Handling Disney’s Halloween Party crowds

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

As the crowds descend with the sunny weather on the Disneyland Park for the Halloween day and the sold out Disney’s Halloween Party the resort is doing it’s best to keep lines short. Ad usual on busy days there are lines at the security checks in front of Fantasia Gardens as well as the the ticket counters ad the turnstiles. But once inside guests with a ticket for tonight’s party will find a pleasant surprise: starting right now the party tickets can e exchanged for a bracelet that allows the guests to stay in the park when it closes before the party and thus avoid long lines at the turnstiles tonight.

Till 5 pm the bracelets are handed out below the Main Street Station (at the former locker location). While there is a line right now it can be expected to disappear later in the day. As of 5.30 pm the bracelets will be available in front of Gibson’s Girls at the top of the Main Street.

Disney’s Halloween Party SOLD OUT

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

After the sold out TERRORIFIC NIGHT 2 in the Walt Disney Studios with scary overlays / changes to the Tram Tour, Armageddon, Tower of Terror, Crush’s Coaster and Rock’n'Roller Coaster tonight the family friendly Disney’s Halloween Party in the Disneyland Park is coming up. However, if you plan to come by on short notice and have not yet secured a party ticket the ghosts have turned against you – large signs at the entrance to the park announce that the event is completely sold out.

Those already on-site and without a ticket (and desperate) may want to try their luck with the concierge of one of the Disney Hotels. As of yesterday the Disney Hotels still had a very limited amount of tickets available in case one of their hotel guests needs one… but no word so far whether this contingent is sold out in the meantime as well or how strict they are with checking for a hotel ID…

The Sun reports potential food contamination at DLP

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

The British newspaper “The Sun” yesterday, Wednesday October 13, 2010, reported that according to a confidential memo sent by the resort’s management to French tour operators the resort has become aware (due to information by the health authorities) that potentially with listeria bacteria contaminated salmon may have been served at Cafe Mickey in the Disney Village, The Steakhouse in the Disney Village as well as at Inventions at the Disneyland Hotel. What’s the big news for 2011 at Disneyland Paris?

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Sure there will be another year-round festival kicked-off in April. There will be some minor tweaks in the Disneyland Park (which for young girls will be really big in case of the Princess meet’n'greet in the former it’s a small world post show pavillion), the Earl of Sandwich restaurant will add another dining option to the offerings at the Disney Village (rounding out the offerings in the budget range in particular). Then there is still the question what will move into the large upper-level space originally occupied by the now closed Hurricane’s night club. Also, hopes are still up among fans that with a bit of luck the long awaited “World of Disney” (mega-)store will open in front of the Gaumont cinemas sometime in 2011 (which would bring up the question what to do with the large space currently occupied by the “Disney Store” in the Disney Village). Based on this one could assume the further development of the Disney Village could be the big theme for 2011.

To some degree this is true as the changes to 2011 might be the most obvious “news” for many guests in the resort coming 2011. However, there is some other more exciting “theme” that is under preparation … apparently management has decided to finally tackle the Disney hotel issue and roll out a major refurbishment program for the seven Disney lodgings… (more…)

After-Hour Accident at it’s a small world

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

According to a news report released by AP news and published by various international news papers, including amongst others the Orlando Sentinel, a worker was severely injured in an accident in it’s a small world before the park opened in the dawn hours of Wednesday, October 6th 2010. The resort decided to close the ride this Wednesday. No word yet, whether the ride will reopen on Thursday.

AP cites the local police as reporting that the 53-year old man (employed not by the resort itself but by a subcontractor) was pinned under one of the ride’s boats in the canal when the ride was inadvertently turned on. The man was transported to the hospital by helicopter but died once at the hospital. The thoughts of the whole DLP.info team go out to family and friends of the man.

While at this time no further information about the course of the accident is available the bare description as published by AP indicates that the worker should not be the one who turned the ride (as he must have been in the canal to get trapped under one of the a boat).
