Excitement and anticipation make guests rush through the turnstiles as fast as possible into the parks at Disneyland Paris – which also explains why the latest turnstiles have gone unnoticed by most guests, even frequent ones, despite being in place since early this year already.
Gone are the screens visible to guests atop the actual turnstiles nd the smale k next to them. Their place has been taken by large metal plates with only small digital counters. Instead one touch screen per turnstile plus a more regulae keyboard (and a card reader for the cast members to unlock the screen and the keyboard) have been installed in the cast member location between the two turnstiles at each entrance.
For Annual Passport the screens show the picture and name of the owner plus additional information such as the type and numbed of the AP as well as the “type” of entrance, e.g. re-entry. Interestingly the type of the AP also includes information such as the number of extra months added for free (such us the 6 months extension offered currently with re-newals). Compared to the screens ont op of the actual turnstiles the new system not only allows for better checks of the photos of AP holders (as the picture is displayed bigger) but also allows for the display of important messages regarding a ticket without the guest being able to see these. The buttons displayed on the screen as seen in our photos also indicate that further functions may be available.

Not sure, if it’s new or not, but the turnstiles now great each visitor with a displayed and spoken “Welcome” both in Disneyland Park and in the Studios. Quite surprising, that is not “Bienvenue” as usually the Park’s spoken announcements are very francophone :-) (not everything is everytime fully translated into english :-)
They also have an infrared-scanner on top of the turnstiles – I guess for the stamps you get when park hopping. But I don’t see the point, I always use my ticket to switch parks. I really wonder what the stamps are for?
