The high season of the summer months has begun at Disneyland Paris so a slow day will be hard to find – however, for this news we look back onto the slower weekdays of the past June to tell you about one of the newer cost saving measures the resort has recently established. On busy days (such as during the summer months, on public holidays or weekends) guests can access Fantasia Gardens respectively the large plaza in front of the Walt Disney Studios through four separate gates: one straight opposite of the walkway from the main parking lot, which leads to the plaza in front of the Studios, one straight opposite of the Disney Village, which leads into Fantasia Gardens, a smaller gate to the far right, next to the RER station, which leads into Fantasia Gardens from the side, and finally a very small gate between the Disneyland Hotel and the Guest Relations building. Each of these gates has a separate bag check and requires security personel that is deployed by an outside security service company.
Therefore, to limit expenses for these security services, on most regular days only three of the four entrances are operated: the main entrance leading toward the Studios, the main entrance leading into the Fantasia Gardens and the small entrance next to the Disneyland Hotel. However, most recently the resort has decided to cut costs even further…
On slow weekdays (such as in June), the large entrance leading right onto the large plaza in front of the Studios was closed. Since regular signs indicate guests who want to visit the Studios shall proceed straight ahead from the main parking lot across the plaza between the parks, the Disney Village and the train station, temporary signs were set up on these days indicating that access to the Studios is offered via Fantasia Gardens only. While closing the smaller second gate at the far right leading into the Fantasia Gardens is rarely if ever noticed by guests, the closing of the main gate leading toward the Studios is hard to miss due to the large signs pointing to it as well as the fact that it sits straight ahead for all daytime guests walking up from the main parking lot. It needs to be seen whether this cost saving measure will return in fall.
