Since April 2 guests of the two theme parks at Disneyland Paris receive the first edition of the current park maps not only featuring indications for the special entertainment that is part of the “New Generation Festival” but also announcing the upcoming Toy Story Playland in the Walt Disney Studios Park.
The new area is already fully featured in the new park map with all three of its attractions plus the designation “Opening end of Summer 2010″ in the description. Any other noteable changes in the park maps? Yes, for the WDS obviously the route of the Tram Tour was adjusted. However, hopes shouldn’t be getting too high, the park map does not indicate anything but the adjustment of the track route – no hints of any kind that new stuff might have been placed alongside the route during the current lengthy closure of this attraction. But there are some interesting details regarding the Toy Story Playland respectively its attractions in the map… (more…)

The wide stone bridge leading up to the main gate of the Sleeping Beauty Castle has returned from its un-scheduled rehab after the fierce winter temperatures had caused it too age faster than the resort had hoped. The result: guests can finally take an unobstructed photo of the park’s center piece again. The stone bridge now nearly shines bright white in front of the castle in the sunshine as if it popped out of a fairy tale book just seconds again.

So all back to normal? In a way yes – just better looking – and NO in another way. Only regular guests will notice a small change that was incorporated during the rehab… (more…)

The metall framework for the parachutes added to the lower end of the cables at the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop is not the only progress visible across the construction fence still closing off the future Toy Story Playland in the Walt Disney Studios. Certainly there are the bright orange steel tracks shaped like a huge “U” extending up into te skies above the trees – but there are also interesting
signs of progress to spot closer to the ground …
take for example the before mentioned bright orange track of the RC Racer. Following the track from the highest point to the lowest point of the “U” a building can be spotted that covers this flat part of the track. The construction of the walls and roof of this future station building for the RC Racer attraction have been completed, even so the walls are still to receive their paint job and themeing details. While the first large bamboo planted on the far side of the future Toy Story Playland area in the Walt Disney Studios starts to (at least partially) block the view of the current costume building for the resort from within in the new area of the park, the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop tower still towers high above everything else in the surrounding area of the parks (well, besides the Tower of Terror certainly). It’s green camoflage design doesn’t help it to blend in – shades of green just kind of stand out from the (at least today) blue skies.
However, there is also somethng good about this visual intrusion – at least during the current construction phase: it is easy to follow the construction progress for this specific attraction. Since the huge tower was errected and the extensions added at its top from which in the meantime the strong steel cables were dropped that will secure the “parachutes” / gondolas for guests progress to the actual ride seemed to have stopped more or less … but now there is something new to discover for guests that take a closer look across the construction fence! Shopping at Disneyland Resort Paris can be a lot of fun. Although some might disagree and see it is a stressful event, especially when you try to please the little ones.
But for those that do enjoy the Disney shopping, the magic already starts at the windows. The fun begins when you go window shopping.
Disneyland Paris always have great displays in their windows. It’s no difference this time with Elastigirl helping out. She has been given a whole new look in the Disney Store shop in the Village, she looks ready to party!

APRIL FOOLS JOKE
Fans and experts of the theme / amusement park industry were – to word it carefully – surprised when Disneyland Paris confirmed that Toy Story Playland would only open in August, i.e. half way through the busy summer season. Theme and amusement parks in general go to extraordinary length to assure that their new attractions are open in time for the summer, when the high season sets in. However, Disneyland Paris is ignoring this long established business rule. Or at least was planning to … someone in the management must have had second thoughts, though – as today the decision was made to continue construction for Toy Story Playland but reschedule the official opening till spring 2011!
