BREAKING NEWS: the official Disney Parks Blog just minutes ago gave the first confirmation to the general public for the return of “Captain EO” to Disneyland Paris (after a leaked internal memo and some statements by cast members in the park). Even more interesting: the post, which mostly centers around the return of “Captain EO” to EPCOT also gives the first official opening date for “Captain EO” at Disneyland Paris: JUNE 12!
The date fits the “mid-June” statement from the leaked internal memo (see prior coverage on DLP.info) and is even earlier than the rumored June 25 (which would have been the first anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death). Based on the dates already known respectively revealed in the official blog post this would also make Disneyland Paris the second of the four Disney Resorts that welcome “Captain EO” back (after being the last one to replace the attraction with “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience”).
As the Disney Parks Blog usually centers around the Disney Resorts in the US the fact that it was the first place to officially confirm in the public the return of “Captain EO” to Disneyland Paris is a rare event. Interestingly the blog post went online only today, April 28, but lists April 23 as the authoring date. So it looks as if the blog originally had planned to reveal the news the past Friday but for some unknown reason delayed the post (and then someone forgot to adjust the date).
A really big “Thank You” to all our guests who pointed out the new post on the official Disney Parks Blog in the comments to our Captain EO update from earlier today!

Yes! I booked my Disney-vacation (10-13th June) months ago. What a fortunate coincidence to be now among the first to see Captain EO (again) ! :))))
The return of Captain EO; this is great news.
As a Dream passport holder, I attended the park on the day that the replacement show (Honey….) opened. I saw it twice and I have never seen it since.
Perhaps Disney has begun to listen. I wish they would also bring back the marvellous and funny Main Street Electrical Parade. The replacement is SO boring. It would also be nice to see the return of the wonderful Imaginations Parade, from the days when the parades were long enough not to have to stop in order to spin out the time.
I have been a passport holder since the very beginning, and still have my souvenir ticket from April 1992. I fear that they have taken a lot of the magic away, but perhaps the return of Captain EO signals a change of attitude. The spirit in the park, especially among the “performers”, was truly magical back then.
Do we need an “anglophone” back at the helm for a while, or at least someone who gets out of the office now and then?
