The resort raced to the finish line of the past weekend with the last major rehab projects inside the Disneyland Park. We already talked about the Main Street, U.S.A., so lets venture on into the jungle of Adventureland to take a look which rehabs were still going strong in the past weeks. Even so Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril opened as scheduled in mid-June after a rehab the main walkway leading past Colonel Hathi’s Pizza Restaurant toward the temple’s excavation site remained closed. Crews scrambled to repair damages to the floor that the harsh freezing of the past winter had caused. The result was a maze of detour signs and congested walkways across Adventureland’s islands as access to the Indiana Jones coaster was limited to the small bridge leading from Adventure Isle to the far side of Adventureland.
Another visible rehab still going on in the past weeks affected the popular children’s playground Pirates Beach. All access to the walkways leading down toward the playground from the main walkways on the islands of Adventureland were closed. However, as there were no crews on-site and no visible signs of work it was not possible to say, whether the planned rehab concerned the actual playground or the floor of the paths leading to it.
The playground lies in the shadow the mighty gallon of Captain Hook which has been hard hit by the past winter as well, with paint peeling off rather visible. However, the before mentioned rehab work also barred guests from getting close to the ship. Unfortunately there are no indications that the mighty ship will received the much needed rehab anytime soon. Considering the fact that it is one of the most photographed elements in park right after Sleeping Beauty Castle its current state is particularly regrettable.

With all of these areas being maintained or refurbished, what is going to be opened in our favourite place in DLP at the start of August, I do understand that things do need to be fixed, last year the park was looking a bit tierd, however it is our only Holiday and trying to explain to 4 year olds that an place is closed, is quite unexceptable, hope it all gets done in time, anyway hope I do not sound too grumpy and still looking forward to DLP this year.
You should be fine as the rehabs were all timed to end before the big summer season so all the attractions should be open and ready for you in early August. However, depending when in August you visit you may miss out on the new Toy Story Playland which is officially scheduled to open on August 17 (as we reported) only. While traditionally Disney theme parks conduct so called soft openings (usually without prior announcement) and therefore guests might be able to try out the three new attractions prior to that date, there is no guarantee that and when those soft openings / test runs will be conducted.
