Let’s get ready for the New Generation

2010 Disneyland Paris is celebrating the “New Generation Festival” – as is hard to miss, with the festival’s theme being layered over the spring / summer brochures already all over Europe and the according posters already placed over the moving wlakways between the theme parks and their main parking lot.

Now DLRP Fan Blog and DLRP Today have found the first official trailer in English (and in case of the DLRP Fan Blog also in Dutch) for the festival that will premier in April 2010 as also embedded below.

The trailer can also be found in the news section of the English version of the resort’s official website in a higher resolution version (played via the Flash player). Interestingly the trailer heavily emphasizes the three new attractions coming to the Walt Disney Studios as part of the Toy Story Playland: RC Racer (the halfpipe ride), Slinky Doz Zig Zag Spin and Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop. Also character encounters (in particular with Sully from Monsters Inc.) are touted as well as ”new stars” for the parade, referring to Tiana from Disney’s Princess and the Frog as well as Remy from Ratatouille. According to the latest word Tiana is destined to join the Disney Princesses and Princes together with her own Prince in Disney’s Once Upon a Dream Parade in the Disneyland Park on the final float, while Remy is rumored to be added to the Stars’n'Cars parade / event in the Walt Disney Studios Park with his very own all new car.

It is interesting to note, that Tiana’s addition to the parade is actually the only reference of something new for the Disneyland Park, while all other major additions advertised are centered in the Walt Disney Studios Park – even so new character meet’n'greets will also come to the Disneyland Park with a new version of the Character Express / Minnie’s Party Express on Main Street, U.S.A. Also in the various stock scenes in the montage near the end of the trailer the amount of material depicting the classic Disneyland Park is rather limited – but certainly includes a shot of fireworks over the castle. The trailer deliberately does not communicate the message that there are two theme parks over which the attractions are spread out, instead once again the “at the resort” concept seems to be the base for the new trailer.

It is also worth noting that the trailer neither states clearly when the “New Generation Festival” will start (early April) nor that the three new attractions / rides will only open in (hopefully early) summer 2010. Whether that is a wise move needs to be awaited…
