Starbucks Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design

Starbucks environmental targets policiesThe Starbucks Coffee Company is a certified LEED store and they are showing their commitment with a permanent sign on their facade. The sign reads; “This store is registered with the goal to be LEED certified”. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The sign is also translated to French.

LEED follows the Green Building Rating System that has been developed by the U.S. Green Building Council or the USGBC since 1998. They stand for high standards related to healthier work and living environments to improve the employees comfort. To get certified you need to follow a long list with implementation for improving things like water and air quality, reducing waste, usage of materials and resources, benefiting the owners, the employees and the society as well.
