Attraction Merchandise

We just recently reported about the on-going wave of new merchandise tying into the “New Generation Festival” hitting the shops of Disneyland Paris. However, following its new concept of adding new merchandise more or less constantly the resort is not only premiering items related to this year’s festival. In addition the resort has remembered a merchandise category of its very early years: attractions specific merchandise (that is: beyond pins and photo frames)!

Currently the attraction with the widest choice of specific merchandise in the Disneyland Park is “Captain EO” (some of which we already featured in our news report a week and a half ago), while the title goes to the “Tower of Terror” in the Studios (which was already when it opened the first attraction in many years that featured a wide selection of attraction specific merchandise). But there are further attractions for which recently specific merchandise was released.

Most recently several clothing items were added to the merchandise selection devoted to the first ever roller coaster with a looping in a Disney theme park – Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril (Indiana Jones et le Temple du PĂ©ril). There is a dark hoody featuring the attractions logo in a subtle, small application on the breast (a close-up of which you can see on the right). However, there is also a more colorful childrens’ t-shirt. The latter shows of a cartoonish drawing of the temple with the coaster and Goofy.

In addition to the cartoon-style childrens’ t-short for Indiana Jones a whole collection of similar further childrens’ t-shirts are now available in the resort. The photo on the left shows a great overview of the t-shirts of this series as displayed in the Mercantile Building in Frontierland – also including designs for Big Thunder Mountain, the Carousel de Lancelot as well as the Tower of Terror from the park next door. Each design features the attraction in cartoon style as well as a popular Disney character (which is not necessarily normally associated with the according attraction).

Offering attraction specific merchandise helps freshen up the selection and adds new variety – so let’s hope that the current trend continues…
