at Disneyland Paris! A new castle … from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Certainly the Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at the heart of the Disneyland Park has not been replaced or completely redesigned. However, during the long rehab of the extension of Fantasyland housing the charming boat ride “Les Pays de Contes de FĂ©es” as well as the “childrens’ coaster” Casey, Jr. the castle from Disney’s Beauty and Beast sitting atop one of the higher hills in the area was completely rehabed.
The castle now shines in strong colors once again and its golden decorations shimmer in the sun providing a picture postcard backdrop for shots of Casey, Jr. as he winds around the castle and just as perfect a sight from the boat ride, where the castle is visible above Belle’s small village.
During the rehab the gardens of the area also received some attention (in particular in the front section of the ride) as did several of the minature scenes along the canals visible from both rides (unfortunately not all). However, the centerpiece of the area – the castle – was at the heart of the work and it clearly shows…
And speaking of rehabs for castles: according to usually well informed sources the resort is considering a major rehab for the Sleeping Beauty Castle at the heart of the park as well. Current plans are aiming to present the castle fully rehabed in new “old” glory in time for the resort’s 20th anniversary in 2012 at latest.
