Welcome Back Studio 1 Facade

Finally! It felt like ages – and in fact it took more than 4 years – but since the past weekend finally the front facade of Studio 1, the backdrop of the Frontlot and the park’s entrance visible to guests about to enter the park from far out ahead of the turnstiles, is finally visible in all its glory again. Starting late last week the scaffolding has come down from the facade and should be completely gone by now.

On Friday the upper half of the scaffolding had been taken down revealing already the lettering above the huge gates as well as the park’s logo. However, at the same time workers were still busy painting the bright column on the far left corner of the facade standing on a platform.

Over night more scaffolding was taken down so that by Saturday morning only the lower half of section to the left of the main entrance gate was still hidden behind the scaffolding. Still the turning billboards to both sides of the main entrance into Studio 1 had already been turned on again advertising selected attractions of the park.

However, a closer look at the facade revealed that the holes drilled to mount the scaffolding to facade had yet to be filled in and the areas around them still await painting as seen in the picture on the left. Nevertheless, the Frontlot and the entrance to the Walt Disney Studios finally shine in the glory and beauty as originally intended (ignoring the fact that the buckets in the Sorcerer’s Apprentice fountain stopped sprouting water long ago).

Chances are that for the near future the front facade of Studio 1 should be standing without a scaffolding. Otherwise it would not be understandable, why the printed on canvas with the replica of the facade which covered the scaffolding, was not salvaged when taking down the scaffolding, but was cut off at which ever height the over-night removal of the scaffolding stopped in the morning.
