From parking lot to convention “center” to …

Since the former parking lot of the Disney Village (located between the Disney Dome (the former Crescend’O tent) and the small waterway next to Disney’s Newport Bay Club, hidden from Lake Disney by a berm) was replaced by the parking structure on the other side of the access road, the paved and flattened area has been taken over by various resort deparments. For some time the Disney Village used it to stage extra events, then it was temporarily used as an outdoor storage area, e.g. for the huts of the Christmas Market, before it was finally taken over by the convention department. The latter errected a huge white convention tent that it rented out for company events when the regular convention space in the resort’s two main convention centers at Disney’s Hotel New York and Disney’s Newport Bay Club was fully booked.

However, since earlier this year (at least early March), the tent has been partially been taken down. The only thing left at this point is the metall framework / skeleton of the tent. Considering the duration that the framework has been left standing on its own already it seems doubtfull to interpret it as a sign that the tent is being taken completely down. Instead it seems more likely, that the regular tent-elements have been taken down for some torough cleaning and / or because of storms earlier this year. Afterall the tent was partially disassembled in the past years as well at times. Nevertheless it might be worth keeping a close look at the former Disney Village parking lot … let us know if you spot changes!
