RC Racer rising high

After the central tower of the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop the second attraction of the upcoming Toy Story Playland area at the Walt Disney Studios Park is rising high above the blue construction walls surrounding the construction for the expansion area. This time it is the halfpipe track for “RC Racer”.

User Mehdi5 managed to take a couple of photos of the bright orange track resting on the just as glaring purple supports on Monday, February 22 and published them on the MagicForum site. The photos show very well how the bright, very toy-like colors stand out compared to the green colors for the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop attraction and the natural forrest backdrop. As the track rises high up above the blue construction fences however these bright colors bring up the same problem as the parachute drop tower: the potential risk of visual intrusion. However, at this point it still needs to be awaited whether the bare steel tracks can only be seen from the top of the lift hills of the Big Thunder Mountain or also from further within Frontierland.

While the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop will be a tame attraction suitable also for younger children the steel track of the RC Racer now visible to extend vertically high up into the air clearly indicates that this second ride of the new Toy Story Playland is not the tame family ride many had expected but has to be considered a thrill ride more appealing to the teenage crowd.
