Only 2 days ago we shared the news about the new deal with EuroDisney S.C.A. And the French state, where deadlines have been pushed back an additional 13 years. This includes the 3rd gate that has been in the original concept of the Paris resort. With the new dates pushed back, a 3rd gate seemed further away or might not even be an option if market conditions don’t improve. However news and rumors are already coming out that a third gate could be a first for a Disney resort, even if that’s still a long time away from really happening.
Paris might become the new home for the Marvel Super Heroes. According to the Telegraph Philippe Gas, the chief executive of EuroDisney S.C.A., said that one idea for a third gate in Disneyland Paris could be a super heroes park. Mr. Gas said that the decision to build the third gate might not be made before 2020 but could come earlier if the planned work for the Studios is complete.
It isn’t a surprise that Disney is looking the cash in on their Marvel acquisition. They are looking at any opportunity to make the Marvel deal a winner, this including movie deals as well as possible Marvel related theme parks. Although Disney owns Marvel, they cannot build a Marvel park inside the USA. When Universal opened their Islands of Adventure in Orlando they signed a deal with Marvel that they would be the only company that could use Marvel characters in a theme park. This contractual deal stands even after Disney, Universal Studios rival, bought the Marvel company. Hence, because of this deal, Disney can only build Marvel related parks outside of the USA.
While this is only one idea, if they would considerer using it, Disney will be up against the popular European comics that have big followers. The “bande dessinée” is big market in France and the rest of Europe, with US-comics still not as popular as they are in the USA. Although the popularity of the movies could help Disney make the decision to put the Marvel figures in a Paris park and go up against the popular French and European comics.
In Paris multiple comic stores can be found in the Latin Quarter where it’s already proven that the French do like the popular USA comics and that the Marvel character might have a place beside their popular European comic figures. Could they also find a place next to Disney’s house and attract guests and US comic fans from other countries? It could take 20 years before we will have an answer to that.

Oh please god no.
oh god no way, that has nothing to do with disney build an animal park or epcot or something else, that that no way
I think a marvel theme park is an awful idea; disney funs hates marvel heroes and viceversa
I wouldn’t want Marvel either, let’s keep it really Disney, please!
Lets have a Comic-Themepark with Disney Comics darkrides and Marvel Thrill-Rides for Adults :)
I anyway always missed Donald and the Boys, the Little Bad Woolf, and all the other comic characters and inhabitants of Duckburgh in Disneyland :-)
It would seem nice, a kind of “islands of adventure” park in Paris.
And hey, it’s a third park, if you don’t like it, don’t go there :)
I think it’ll be a success and I hope they will rebuild (& enhance) the attractions from the US… GREAT! :D
