BREAKING NEWS: the official Disney Parks Blog just minutes ago gave the first confirmation to the general public for the return of “Captain EO” to Disneyland Paris (after a leaked internal memo and some statements by cast members in the park). Even more interesting: the post, which mostly centers around the return of “Captain EO” to EPCOT also gives the first official opening date for “Captain EO” at Disneyland Paris: JUNE 12! (more…)

Captain EO – opening date CONFIRMED
Wednesday, April 28th, 2010Captain EO – an update from outerspace
Wednesday, April 28th, 2010… the outerspace of management that seems. As pointed out in a comment by Lars to our report that a cast member confirmed the return of “Captain EO” during a guided tour for guests in the Disneyland Park the DLRP Fan Blog has released a leaked internal “Management Flash” from Disneyland Paris confirming the return of “Captain EO”.
A closer look at the memo reveals some interesting details … first of all, different from the official announcement for Tokyo (as covered by the Mousekingdom Blog) or Anaheim the internal memo at Disneyland Paris does NOT mention that the return is only for a limited engagement – even so the general consensus among fans still is, that “Captain EO” will not stay for an unlimited time at Disneyland Paris. Then, just as at Tokyo Disney Resort the internal memo refers only to “Captain EO” and not to “Captain EO Tribute” as the attraction has been named at Disneyland Anaheim for its return there. But there is more in the memo…
The Signs are up
Wednesday, April 28th, 2010As reported on Monday non-temporary construction fences have been errected between the Rainforest Cafe and Lake Disney, also blocking the bridge leading toward the Disney Village Dome. While it was only an assumption at that point that behind these walls construction work for the first European location of the Earl of Sandwich restaurant chain would commence, confirmation has now arrived.
Fansite Disney Central Plaza posted a snapshot to their Facebook page showing signage by Earl of Sandwich that has been added to the construction fence. The sign also features the first indicator for the opening … which will not be in 2010, as had been hoped for by many fans when the rumors got more substantial last December, but only in 2011. However, it has to be considered that in a first step a part of the side arm of Lake Disney will have to be filled in.

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010
Annual Passportholders are invited by Disneyland Paris and the Gaumont multiplex cinema at the Disney Village to join Alice for her latest adventure as envisioned by Tim Burton. Today is the second (and final day) at which all Annual Passport holders may enjoy the latest Disney feature by Tim Burton “Alice in Wonderland” aka “Alice au Pays des Merveilles” in 3D on the big IMAX screen in the Disney Village for just 5,90 EUR per person. If that is too short of a notice you may want to take note that as of tomorrow April 28 till May 4 the Gaumont cinemas offer a special priced tickets at 3,90 EUR to AP holders for the screening of the movie on the non-IMAX screens of the multiplex in the Disney Village. And after the movie experience, why not join Alice at the Disneyland Park, where her Curious Labyrinth as well as the March Hare Refreshment and the Mad Hatter’s Teacups await guests – even so these experiences are based on the beloved classic animated Alice feature by Walt Disney. Culinary Construction Sites
Monday, April 26th, 2010Guests currently visiting the Disney Village will find its lower end toward Lake Disney in a state of construction with currently two groups of construction fences close to each other.
Coming from the Disney Hotels respectively Lake Disney a new construcion fence is going up blocking the access to the bridge leading across the little side arm of the lake from the open space next to the Rainforest Cafe to the entrance of the former parking lot, now home to the convention tent next to the Disney Village Dome. Speaking of the convention tent: it was a bare steel skeleton a couple of weeks ago, but now the tent fabric is beeing re-added, with the rear section already having received the wall and top fabric and only the front segment still a bare steel skeleton. However, back to the construction fence. It not only blocks access to the bridge from the side of the former parking lot but has also been errected along the full length of the bridge, so that guests can’t look onto / across the bridge from the lake. In addition the construction fence blocks off the area from the bridge to the Rainforest Cafe, which was used till last year for a carousel, leading up all the way to the walls of the building. In fact it even blocks off the side-entrance to the Rainforest Cafe. (more…)
Toy Story Playland – Video Report – UPDATED!
Monday, April 26th, 2010dtvdavid1 posted a new video to youTube in his ongoing series of Disneyland Paris video podcasts / reports. At the center of the 3:19 min long report presented in English is a view of the current construction of the Toy Story Playland in the Walt Disney Studios. The material is all new, shot past Saturday, April 24th only. And there is plenty of news to discover in the report (as embedded below)…
The first news can be seen in the first seconds in the far background: the big number “1″ at the top of the Studio 1 facade facing the Frontlot has reappeared from behind the scaffolding that was added lately. As other reports coming in indicate, the number and the surrounding area as visible once again now has all been freshly repainted.
However, the view over the dark blue construction fence in front of the future Toy Story Playland is what is really exciting … dtvdavid1 is able to show for the very first time what appears to be the final parachutes for the Army Men Parachute Drop. Dark green fabric with a camouflage design now covers the metal framework on the cables above the ride’s seats!

Captain EO preparing for touchdown – a confirmation?!
Monday, April 26th, 2010As reported in mid-April the rumor mill has been running overtime and is beyond just “hot” in regard to a pending closure of “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience” (short: HISTA) and the Imagination Institute in Disneyland’s Discoveryland in early May to prepare for a return of Michael Jackson in the 3D Space-Movie “Captain EO” that occupied the same spot in the early years of Disneyland Paris, when the theater was still called “Cinemagique”. However, so far the resort has NOT officially released any press release or advertising material confirming this move. However, … (more…)
29th of May …
Thursday, April 22nd, 2010… is the day the Studio Tram Tour in the Walt Disney Studios Park will finally return to service for guests. Until then guests will be greeted by the sight as seen here on the right at the far end of the Hollywood Boulevard.
As has been widely reported the closure that by then will have been in place for several months is NOT due to an extensive update of the experience for guests – unfortunately. Instead the closure was prompted by the construction for the Toy Story Playland right next to the former road of the Studio Tram Tour. The Toy Story Playland is also responsible for the one change that so far has been known to be implemented into the Studio Tram Tour during the closure: a re-routing of the segments between the station and the Catastrophe Canyon respectively the Dinotopia temple set. But there is another change upcoming… (more…)

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010
If you want to take a chance to win a VIP trip for 4 to Disneyland Paris at the occassion of the New Generation Festival you should visit the website Vacature and answer two questions. One of the answers you can find on the side, the second one will be a guess on how many people enterred the competition. Just keep in mind: the website (and the competition) is in Dutch.
The lucky winners will get a room in Disney’s New York Hotel for 2 nights, tickets for both theme parks for 3 nights and VIP FastPass tickets so they will not have to queue on any of the attractions that offer FastPass service.
The competition ends on the 28th April at 1.00 pm local time. Good luck!
Bad Press for Disneyland Paris
Wednesday, April 21st, 2010Disneyland Paris seems to have a bad run in regard to press coverage. We are not talking about the coverage resulting from the press event for the start of the New Generation Festival, but the general day-in-day-out coverage of the happenings at the resort.
The suicide of two chefs at the resort earlier this spring, including one of the chefs of the resort’s acclaimed California Grill, was covered in detail in particular in the French press and resulted in a general discussion of the work palce conditions and environment at the resort. However, luckily for the resort the rather negative impact seemed mostly limited to the local press.
However, now the resort ran into the British press in the form of the Telegraph and mail online. (more…)
