News from the Wild West

Time for the second to final round-up of the pre-summer season rehabs in the Disneyland Park. After Main Street, U.S.A. and Adventureland it is now time to go to the frontiers of the wild west i.e. Frontierland!

Nearly opposite of the entrance to Big Thunder Mountain snacks of various kinds have been offered from hot potatoes in the early years to ice cream and cold drinks more recently. Unfortunately the latest sales point consisted of pushed in cooling carts only and no longer the covered wagon from which the hot potatoes used to be sold. However, to improve the themeing a wooden structure has been added (and over the course of the last months further plussed) that now fuctions as back drop for the snack location.

Earlier this spring the Pocahontas Indian Village playground at the shores of the Rivers of the Far West was closed for a rehab – time for a belated look what was done during the closure. The most obvious change is visible from a distance already. Gone is the archway above the entrance and the sign held up by it. Instead a sign is now hung from the large grown trees to the right of the entrance. Also the complete area and the playground installations received a touch-up most notable maybe at the “rocking horses” at the far end.
