Disney’s Sequoia Lodge could be seen on the lake. Also a large disco / mirror ball had been placed on a platform in the lake. In addition five more - by Monday morning still empty – platforms could be spotted as well on the lake. (more…)

Goodbye Halloween, Hello Christmas

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Halloween has ended and a new holiday is already lurking around the corner. There is almost no gap between the two holidays! Shops jump from Halloween to Christmas before you know it. Holiday season is already finding its way on television, decorations already going up at Christmas fans’ homes and some have their Christmas shopping already completely done and ready. No difference at Disneyland Paris where the Halloween season came to an end Monday evening and preparations for the Christmas season (which started already weeks ago) are now in full swing. (more…)
